I found a work around for ATM limits, so if the bank you suggested is inconvenient, once you take out your 2or 3 M dong, you just sign in again and take out the same amount. You can do this over and over before you remove your card. So finish one transaction, take cash and do it again. The ATM has never rejected my card or transactions. I hope this was clear. 😊
I spend most of my time in Thailand and we went to Da Nang for a visa run/holiday and in Don Meung airport I got messages from True saying I could could buy a roaming package for neighboring countries. Its was pretty cheap; don't remember how much. Anyhow I bought this before I left Thailand for Vietnam and did not need to bother buying a sim card in Vietnam and it worked really well/fast. So when we arrive in Da Nang we just ordered a Grab taxi on my phone and it worked out really well; no need to even change any money! Anyhow on the way to the hotel we stopped at a money changer, which offered a good rate and changed money.
Airalo works good too. Before you enter the country you can buy an ESIM for a few dollars for a week of data so when you land in the country you already have service and later buy cheaper service.
We just want to thank you both for your very informative videos that has helped us to move and retire in Da Nang, Vietnam from Ohio, USA. Please us know if we may take you out for a coffee while you’re in Da Nang. Thanks!🙏
Went to Da Nang last year (and Saigon, Da Lat, Hoi An, Cai Be) and had a good time. We were in a hotel overlooking the beach. Very nice! The Buddhist temple off to the left in the distance, was incredible! Beautiful bonsai plants EVERYWHERE. Not too fond of the monkeys around there! Some of them are a little bit aggressive, as one young lady found out! All things considered, I still feel a pull towards Da Lat! I want to live there. The wife says Saigon (Ho Chi Minh city) Too crowded for me! Enjoy your stay guys!
Wow! Another great video ❤. Thank you Qiang, we now know exactly what to do when we go to Vietnam. So lovely to have our morning coffee watching you and Dan!
Excellent and practical info. Thanks so much. Where’s the links you mentioned would be in the description? Maybe I’m missing them somewhere. Thanks again. ❤
Great tips. Does the ‘get currency’ mean Apple Pay is still not common in Vietnam? It appears Klopp supports eSIM (no physical card to swap in/out) also. Which means you can install it before you leave and just turn your phone on and select that as your active number. 5GB/day is amazing.
No need to communicate with the locals at the airport 😂😂😂😂😂so was in china recently and my Chinese friend was taking taking me to restaurants where she would order every thing with here phone, and English friend who has lived in in china for 15 years told me most places you can not use cash, total bullshit, luckily I can remember travel before mobiles and before the internet, much more interesting, take care keep the videos coming please
Danang is a very big city and the beach there its like 30km long! So even though there are a lot of tourists there it is big enough for everyone. A lot of hotels and restraints too. Just don't go to Hoi Ann - it is a tourist trap in there.
thank you for all this info. that SIM card you are referring to is not an eSIM right? So if I use that SIM card, my home country cannot contact me... is that correct?
I recently heard about the Wise thing, where they give you a card. I wonder if that is a good option, as in, I wonder if it would save on ATM fees. Has anyone tried it?
I haven't got one yet, but I've seen a lot of people recommending it. If you're in the US, a Charles Schwab checking account reimburses any ATM fees worldwide.
Ive been to Vietnam 4 times since 2019 and Cambodia once since 2019 and it was never an issue to bring whatever books I wanted. Perhaps during the Cold War it was a thing, but not now.
What about extending your visa run ... say 3 months in Vietnam followed by 3 months in Thailand ... repeat ... even throw Cambodia or Indonesia in for a little "variety" 😊
Hi both, thank you for the tips but one question/tip I am always missing with all TH-camrs when they cover travelling to a country/city: how cashless is the country/Da Nang/Vietnam? How easy can I pay with debit card? Can we pay easy with debit card in the regular shops in Vietnam/Da Nang? And if not, how many cash will you need on average for 1 month? Hopefully you can shed some light?!
We use cash and withdraw from the ATM. check out our cost of living in Da Nang for the idea of the money th-cam.com/video/EMMRuiJYQys/w-d-xo.htmlsi=zp2NSXHyNBYR789C
No, I don't like e-sim because i cannot call the local call by e sim. If we just travel for holiday for a week or 2, e-sim is okay to use. But if we travel for months in one country, e-sim is not a good choice for me.
Absolutely brilliant information for foreigners travelling to Vietnam Da Nang is my own choice from Qiang she is so knowledgable. This is why i love both of your YT Channels. Qiang i live in Scotland but i am not sure what would be the best airlines to fly into Da Nang. Would i have to fly to Bangkok First then take a domestic flight from Don Muang airport to Da Nang? If this route is available? Sometimes it can be difficult to get this useful information when one lives thousands of miles away. Any recomendation for beachfront hotels with swimming pool in Da Nang Qiang or Dan please. 😊😊😊❤ Any plans on you two getting married? LOL.
We always use Skyscanner to get the best flight prices. Then we go book direct at the airline once we know. For places to stay we have a procedure we follow. Just Google "Vagabond Awake Apartments" and the video should come to the top. Or using booking.com to find the hotel. =) Here is link on my thoughts about marriage: th-cam.com/video/57Z9gS8TpDk/w-d-xo.htmlsi=3e3eyF1a2GXWXhlt
Use Vietnam airlines fly from London to Saigon or Hanoi spend few day there explore either north or south then travel to da nang either with vietjet or bamboo / vnairlines
Have you tried Google Fi for your phone service? I use it because it works in almost all countries at no extra cost. The cost for me is $55 per month. I am not sure how this compares to getting a new sim card in each country that you go to. It includes unlimited text, calls, data and hotspot tethering. Do you keep your same number when you get a new sim card?
Can you use digital wallet apps, like Apple Pay and Google Wallet (linked to credit card), on your phone to pay for most things in Da Nang? I could easily do this in Malaysia but not so much in Thailand or the Philippines.
Like most Asians, Qiang doesn’t pronounce the ends of her words. Perhaps you could teach her to pronounce D and T for example at the en(D) of wor(DS). Asian languages usually have vowel sounds at the end of words not consonants. She is very fluent and smart. You are doing her a disservice by overlooking her pronunciation!
I prefer cooler temperatures and a quieter atmosphere. So, Oct - Jan is raining season, . The temperature is usually lowest in December (winter), around 18c - 23c
The biggest problem in vietnam travel too many crooks roaming around the country: taxi driver, restaurant, hotel vendors etc. If you dont like people rip you off a few dollars each time then dont come to vietnam, it make you feel like a fool tourist and it hurt your pride. For many Vietnamese oversea , it not about a few dollars it about principle and we got used to that living in a western countries
We applied Single entry 90 days visa, it’s cost 25usd. You applied Multiple entry 90days is 50usd. We didn’t plan to leaving & coming back Vietnam in our 90days visa. So single entry 90 days visa is good for us. ☺️

