Just wanted to inform you that yuki kaijura is a huge Jun fan and vanitas and pH are her fav mangas so SHe kinda does almost every project related to it(Plus Jun and yuki are very good friends)
After catching up with Vanitas no Carte manga (since the anime aired), I tried reading Pandora Hearts (because the fans always mentions this one) and after finishing Pandora Hearts manga, I'm now fvckin scared on what Jun Mochizuki is going to do to with Vanitas no Carte's story. I can't wait for the author to drop the reverse uno card Also Pandora Hearts is a fvckin great manga 10/10 for my enjoyment. Needs an anime remake
Do you mean like how vanitas would die athe end? Cause I searched what vanitas means and it ties in. Now is just telling the story of him and vanitas adventures and how he kills him. But I’m with you I hope u she pulls a uno reverse card I want him and Jeanne to be together 😖😖
It's refreshing to finally see an overview on Vanitas that basically voiced everything I love about the manga, even though this was largely about the anime. I 100% agree with your point on its "dripfeeding" type storytelling Mochizuki has going on with this story. Every chapter brings something new, whether for world and/or character development, and it really makes for a wonderfully engaging experience.
I honestly love how Movhizuki writes. Pandora hearts is a masterpiece imo but most of my friends stopped reading midway because you just have to pay a lot of attention to keep up with all the information
Drip feeding indeed. I still remember that after reading 12 chapters of pandora hearts I was still just as lost as when I was reading the first chapter .😂
yes, you've got it!!! the character growth and the worldbuilding slowly revealing themselves and so, the history itself, is exactly the style of mochijun, and why vanitas is so rewarding to read/watch. sadly, lots of people seem to really not get it so i'm very happy you gave it an opportunity and ended up liking it so much!!!
This is a first. I fell in love with the dynamic of Jeanne and Vanitas' relationship. It seems forced and the power imbalance may seem bad at the beginning, but their developments are beautiful. He helps her realize that she's not a mere tool; and they both learn to love. Vanitas is a horrible human being he thinks, that's why he steps on others and looks for reactions like he did with Jeanne. He's insecure and his past is so sad, and I love how their power dynamics swapped. Jeanne is basically the dominant one now lol. I just love their relationship and the characters itself, especially Vanitas being in denial about love.
yes this!! i hate to see how ppl on TikTok can't see past their first encounter and him forcing himself on her, and no one is saying it's justified, but it's basically a stepping stone for his and also hers character development later on. They both jave unresolved trauma and don't know what really loving someone means, but together they're slowly but surely working towards that. I hate how one-dimensionally people view this stuff nowadays, no one puts more thought into proper analysis, they cling onto one argument they have and that's it.
@@marnie7280 I read PH and I had in mind to read VNC in the future but what really made me begin the anime was a video about these two by accident and I was hooked. I knew Jun's other works which are phenomenal but I never thought I would love Vanitas & Jeanne's relationship as I am now after seeing both seasons; I just love the development from enemies to harassing? to partners to seeing the vulnerability of the other to protecting each other to falling in love with each other. If you get over their first kiss you get to know their inner selves through this bond they form and I love every moment of it!
You wound me as someone who has most of his personality traits in common with vanitas I'm flamboyant, loud, passionate, hate formalities, and have been told I'm the sweetest ass hole on this earth but I don't see it
Technically, Mochizuki Jun, the mangaka, has been drawing and honing her craft long before any of these series. However, when put into anime format, there is usually an in-house studio character designer that modifies the manga art to fit an anime adaptation. That's why you can get studios like SHAFT (Monogatari series, Mekakucity Actors, Nisekoi, etc) and KyoAni (Chuunibyou, Violet Evergarden, A Silent Voice, etc) which are largely known for their very distinct art styles.
I would not be surprised if Yuki Kajiura actually took a lower pay for this project. In an interview with MochiJun (Jun Mochizuki's name in the fandom), she had told her that if Pandora Hearts got a sequel, she better be called. Unfortunately the anime never received a sequel, but Vanitas is a MochiJun work nonetheless.
Also I'd like to add that it is never too late to get into Pandora Hearts. The story is AMAZING, and I firmly believe it is a story that should be read by everyone. The beginning can be a bit rough, but it only gets better, and much better at that. If you ever find yourself having time, read it. You will not regret it.
