Wife got her Model Y just about exactly a year ago with Verson 11 and she was afraid of it. We were in Black Mountain NC for her job and it was useless in town with the twisty narrow roads. Now we both have Verson 13 on our Model Ys and she's back in Black Mountain and neither of us ever touches the wheel. It's amazing how far it came in one year. Makes me very anxious to see where we are a year from now.

8:00 that’s still my number one reason I continue to not have faith in FSD being end to end despite its improvements. NYC is full of potholes and metal grates. If it ever develops wheel preserving logic, then it becomes useful otherwise no matter how good it drives to the destination it’s no use if you arrive there with a blown tire

@@vxnova1 I did 2000 miles up and down from MI-NC last month and a lot of it was rain, and often dark and raining, and FSD didn't cut off once. It's something to watch but very seldom an issue now.

There's no Grim Reaper coming, no out-of-control electric vehicle crashing into you, no sudden falling billboards, no people suddenly flying over, no nearby gas station leaking oil with all the oil flowing towards the car, no earthquakes, no tsunamis, no volcanic eruptions, no tornadoes, no dust storms, nor solar flares, only then would I even consider touching FSD.

@@kidstoysdrawings1605 it’s not Manhattan where the road problems are. Manhattan tends to get good infrastructure upkeep as far as roadwork. It’s the outerboroughs that get neglected.

I noticed that my free version of FSD that downloaded to my 24 MY a few days back is ver 13.2.2 and in the couple of days I’ve used it, no issues, which hasn’t been my typical experience with FSD. Quite impressed so far.

Honestly I was very skeptical of the camera only approach, but the videos I’ve seen on this recent version really impress me. Would love to see some testing in rain, that’s going to be very tricky (not sure what waymo’s weather policy is). It needs to be able to handle light rain at the very least.

I have some of the same issues you have. Trying to get over into a merge lane that ends in 100 feet, going to the back of stores. Still drives better than I do most of the time. My wife and I agree it seems to be more of a map problem than an fsd problem. It's also gone different routes than what is shown on the map.

The drive I did Saturday, I took over twice when it picked the wrong lane (once into an exit-only lane on the freeway when the route was straight, and once on a surface street into a right turn only lane when the route was straight). It might have corrected itself and gone back into the correct lane in a couple of seconds but I didn’t want to confuse other drivers with unnecessary lane changes.

I've had similar experiences the last 2 weeks with the newest revision on HW4. Really incredible improvement. And yes, I've had the same observation that a lot of the times now it's more of a nav issue as opposed to FSD issue. Recently a two lane street was changed to 1 lane with the right most lane converted to parallel parking spots and FSD kept trying to get into the right lane and then merging back to the left when it would realize that it wasn't a lane. The nav still showed 2 lanes since it must have been a recent change.
Additionally, I drive with the nav setting for HOV lane off but over the weekend in the Hurry profile the car has been taking the HOV lane anyway, it's fine cause on weekends HOV is not in effect so I'll need to test that on a weekday.

The one thing I have learned about FSD version 13, to be able to use that blue FSD button from park you have disable your "Pin to drive" two factor authentication. Though, it will let you, after you put the car in drive no matter what direction you need to go not moving yet, the FSD steering wheel will pop up and then you can do the normal enable FSD stalk or button push and then it will reverse if necessary.

Im very familiar with the Costco area. It seems to prefer entrances from public streets. You were literally in the driveway for the Costco by Chilis (private drive) and it took you back to the public streets a quarter mile out of the way to go in the back way from the public street -- only to almost crack your rims on a pothole.

FSD also likes to go the back side of several businesses that I go to. I let it do it once, but usually I take over and use the front entrance. This behavior has been for several versions now, perhaps started with V12 E2E stack.

How come FSD test drivers do a "FSD Drive" as if it is a special thing!!!! Over 10 years of amazing version updates and it is still not used for every driving, come on guys, who's kidding who. FSD is like vaporware, you have it, BUT DO NOT rely on it.
FSD - The Full Self driving you have when you do not have self driving.

I can't speak for everyone who owns a Tesla and uses FSD. However, I can speak for myself, and the majority of the time (since receiving v13) I let the car drive me literally everywhere. I have a rather long driveway, so sometimes it struggles to get out. But other than that, it truly drives me from point A to point B, with the only interventions usually being when it takes a route that I don't want to go.
