This is absolutely one of my favorites by PTX. Every single one of them shines. Kirstie's lead is perfect, Avi's part always brings a tear to my eyes (I am a HUGE Avi fan, so I might be biased toward him a bit). Kevin gets to play cello, beatbox, and sing in the same song. Scott and Mitch shine just as brightly in the background as they do in the forefront. Loved your changing looks of amazement. I hope you guys got a chance to listen to it straight through after this reaction. I know pausing is necessary for the algorithm, and expected for reaction purposes, but this is one song that REALLY benefits from letting the ebb and flow of intensity carry you with it. I hope you let yourselves experience that.
No you're right. I'm not one who listen to Avi often (even leaning towards a Matt bias even though I appriciate both for what they do). And you are spot on. Avi was the perfect choice at that part and really heightened the emotion. So not just your bias speaking there! I agree with you on the pausing in this one. Hope they watched it all way through off camera at least.
I love Light In The Hallway! Written by Scott and he asked Avi to sing it because of his beautiful, velvety voice! And Standing By is true Avi through and through! 💖
That's how they found Kevin Celloboxing on TH-cam. Perfect pitch and leads the tempo. Avi gave Kevin the Motivation and Courage to sing when they shared an apartment together when they all moved to LA. Scott wanted Kirstin to take the lead and show off her talent. They wanted this to be like a still photograph, but you can tell Scott is holding on to the chairs to stay still. They always show movement even when they are in individual boxes on a video. Thanks for the reaction.
There is a video called THANK YOU. Its a song Scott and his now husband co wrote during the pandemic. Scot is on piano, and Kevin on the chello. Its a must to check out
Pentatonix got their start on The Sing Off show. It was an acapella contest. They won (no surprise) season 3 in 2011. You can watch all their performances and watch them grow over the 6-8 week show. You should react to all of them!
#Pentatonix. This performance is so emotional. It has always been one of my favorite of their upgrades. It’s hard for me to make recommendations because I love all their songs but their originals are worth listening to-Anchor, Coffee in bed-Be my eyes. Love your facial expressions during the reactions. Thanks for loving PTX
Agreed on your choices. Also a reminder that Anchor is audio with visualizer/lyrics only. The Lucky Ones album was special in that all the pieces on it are originals.
So much emotion I could feel the heartbreak but I also felt of twinge of anger seeing the look of hurt on Kirstin's face. Who could hurt her like that? ( yes I know is was acting, but it looked like she was channeling some real hurt)
Pentatonix makes an effort to make each of their songs unique and worth a listen. People tend to recommend the most popular songs, but there are many that are not reacted to nearly enough. Some of my favorites -- "God Only Knows" (Beach Boys), "Shallow" (Lady Gaga), "Attention" (Charlie Puth), "New Rules x Are You That Somebody (Dua Lipa X Aaliya), "La La Latch" (Naughty Boy x Disclosure), "Happy Now" (original), "Dreams" (The Cranberries)
I sometimes forget what a lovely arrangement this is! With Light in the Hallway and Standing By (two PTX originals) it’s a top favorite Avi solo while he was in Pentatonix. I vaguely recall hearing this the first time and being surprised by Kirstin’s power behind her belt. Now I know her incredible belt is one of her superpowers! Great reaction!
Chills every time with this one! I hope you will get to some of their originals like Love Again and Coffee in Bed. Also Popspring 2016, New Rules x Are You That Somebody and Rather Be are brilliant. #PTX
#PTX. I love this song. They did such a beautiful job and Avi's part brings tears to your eyes. You can feel the lyrics he sings to your soul. Great reaction.❤❤❤❤
I love this upgrade!! Anytime I hear it I get goosebumps. If you want more calm songs listen to Run To You and Can't Help Falling In Love With You. Thank you for your reaction!!
Happy New Year to you guys! They actually filmed this while they were on tour. Oldies request: La La Latch and/or Rather Be. two of my favorite oldies. :)
Such spectacular arranging in this one to bring out the emotion. They manage desperate wailing, hopeless silence, vulnerability, all of the emotions that fit with the lyrics. They are so good at bringing the right sounds and people out for the perfect effect. Avi for example is a spectacular choice for when some extra emotion is needed. Kevin is often brought in for a bit of an innocent and almost childlike tone. They are soooo good!