3 million is enough for me at 1 time if I need more which is rarely I just go the next day 😉👍💯
@@philipjanek3864 but every time you draw money from ATM they charge commission.

The more I’m watching your past videos the more I’m realising how informative your videos are = ok I must be a slow learner.
Thanks for sharing your personality. You put a smile on my face as I'm currently going through some physical pain.
Really helpful today. I will be going to Viet Nam now for sure. You broke it down perfectly, 90 days thats great.
For clarification: The entry and exit airports can be different as long as it matches what you selected when you applied for the visa.
True! Thanks for the clarification. We fly in to Da Nang and fly out from Ho Chi Minh.
Riding in Air B&B and sleeping in Grabs😂😅!!! You guys 🎸 rock man🎉
Good info guys! Thanks!
Thanks for the great tips and insights! Your positive experience is a refreshing inspiration. Looking to more of your adventures in Vietnam.
Thanks for watching!

Please let us know when you come back to Da Nang and we would love to take you out for a meal! Thanks!
Thanks for your kind & quick reply Qiang. I will give your tips and links a try. 😊
Yea! This is great updated info. We will be arriving in Da Nang in March Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!🥰🌻Have fun!
Correct on SIM card. $6 a month for 4gb a day is what the locals pay. Good value and good speed!

Wow, so much easier now to get a visa. Was not that easy 4 or 5 years ago. USAA bank for the military people also reimburses ATM fees.

Sorry, I was late. You can find them in the youtube description now.
Yeah, i found out too late that the e-visa I chose was very expensive. Listen to these guys and take the official Govt site. Same for Cambodia.

Most tour booking businesses will happily do foreign exchange after the government clamped down on the jewellery shops.
What about staying even longer?
Always great information and tips. 👍
Is it Vietnam or Cambodia that tourists can't bring books in?
Just anti communist, anti totalitarian books, per rumors tho, I haven’t read about actual cases of book impoundment on forums.
Ive been to Vietnam 4 times since 2019 and Cambodia once since 2019 and it was never an issue to bring whatever books I wanted. Perhaps during the Cold War it was a thing, but not now.

Question : Can you extend the visa to 6 months or a year ?
Thank you.
Hi Keith, so far I never heard about visa extension yet, only about visa run.