I got into Mochijun's work because of Pandora Hearts and Case Study of Vanitas is just as great as that. The way she only gives us so much information at one time has to be so hard to pull off but she does it extremely well very time. It makes you question the information you do have once something new pops up. Trying to put all of the pieces together in order to get the full picture. Though you never truly get that full picture until she reveals all of the facts to you, usually during the final chapters.
Pandora hearts is my absolute fave manga out there, ive reread it so may times and i still love to do so from time to time, so when vanitas as a manga came out, that also was my reason for reading it ^^
"Studio Bones Don't Miss." A-Freaking-MEN. Fullmetal, Ouran, Space Dandy, My Hero, Bungo, Noragami, Wolf's Rain, Soul Eater, Mob Psycho, Darker Than Black, HisoMaso, Carole & Tuesday, Kekkai Sensen..and SO many others. Now THIS. I found it about half way in and devoured all 6 eps in a night. They are just...prolific.
Jun mochizuki is known for making stories with no real antagonist, every characters being a hero just as much as a vilain, and God, this is just so great. Pandora hearts had some of the most incredible plot twists in Manga history, every single chapter changed our view of the entire Manga in only a few panels (which, by the way, are genius too. The amount of emotions and hints she passes through her gorgeous drawings are phenomenal), and the case study of vanitas does just that too. To everyone reading this, watch it, or if you can, read it. Only nine volumes in, this is easily a masterpiece
jun mochizuki is actually a genius writter in fact she hooks you up so goof that she does spins and turns in the most unexpected and nonsensical direction and you'd still eat it all up. i read the pandora hearts manga like my life depended on it and it's only when i was done that i realized what it really was: a long ass ride of anything and everything happening all at once that breaks your heart for absolutely no reason because anyone who dies will reborn as the same person they were. I think it's amazing how they gets us so good that we'll like anything they do with their story
Thank you for taking note of the queer code behind Noé and Vanitas! I have only watched the anime thus far, but their relationship has got to be my favorite in the series. Even if they are not romantically involved (even in my fantasies) , I have to say that the underlying care and that little bit of tension between them is delightful to watch. The way that Vanitas goes about his relationship with Jeanne also intrigues me (albeit I was sad to watch this so called powerful warrior turn into yet another weak love interest. I still have hope that it can change, but..
@@Fallen-SaintShe’s not weak but that’s how she’s sort of portrayed in the story since her character (and power) is sidelined so much, and a lot of times when she appears she’s being pushed around by Vanitas. Although the newest developments in the manga give me hope that we’ll see more of her being badass in the future. Edit: I just realized I replied to a 2 year old comment lmao, I’m sorry.
Jun Mochizuki is a master of just dropping information that changes everything on you casually. Preferably as late as she can...and I love it . Pandora Hearts is a manga masterpiece and I recommend it to all who prefer this form of storytelling and crazy twists that make you feel like you are Jon Snow and know nothing.
Frankly, I'm very upset about how the Pandora Hearts anime ended. The heart of the story begins exactly at the end of the anime. And calling it simply "romance" is very wrong because even if you as a viewer believe that it exists, in reality you are wrong or it's very, very subtle so as not to affect the already very complicated story. I love the psychology of the characters. This is why I already knew that The case study of Vanitas would be just as good! I hope that the anime continues together with the manga and that they don't make the same mistake as the previous one. However there are definitely many points in common between "The case study of Vanitas" and "Pandora Hearts" which I believe at this point, are just part of the author's style. Like some behaviors of certain characters, especially with the co-stars who manage to break the tension at the right time (or wrong. It depends on the point of view xD). Or the world that is formed according to new and rigid rules that must not be broken. Or the typical tragedy of a city / town that starts a series of events that will lead to the beginning of the heroes' adventure. Traumatized characters. There are those who you think are stupid, but in reality hiding inside a trauma or an obsession. In short, there are things in common ... So I think that even rightly those who loved Pandora Hearts, will also love this manga. And for this reason I'm afraid to think about the plot twist that will lead to the ending because it could be bittersweet xD (sorry my bad English)
Yes ! The drip feeding style of mochizuki jun !! I remember reading Pandora hearts and being completely mind blown with each and every chapter ! Not a single chapter was boring , rather the second half when she starts casually adding plot twist to another in every chapter was such a ride !! Also gotta say that what i love most about her story's and characters is the mysterious unique feeling surrounding it ,like it's no just entertaining it's very charming and alluring !