Avi has a uniquely emotional voice! When Scott wrote a beautiful and heartfelt lullaby for his nephew he insisted that Avi sing the lead because of the quality of emotion in his voice, it’s called Light in the hallway. You can definitely hear it in his solo music. He has such a moving voice. Kirstie also has it. They all show it in O holy night.
I was away for a few days, so I missed this one. I was a huge fan of the original…but then PTX did it. Bet you can’t figure out which is my favorite now. 😉 this is only the 2nd time Kevin had played his cello in a video. The first is RADIOACTIVE which also has Lindsey Stirling on violin. Can’t remember if you’ve watched that one or not. 🤗💋🥰
Recommend their “Pentatonix - The Recording Of Evergreen”. It shows how their Grammy nominated album, Evergreen, was made. Joey, due to spoilers, you should react to The Prayer first.
#PTX. This is in my top 5 all-time PTX favorites list. That list is subject to change, depending on what I've listened to recently, but this one never leaves it! An interesting note about the video: it's supposed to be a throwback to those old-time photographs, where the subject had to sit still for several minutes during the exposure, so that's why there's so little movement in the video. That was especially hard on Scott, who sings with his hands almost as much as his mouth - he had to hold on to the chairs in front of him to remind himself not to use his hands, and there are several shots where you can see his arms jerking as he starts to move and then remembers he's supposed to stand still! Poor guy! 😄
I hope you’ll listen to Avi solo, it’s very different from what he did in PTX but so, so beautiful! Most people start with Change on the rise, his first release after leaving PTX, but really anything of his is worth a listen.
They were perfectly amazing from the beginning and they kept getting more amazing along the way. Who’d have thought? Great reaction! You were great from the start and you just keep getting better! 🥰
I'm told that it's impolite to compare songs from different bands (I was also taught that children should be seen but never heard), so without naming names I'll just say that this version is by far the best I've ever heard.
Great reaction, guys! I also have to compliment you on your audio. I've listened to many reactions and I heard all the subtleties on this one. Back story details to this song is that Kirsten was not feeling well and Scott had a death grip on those chairs, because, as you know, his hands are a lot of his emoting! The fact that Avi and Kevin had big parts in this one is a plus, as well. You can feel the emotion in this song, and that's what makes it brilliant!
So glad you reviewed this 😊it's beautiful ❤ have a look at Kevin s 5th symphony , it's so good !! I don't know if you ve done the prayer yet ,but that's absolutely beautiful too , love your reaction s 😊
This is the first song on my #PTX playlist, and it is just so good! I love it when you get completely mesmerized by the music and appear to space out for a second.
I wish you would react to their original song “sing” very upbeat. It would show the difference between a song like this so peaceful to the other extreme of up beat
Great reaction. This is usually not a first recommendation given to reactors because to enjoy it the most you need to know a little about PTX in my opinion. Their catalog is huge and they truly do the parts based on what is best for the song. They were all amazing but Kirstie and Avi were centered for sure. They all are amazing individually and together they create magic. I have heard the set is meant to be a photo shoot of sorts. Kirstie in a chair, Mitch and Scott behind her ( Scott had to hold on to the chair clutching sometimes to keep his hands still) The emotion is from their voices, the song and their harmonies are what shines. The backdrop looks like a photo shoot. But there is also a ladder and the picture frame on the table is empty. You might like Papaoutai with Lindsey Stirling and I also believe you are ready for “Aha, Singapore”. A very specific live version of the song Aha. Often called “ where is Kevin?@ because Kevin is offstage at the start putting away his cello. A fan recorded it and they mostly videod Mitch, but you can hear Kevin. Yes. I think you are ready to hear it. I am sure your seats have seatbelts and you have access to helmets if needed. 😂
Thanks for your reaction to this stunning masterpiece! Yes, I agree with you about the blends of harmonies with Pentatonix, Home Free and Voice Play and it is because they have all known each other for so long you can see and feel the love there. Yes, I love Kevin's cello playing while beatboxing and agree that it brings so much when it is included. The cello you see here is named "Beyonce" by Kevin and the electric one that you saw him rock out on in "Down" and "Kissed By A Rose" was named Mr Carter by Kevin's mom. I would love to see a collaboration of Layne from Voice Play playing the violin and beat boxing with Kevin celloboxing. Keep an eye out for Voice Play's new release today that will show us a little of Violayne's talent.
I think when you play it straight through without pausing you feel the natural progression of the song going up. Maybe listening to it again you'll appreciate it more & not desire for it to stay mellow like it was in the first half?
I know what you mean, it's just a personal preference where I proffered it more on the gentle side with this style of song. It's still amazing though and very talented

This was amazing and yeah most songs get listened to and enjoyed in our free time 😊 Thank you for your comment
One of their originals, "Light In the Hallway", is really beautiful. The harmonies are top notch, and Avi has the lead vocal. I think you'd like it.
And there's also "Standing By", where Avi has the emotional lead in a song he was the primary writer of.
I love Light In The Hallway! Written by Scott and he asked Avi to sing it because of his beautiful, velvety voice! And Standing By is true Avi through and through! 💖
We will have to check it out ☺️
If you like the cello, you HAVE to watch one of their collaborations with Lindsay Stirling! Fadioactive is my absolute favorite ❤❤❤
PTX say to KO right we want you to beatbox, play cello and sing. KO says no problem!!!
That's how they found Kevin Celloboxing on TH-cam. Perfect pitch and leads the tempo. Avi gave Kevin the Motivation and Courage to sing when they shared an apartment together when they all moved to LA.

When "impact" by Avi its called an Avi-lanch... or Avi attack 😅
Getting KOed at the end is one of the reasons I like this performance so much
Haha love it!
Pentatonix Shallow is another piece where Kevin's Cello is perfect for the song
We will have to check that one out
Avi by himself is amazing.
Look at "All is Well"
"Quarter past 4"
Thank you for the recommendations
Please react to "Rather Be", it was Kirsties first song in that she took the lead.

Shallow is an awesome song with the cello as well. Also, come along and Gold are excellent

You really also need to listen to.
Pantatonics version of shallow.
It's gorgeous..
You need to her Pentatonix with run to you, silent night and light in a hallway
This one always gets me in the feels.

And a new song coming Feb 2!
@@heatherhuard And it sounds like it's going to be retro rock, with a nod to 70's rock.

#PTX Dancing on My Own.

😂. Truth.

I love Avi's voice in this song almost as much as I love Geoff Castellucci's second verse of Shenandoah!
