      @samwalker3441 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@abidingewe2065 You are totally right. There should be a really big disclaimer put on this. Using a frozen turkey and putting into the hot oil will likely result in a large fire that could kill the person cooking it and burn down whatever is nearby long before the fire department can arrive. Please put up some warnings.

      I am all about safety. But this is not an instructional video. It's an entertainment parody. Anyone who has never deep fried a turkey would surely look up a recipe (it's likely included in the manual with the deep fryer), which would include that information regarding not using a frozen turkey.

    in 1980 or so my dad had gone duck hunting in Arkansas and learned how to deep fry catfish filets in the duck blind on a Coleman Stove. He had a big party in January and set the stove up in the brand new 3 car garage (with a suspended ceiling and a big workbench at end opposite the garage door. ) He had done a prototype cooking and was all ready. When he dropped several cornmeal breaded fish filets into the boiling oil - the oil splashed on the burner and became a jet engine - scorching the ceiling tiles in a giant flame up. the dinner party was salvaged - by going to the BBQ restaurant but we had to use the fire extinguisher. The new workbench and ceiling tiles were never the same - the garage and downstairs was filled with smoke. Be careful.Happy thanksgiving. family fun memories. ;)

      @Saundra Ooo. When my, now 15-year-old was much younger, he could not swallow scrambled eggs. I don't know if it was the taste or texture. So one day, I have forgotten how, Tony Chachere's was added, and from that day forward he was able to eat the scrambled eggs. No offence to Tony Chachere's, our family, has been using Slap Ya Mama seasoning.
      - Tony Chachere's is a seasoning blend, a magical little canister of dust to spice up your food. ... Slap Ya Mama is similar to Tony Chachere's. Unlike Tony's, it's a lot easier for the uninitiated to pronounce. Slap Ya Mama loyalists say it's better than Tony's because it's got less salt.-

    The turkey is being cooked with fire and hot oil. You do not, under any circumstances, walk away from it. Just no. It's a fire hazzard, and some kid or pet could get killed if they messed with it. I don't know about Alton Brown's brine method, but his GOOD EATS episode, "Fry Turkey Fry" is an awesome explanation of how not to get hurt while dealing with a turkey and fire.

    My son and I have been deep-frying turkey s for about 20 years, with Sen. Broussard’s of LA Cajun marinade recipe from the “Congress Cooks” website and the dry-rub recipe from the “National Turkey Federation” website. Kim is right, the skin is so wonderful.
    I make my own fresh celery green juice, onion juice, and garlic juice for the marinade, since they are not sold in Calif.
    Frying a turkey DOES mean one of us has to sit and watch the fryer, for reals, for safety and to monitor the oil temp.

    We've been having deep-fried turkey every Thanksgiving since 1998 when we first had it in New Orleans!! I love not having to get up at 4:00 am to put the turkey in the oven and then not be able to use my oven all day! Everyone who's tasted our turkey has loved it.

    Oh my gosh Kim, I am so glad I'm not the only one who loves eating the skin. Go ahead and call me gross or comment "🤢🤮"... but when my family cuts the turkey and cuts off the skin, I always have to eat it. Don't get me wrong, I love turkey (dark meat), but the skin is just sooooooooo gooooood! 😋😋😋

      Agreed. The skin is money. ESPECIALLY when deep fried.

    Quick tip on roasting a turkey and keeping it moist. You can inject or not inject if you wish but the real trick is roast it upside down. Most people will cook it back bone in the pan breast up but if you flip it over so the breast is down in the pan and you have some chicken stock or turkey stock or just water seasoning and vegetables, it basically self basting and will come out nice and juicy.