@@abhinavarushi9 hello , if u mean Pandora hearts , the manga's art and composition is far better ! But u still gotta watch the anime to not miss on Yuki kajiora's godly soundtrack ! If u are talking about vanitas no carte , the anime is great so far 👌
I absolutely loved Vanitas no Carte! The animation, the story telling, the mystery of each character and the feelings oozing out of the screen - it was like it absorbed you into this magical story. I kept forgetting that Noe had revealed he killed Vanitas, because I was so captivated by what was happening at the moment and trying to analyse every scene. It's simply a master piece and I hope we get another season!
SAME I started Vanitas no Carte when there was around 20 chapters because I'm a big fan of Pandora Hearts (FREAKING LOVE THIS MANGA) and I was interested in the autor's new work, and I gotta say Jun Mochizuki is a genius. Her stories are so well written, the characters are so mysterious, powerful and handsome, the artstyle is chief kiss, and the themes in them are always interesting and deep, there're plot-twist after plot-twist, the MC really stands out (compared to some other mangas where the MC just fades and is too "basic" in his world). I'm super hype for her next work and also can't wait to see the ending of Vanitas
I’m very picky with my tastes. I’ll usually find nitpicks or subjective flaws to pick apart a series on. But my cynical, over critical ass just ADORES this Manga. The characters, the world and the wondrous illustration all just oozes life and passion. I think this story is one of the biggest motivators for me to create a series in the future because in my eyes, it is near perfection with its story telling. It even made me watch the anime adaptation and I don’t watch anime like I used to. Bones did solid but nothing could really compare to the pure excellence that is the Manga. I want to see this story get more popularity in the future!
aS a MaNgA ReAdeR part 2 is going to be absolutely incredible. my prediction is that this cour is gonna cover the first three arcs and the second cour is gonna cover all of the fourth arc which is really just jun mochizuki at her absolute best imo. by the way your channel is really underrated
@@heartunderbruh7735 Yup same.Something tells me the main plot twist might be even more twisted then pandora i dont know why but i just feel something like this plus the teacher and luca s brother Are pretty interesting and soo intriguing tbh i just cant wait for their main debut!
@@shrimpfrylu Its pretty soon to make that judgement no one knows how things will end up i mean fmab was in the same situation in the start.(Plus imo vanitas is superior to chainsaw in every way no offence though but i never really liked csm but thats just me so u can ignore my opinion on that)
Yuki kajiura is a fan of jun mochizuki She read pandora hearts before being even assigned to the anime project. The same goes with case study of vanitas. Her being a fan is one reason for picking her to do the music The other is because her doing the soundtracks for jun's previous work was a success. Try listening to the soundtracks ... they are brilliant
ok le chasseur and a snake in the grass are my two FAVORITE tracks due to how well she executed them. The vocals for le chasseur are BEAUTIFUL and the overall theme from a snake in the grass just amazes me. Yuki has shot up in my favorite composers by just existing.
