There is something so special about their ability, to tell the songs story, allowing us to listen with a new perspective, and hear & feel emotions, we may not have heard from the original artist 💖💖💖 Not only their voices, but their delivery is also their gift! *IMO, no other group, can build up a song, like Pentatonix* They are masters at pulling on our emotions!!! 💗💗💗 *They are individually so talented, however, when put together, it is truly magical* 💗💗💗 Thank you for such a thoughtful reaction 💗💗💗
Two comments. First, none of any of their performances is an accident. Second, There is a relatively unknown sixth member of the group who only appears onscreen when they're picking up another Grammy. From what they've said and I've heard, everybody contributes to the development of an arrangement. Then Ben Bram (the sixth member), their arranger, makes sense of the consensus and delivers (likely five or six iterations of) the story, sound, tone, and emotion they want to convey with a new or reimagined song they perform. Without Ben, they'd be like any other acapella group. He keeps them on their toes all the time. We all benefit from that collaboration.
thanks to Simon & Garfunkel for writing this classic over 50 years ago, making it possible for Disturbed, Pentatonix and others to re-interpret the message....that society was becoming de-personalized, withdrawn and accepting of "silence" to the realities of the world.........btw, Mitch sang the 2nd verse.......he is a counter-tenor and sang notes higher than Kirstie during this song.....listen
I love this version!!! If you want lower register of Kirstie, you need to listen to Rather Be. Also, I highly recommend you react to their just released MV for O Holy Night! You will not believe it. It’s beyond gorgeous and stunning! Best version ever. ❤️💚
I’ve said it before, but this was the first time after Avi left, that I thought, with Matt, we’re gonna be alright!!! I know he had been with them for a while, but more or less as a very good “placeholder”…with this he established himself as a full fledged member, very deservedly so, of Pentatonix!!! Just a stellar performance of this tried and true classic! Also, I really enjoyed your reaction…enough so to warrant a sub from me…keep up the good work!!!
If you want to hear more from Matt as a solo, they covered You're A Mean One, Mr. Grinch, with him as the solo. There are a few others, but this one fits the season. Love ya'lls reactions
Clever camera use of light with Scott-representation of "vision ... in my brain"/" neon light ". Later it appears to shine more brightly on "the neon God they made". When Mitch mentions the "streetlamp " and "neon light that split the night", the camera focuses the light around him.
I didn't listen to the Disturbed version for a long time because I love(d) PTX's so much. Disturbed won't ever replace PTX in my heart, but I did love their version and decided it was ok to like both.
They were actually in the UK earlier this year, one gig in Manchester and two in London. I saw them and they were phenomenal live. Not sure when they will be back over here though, nothing announced for 2024, so I have my fingers crossed for 2025.
I love this version. For sure. But Paul Simon only endorsed one cover of his song. Ever. And that was the Disturbed version. Don’t know why, but I think it was because of the raw grit and frustration that came across, but also a smidge of hope. Pentatonix was almost all hope? Not sure.
I grew up listening to Simon and Garfunkel and to me those "doo doo doo"s between the verses sound like the guitars from the S&G version. But you can also hear some bits of the David Draiman version.
This actually is outstanding !... again that wall of sound.. building tension and release...perfect... A recommendation that's not seasonal by PTX 💥... Radioactive..a Imagine Dragons cover.. featuring Lindsey Stirling... You could do both the cover & original..it certainly wouldn't hurt my feelings..😁.. Imagine Dragons is heavy drums.. they developed their sound playing in casino and couldn't be heard over the slot machines 🤣...another of their top originals 💥...Believer... Cheers fellas...🌿🌿🌿
A great reaction, guys! They did this so well and used that pinprick of light in the wall to great effect. Whomever does their videos ( it used to be fifgen) is just wonderful with their use of cinematic mood setting. They did S&G 's song with the reverence and message that they intended almost 60 years ago. The group dropped their music video of O Holy Night just a few hours ago and it's waaay past amazing and enthralling. Could you please react to it?
would love for you guys to check out their 'Popspring 2016'! It's a bit longish but it is well worth it :) They do 4 songs, 3 of which are Original (Cracked, Can't Sleep Love, and Water) and they also do a live rendition of one of their Evolution songs (I won't spoil which one it is)
Not sure if you have heard the original version of this song or not. The original Sound of Silence was sung by Simon and Garfunkel in the mid-60s. It sounded like you thought the original was sung by Peter and Tim.
I’m a Pentaholic since the beginning but DISTURBED’s version still is my favorite. It actually led me into checking out their catalog and I actually listen to them now and I am NOT a metal fan. But PTX will always hold my heart. ❤️ 🤗💋🥰 no hating fellow Pentaholic’s 🙏🏼
I completely understand this point of view - my only difference is that I AM a metal fan. I love both versions, but Disturbed's version I prefer by the slightest of margins. But it's okay to love them both!
We'll have to agree to disagree, i do not like Disturbed's rendition of this song. On the other hand, this was an upgrade to S & G's original version. PTX just keeps on getting better & better.
You're wrong. Starting with a DEEP voice is not the key to The Sound of Silence. You need to listen to the original song writer's version by Simon & Garfunkle.
Guys, they just released their latest video for O Holy Night which is stellar ✨❣️#Pentatonix
We will have to check it out 😊
S&G = A Warning
Disturbed = You didn't listen
PTX = Don't worry there is still hope.
Just remember, PTX is full of musical alien unicorns
Haha very true

