Bottled water is always a costly inconvenience and I have used the Britta. I used to work l in water treatment, and my observations and lab testin indicate the Zero Water as it's much effective. I also use a kettle to boil water and let it cool before filtering to reduce bacterial and fungal growth in the filter medium. Boiling also boils off a lot of chemical contaminants further improving the quality of the filtered water.

Vietnam is generally a great place but like anywhere can be difficult to live in. Speak Vietnamese makes a huge difference and opens up many adventures and good times. Biggest issue for me was pollution and corruption as i lived there 10 years there abouts. Price was generally cheap if you got an income coming in like i did!

Danang at the best time of year amd nixe to visit, however the weather there is brutal for 10 months oer year, either ridiculously hot (may to August) or raining nearly every day with a few typhoons thrown in (September to Feb), evem my Vietnamese friends can't tolerate the climate, now is absolutely the best time amd hoi an is absolutely stunning

Not enough ENGLISH and too many damn visa runs loaded with inconvenience and added expense for me to be happy trying to enjoy retirement ! -- The language barrier would get really old in about 2 days. -- Not wired for their language. -- A terribly uncomfortable environment for me personally to endure. - - - I would find Cambodia a much better fit with the exceptionally friendly Khmer people & their use of English - acceptance of the USD - and - a retirement visa policy over 55 - that is legendary !!! A few dollars more expensive to live monthly - but the visa ease & cost makes up for a lot of that combined with the interactions with the local people. - - - Siem Reap in particular such a beautiful city would be in my comfort zone ! International food & cheap street food - very low rents - even 50 cent beer many places ? - - - Sorry - but Vietnam is not for me. Malaysia & the Philippines - where they speak a lot of ENGLISH - would be a lot more comfortable - for me !!! The little bit of savings in living daily wouldn't be worth the extra grief inflicted by the language - on me ?
I could't agree more with everything you said, the 1 thing nobody in these type of vids talk about is the people, the Vietnamese people while not unfriendly are not warm and friendly like othe SEA countries, they rarely smile and will look at you stoney faced, they are not as welcoming and accepting of foreigners as othe SEA countries, and don't get me started on dating that's a non starter there.

Great place to slow down for 6 months. Too bad, there are no good 6 month visas for retirees. Here 7 years, mostly on 2 year work visas.

DaNang is fine for a one week holiday or so but after that quickly return to the Philippines where my condo and car are.