I think the op fits quite well. The lyrics describe the relationship between vanitas and noe, with the latter bringing the joy of living back to vanitas
I’ve watched Pandora hearts and it was PURE GOLD. pretty underrated honestly, but it was indeed beautiful. I’ve started Vanitas no Carte 3 days ago, and I immediately knew that the creator was the person who did Pandora Hearts, honestly hope that both will blow up soon. I give Pandora hearts a 10/10, and to Vanitas no Carte for now a 9/10 soon a 10/10 after the thing will be complete
You are absolutely right about the soundtrack. The lighthearted, happy intro signifies the more easygoing relationship between Noe and Vanitas, plus the more lighthearted mood of the show, and the cool and calming ending 0 is SUCH a banger (I play it almost every day it’s my favorite anime song since Soul Eater’s intros) and signifies the current place of Noe and Vanitas’ relationship (very relaxed and just getting acquainted). The absolutely stunning music for the fight scenes and other scenes gives so much life to the world and makes it feel special. And then there’s season two, with a much more intense soundtrack imo. When I first heard the intro, I thought “yeah it’s getting darker and more serious now” and honestly, I’d like to say I was right. The ending is also indicative of Noe and Vanitas’ relationship in season two, as it shows them walking on a (very symbolic) beach together and slowly drifting apart. As secrets are being kept and they’re unpacking more and more about their pasts, as well as some big baddies showing up (trying my hardest not to spoil lol), there’s a lot of tension between the two, and we even see Noe approach Vanitas differently than usual at the end. He’s much more hesitant, like he’s scared of getting too close. TL:DR - The soundtracks for seasons 1 and 2 are absolute BANGERS that are extremely purposeful and reveal both the tone of the story as it shifts and the relationship between the two main characters, Noe and Vanitas. Highly recommend you listen to the 1st season’s ending 0 (Zero) by LMYK
I'm so wildly excited to see how Vanitas plays out. Pandora Hearts was my first read-all-the-way-through manga and it was when it was still being released, so there was sometimes quite the torturous wait between volumes, sometimes months, because I was determined to read the physical copy and not an online translation. It's held as my favourite manga ever since- the well crafted story alone is great enough but that feeling of excitement when I finally got the newest volume, and the agony when I realized that volume ended with a cliffhanger and I had to wait for another few months, was such an enormous part of the experience that nothing else since has compared. Vanitas had caught my eye as I kept seeing clips of it online a few months back, the character designs alone had me hooked but I had no idea it was from Jun Mochizuki so that was already a delightful surprise... and then to see that the manga isn't finished yet?? It's Pandora Hearts all over again! I am SO unbelievably ready to stalk bookstores again waiting for the new releases, to have my heart crushed at every new development and cliffhanger, to be tempted with but refuse the ease of online reading. Already going through that agony since the first three volumes (and volume 7 for some reason?) are out of stock everywhere I've looked, but I feel like I've got a spark in me again. I had no doubts when it was Pandora Hearts and I have no doubts about Vanitas either- the wait will be worth it.
I'm so glad that you're giving Vanitas and Mochizuki recognition and praise! :) Vanitas is definitely a very deftly and thoughtfully woven tale. This was a well-done video, but I want to respectfully add that you erred on conflating the Teacher with the being you called "Charlatan" (which is not their name BTW) though the semblance is definitely probable. Their identities are developed later on and you'll see they aren't the same. :) Otherwise, your takes and analysis are on point! I hope you continue enjoying the series. :)
YOu seriousy need to read pandora hearts!!! Its a story like no other and vanitas is close..And all the adapted source material till now was the weakest part of the manga and vanitas its going to get amazing in the later half. Especially in the 2nd cour thats where the real plot will kick in..Also pay attention to vanitas expressions, they are quite important as they serve as a insight to his character and that is one of the biggest mysteries of the series till now..
@@wolfsbergarts727 Lucky i cant buy the manga where i live through good means(COnsidering they are not reliable.) But yes the beast of guvadin arc is just fire!!
It's so great to see people loving this anime. I've been reading the manga since it came out in English and I've read all of Jun Mochizuki's other stories and she is an INCREDIBLE writer and artist. This gives me hope for a Pandora Hearts reboot.
now that you've had a taste of MochiJun, I recommend you go read Pandora Hearts. Seriously it's just THAT good. You'll find all those things you loved in Vanitas there, and more.
