PTX has recorded hundreds of songs, all the members have their time to shine. Anyone making comments about a member not getting enough spotlight isn't listening much.
@@lauriedaiken4426 This! People are so focused on "lead" that they unintentionally end up minimazing the role of the backing. The band themselves are aware that the backing is usually the harder part than the lead.
Thank you! For each member they mentioned, I immediately thought of several recent songs they had more prominent roles in. EVERYONE has a chance to shine depending on the song.
They've only started reacting to Pentatonix. They aren't trying to be rude. They spoke about hearing her, they'll get to a song where she takes a lead. Her voice is a beautiful anchor in this particular song.
Kevin is a tenor, not a bass, which always seems to surprise people. If you want to hear him sing more, try Imagine, Amazing Grace, Mary Did You Know?, A Little Space (the version with Ateez), Evolution of Michael Jackson and Evergreen. He also raps in Sing, Joyful Joyful and Butter x Dynamite and plays the cello in several songs. Or head off to his personal channel (K.O.) and check out his cover of Down in which he sings, loops, beatboxes and plays the cello. Multi-talented is an understatement.
I saw them in concert a few months ago, with a second row seat. They are JUST as good, just as tight, just as charismatic live as recorded. The talent is beyond comprehension. Plus - they seemed like genuinely kind people.
@@hcroussette , yep...they've been breaking away from total a capella in the last two or three years. Songs like Prayers For This World has strings and possibly other instruments in it.
You should hear Kirsten take the lead in "Say Something" it's a beautiful song, very powerful. Kevin does more in "Mary Did You Know". Thanks guys, great reaction.
It helps to remember that this band does live concerts - one track after another, night after night. Sharing the lead between members is not only good partnering, it's nearly essential to maintaining vocal health. And as long as they're transparent when using "out of body" instruments, the respect is still earned.
I don’t know if you have reacted to this, but their video for sound of silence is a good one to hear Mats singing ability. And oh my God his range is insane.
This group does not let ego get in the way of what is best for a song. They understand that the background is equal in importance with the lead. One only need to watch "Recording of Evergreen" and watch them spend so much time on 10 seconds worth of background vocals for "Over the River". They know how to do what they do. This song is amazing!
If you want to do more live, do anything from their Hollywood Bowl concert. It's live, but the recording is done by a professional, rather than on a cellphone.
One of their best covers for sure. Everyone was on point! Kirstie has a bunch of songs where she leads or has solos, check out their original Christmas song Santa Please!
I think they have always done a great job of making sure each person gets their own "spotlight". Kevin is so talented. He is also beatboxing (as well as Matt) as he plays the Cello. The Cello may be front and center, but Kevin continues to beatbox the beat, drums, etc. as he plays...it's so good!
Kevin has a TH-cam channel where he does music. If you haven't checked it out already you should definitely do so. He does a cover of Down by Marion Hill that is absolutely stunning!
The great thing about PTX is they are all ego-less. They don't feel a need to solo in every song, they know their talens are better suited to lead some songs and not others.
Kirsty is in a bunch of song leads, she's as capable of taking lead as any of the guys. Just listen to Santa Please a recent original song, Seasons of Love a live recording, Say Something I Rather be for upgrades, or Water another original from them. Plus she has a solo EP too.
I really hate hearing people say that Kirsten doesn't get her shine. She doesn't have to be out front every song. She does way more than enough in every song. Everyone has their part in the group
Haha please feel free to check out our playlist as for what we have seen so far. We know she has a lovely voice but we haven't listened to everything yet. 😂
PTX has frequently brought in an instrument or two, usually Kevin's cello and sometimes Scott's piano or Lindsey Stirling's violin (for Lindsey, check out Radioactive, Papatouai, and Over the River). Mitch has been rocking the baggy suits at least half the time for the last few years.
There are definitely sounds where Kirstin takes the lead. My fave is Say Something. The raw damn emotion she gives. But, lots of others. Dudes. Their rabbit hole is fucking massive!
Your absolutely right they are incredible live. I have had the privilege of seeing them live twice. Once in 2018 and again this past September. Their concerts are so much fun, they really engage with their audience and make them part of the show. I hope I get to see them again someday. Great reaction guys. Great Reaction. They have well over 200 covers and originals. They choose who sings what part based on what is best for the song. To see Kirsten shine react to Say Something, Amazing Grace, Be my Eyes ( an original) Please Santa Please, a brand new original, Water ( an original) Shallow, To see Matt and Kevin kill it their mashup of New Rules x Are You That Somebody?
