  • I'll be trying out a different style of video, and make them in pairs, this week I'll build up an M3 halftrack for the Bolt Action game by Warlord Games, and next week I'll paint it.
I want to show my process for building models, especially those with instructions that aren't.... in depth, shall we say. This might help some of you if you were to build this model, but the thinking behind it should help anyone with a difficult model.
Part 2 (Painting) can be found here: • M3 Halftrack by Warlor...

Making these videos is a hobby for me, but if you wish to help me cover the costs of making them, you can donate, with my thanks, here: paypal.me/edskar

I got 3 more kits to do in this style, once they're all out as videos we'll see if they're popular enough to continue. But certainly something-0-mania :D

My OCD kicks in for mold lines. Those molded tracks would have driven me crazy. Looks like a good kit in the end, but that could be because of the builder.

There are a few I missed so don't look too closely :D
I think a file would be easier to use for tracks like these, rather than the knife, but as mentioned, they are covered by the armour panels of the hull, so not a big deal in this case (but... the road wheels, they are visible :( )
I wouldn't call myself an expert, but I have been at this a while so I've picked up at least some good techniques :)

I built one last night after watching this video, and honestly I was able to remove most of the mold lines on the tracks by simply scraping it with a utility knife (mine's an Olfa, but like a Stanley knife) and *then* using Tamiya Extra Thin in between the links. Any thicker cement wouldn't do the trick, but an Extra Thin plastic cement should break down the remnants enough for a decent finish. Once it's primed, painted, and weathered I don't think they'll be noticeable on any of the visible surfaces.

Seems par for the course on these Warlord/Italeri plastic vehicle kits. Some of them aren't bad (T34/85) while others are absolutely godawful (M3 Stuart). This seems to fall in between. Thanks for making this, because I lost my instruction sheet and this showed me I would've smashed the kit and thrown it out if I'd tried to build it without instructions! Take care.

Ah yes... the Stuart, my next kit. Seems I should look forwards to it xD

@@EDSKaR I look forward to your video on it, honestly! I hope you have better luck with it than I did! 😀