Thanks for your comment and honesty! Every comment we get is appreciated, thanks for the info, we love it, much appreciated

When Matt is singen , Scott takes over the base
Scott does the bass when Matt sings
Great reaction again! Please do imagine , its beautiful, love your reaction s 😀
Thank you for the kind words and recommendations ☺️
I love this version!!! If you want lower register of Kirstie, you need to listen to Rather Be. Also, I highly recommend you react to their just released MV for O Holy Night! You will not believe it. It’s beyond gorgeous and stunning! Best version ever. ❤️💚
We appreciate those recommendations 😊
👋😃Hope you know that the original is by legendary 60s duo Simon and Garfunkel.
As ALWAYS PTX breathed new life to an iconic classic!
Defintely know the original and its beautiful. But I do love the different covers of this song 😊
You MUST react to Pentatonix', O Holy Night! It is awesome! 💖
We will check it out 😊

Kirstin also did lower tone in “Where are you Christmas” and “Come Along” I recommend watching them.
Thank you for the recommendation 😊
This is one of their best.
Loved it!
Scott does an amazing job of covering the bass when either Matt or Avi get a solo section, he is such a camelion.
Amazing talents between them all 😊
If you want to hear more from Matt as a solo, they covered You're A Mean One, Mr. Grinch, with him as the solo. There are a few others, but this one fits the season. Love ya'lls reactions
Appreciate you for the recommendation ☺️
They just released a live video of their cover of kiss from a rose. It’s wildly 😊great.
That is on our PTX playlist and yes it is defintely amazing 😊
Clever camera use of light with Scott-representation of "vision ... in my brain"/" neon light ". Later it appears to shine more brightly on "the neon God they made". When Mitch mentions the "streetlamp " and "neon light that split the night", the camera focuses the light around him.
Defintely very clever use of camara shots and editing
Perfection, yet again.
Fully agree 😊
I Like almost every version of this fantastic song, thank you Paul Simon for these masterful words and melody. Loved it guys.
It certainly is amazing!
Forget the others you’ve hear. PTX rules. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

I didn't listen to the Disturbed version for a long time because I love(d) PTX's so much. Disturbed won't ever replace PTX in my heart, but I did love their version and decided it was ok to like both.
Haha yeah its always OK to like multiple artists and versions of this song. Alot of beautiful covers to it
Love the reaction!
Thank you so much Rachel 😊
I think they did a great job with this song. Your reaction was very good.
I hope you get to feeling better Stan. Drink lots of fluids. 🥰
Thank you so much Jan 😊 Haha hopefully soon

We will definitely have to catch them live when they return 😊

Disturbed version certainly is amazing and I think holds holds top in my favourite cover of this song

Its definitely amazing 😊

Haha nah we have heard the very original. We always word things quite poorly tbh 😂

You're wrong. Starting with a DEEP voice is not the key to The Sound of Silence. You need to listen to the original song writer's version by Simon & Garfunkle.
It's a personal preference to this style of song so there isn't a right of wrong answer. Just what we think and what we like.👍
