  • Rustic meets Modern in this video when I make a new LED light fixture for my dining room. Using a reclaimed Oak beam I show my process in turning it into a 4' LED light with a LED strip back lit acrylic layer for a modern flair. I finished it out with some LED Edison bulbs for the Rustic look. THANKS for watching.

    Nicely done! I love the steel brackets with the barn wood beam... Gives me some ideas for my own projects, thinking I might add some lighting to my old barn ladder pot rack.

    Amazing work. Were the LED lights connected to the Edison bulbs?

    • @SquareSplinter
      @SquareSplinter  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They are connected to same circuit, yes. I used the 12 volt converter that comes with the leds and just hard wired it to the Edison bulb circuit. Still working great!

    why do you have to burn the oak before you plug in the lamp?

    • @SquareSplinter
      @SquareSplinter  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Vincent Tong definitely didn’t have to burn it first. That is just how I ended up editing the video. I burned the ends though trying to match the aging on the beam. 👍🏼

      @@SquareSplinter Let me clarify my opinion to you. Maybe then you will understand and conclude
      1 - look at the design of your room and the color of the door trim - there is a dark brown color, quality wood. In your piece of wood with a light gray tint - it does not fit into your interior at all
      2 Wooden ceiling mount plates - perpendicular to the line of the lamp - it looks awful
      3 The power cable had to be glued to metal holders (polyethylene), so that it would not be visible. If you did not guess to use a square profile tube.
      4 Consider a wooden bar with LED strip ... at the bottom the wide part of the tree, then the luminous strip, the narrow part. Now imagine and flip the other way around. Then the iron bracket of the mount will not overlap the LED strip.
      5 LED strip had to choose with more pcs of diodes to make light more even or use matte white acrylic.
      6 Ceiling mounts are too long, not harmonious and too big shadow on the ceiling
      In short… but in any case, you have done a big jod

      zservice72 zservice72 you CLEARLY put WAYYY more thought into this than the 5 min I spent planning it out. I’m sure yours will be built to much higher specs than mine. 👍🏼. Thanks either way.