I have so many thoughts about MochiJun’s work, so strap in lol- (no spoilers don’t worry) I think reading Pandora Hearts is definitely a good way to predict how some things are going to go in Vanitas no Carte. There are some interesting parallels between characters in each series, Gil and Noé probably being the most well-known one, that have helped me to get a picture of their roles in VNC. MochiJun definitely has some repeating tropes that, frankly, make me a bit nervous having read and been devastated by Pandora Hearts in middle school, knowing where she likes to take these character archetypes… lol What you said about drip feeding is very apt! This approach was also something that MochiJun did in PH and it allowed for her to pull off plot twists in a very effective way. I think the slow build helps to put all the pieces together from the beginning, and avoid completely overturning old information. And Yuki Kajiura! The Pandora Hearts soundtrack is widely known to be the best part of the anime, so I was thrilled when I found out she returned for VNC. I have to admit, I get frustrated with people who only care about the romance in VNC more than other aspects, and I have a feeling they’re going to be disappointed if MochiJun doesn’t take the sort of traditional approach they expect, and I really don’t want to see EVEN MORE trashing of VNC because of this. I keep seeing really strong opinions about shipping, but characters in MochiJun’s work usually have strong connections that tend to break typical relationship archetypes, and I think a lot of what people are expecting isn’t going to be met. I’ve already seen a lot of negativity about this and I wish people would keep a more open mind. You mentioned the relationship between Noé and Vanitas being a little queercoded, and I think it’s important to note that MochiJun’s way of writing relationships tends to be pretty queer. Where I think a lot of people are setting themselves up for disappointment, is the assumption that this queerness comes in the form of a traditionally romantic gay relationship. In the reverse, I think people who are hoping for a traditionally romantic straight relationship are also setting themselves up for disappointment. I think people need to prepare a little more for less traditional romance and plenty of heartbreak, lol. That being said, MochiJun DID say she wanted to include more romance in this story, so I think if people keep an open mind, they will be well-fed. As for 10:34 (cough) I…can definitely see it happening based on previous writing, lol… but I’m definitely not going to take it at face value either. Great video summarizing why VNC is a story worth getting into!
As someone who's read pandora hearts a couple years ago and has reread again a couple times, it really shows how amazing Jun is. I started reading The study case of vanitas a couple days ago and it's great so far o-o As said in the video, ignore those that make (questionable) fan art -especially for Pandora hearts- as it isn't very accurate (as Pandora hearts focuses more on extremely deep friendships over romance since there's little to none) manga works of Jun mochizuki in case you're interested: Pandora Hearts The Study Case of Vanitas Crimson Shell I don't know if there's more but it's great to see Jun's work getting more recognition! Maybe Pandora hearts anime will get a reboot/remake I don't know what to call it-
All of the universes that Jun Mochizuki creates are just amazing. This was a long waited anime and it was worth it. Also, I've always been a huge fan of Kajiura's work since I watched Pandora hearts.
The dripfeeding storytelling is the same thing that got me into Witch Hat Atelier and The Girl from the Other Side (the same year 2018 coincidentally). Definitely recommend those two manga too!
Jun mochizuki's stories as you have seen are not simple. Revealing a big thing at the first episode is not new to her. In pandora hearts series its revealed in the begining that the main character's father (Oz's dad) is the one who send him to the abyss himself. But by the end of the series when Oz himself know of this fact the world and circumstances and the facts you know make you see that in a completely different way from the begining of the seriea. So I think Noe killing Vanitas revealing will also be something like that. I cant wait for season 2 and I hope it get a full adaptation. I hope for pandora hearts to get a remake the manga is genius 11/10 ❤
This really helped open my eyes for what i need to learn when it comes to writing. I’ve never been more excited to start from scratch. Hope i can bring something to life just like this 😭
Watching this anime is one of the ones where I am almost bored in between being intrigued, like you said it decides to "drip feed" you the world and I'm very slow so I often forget details of the show that are vital to understanding it almost right away which means I spen 3/4 of my watching experience pressing rewind trying to understand what in the hell is going on. I love this show for the art style but I still think the pacing of the plot still has a long way to go before it can reach popularity I also think the reason it might never get quite as popular is because it's not accomodable to first-time or casual watchers because it requires to watch over every minute of the show even if it's a comic relief moment you still gotta have full focus while watching or you'll miss vital points Overall amazing animation and amazing plot (once you can finally understand it) 7/10
If the anime can animate chapters from the gevaudan arc then i would say it would end the anime fantastically and have people waiting for future events to come for the anime
Pandora hearts story really deserve a reboot with a wonderful studio like studio bones. The anime was good but a lot of lines where changed making the anime less dark. I liked that studio bones didnt do the same with Vanitas anime, they are making a good job of adaptation I hope they keep that up
amazing! im literally addicted and wish there were more episodes. the art is beautiful and the storyline and characters, just amazing. I let the intro and outdo song play all the way through every time
Vanitas is the first story since Full Metal Alchemist in my opinion to perfectly capture the action, comedy, romance, world building , steam punk astectic and alternat history, and that’s made all the more apparent when taking into account the author saying FMA is her greatest inspiration and favorite manga. Debatably the greatest success of this series is making vampires sexy again. ( DAMN YOU TO HELL Twilight!) due to the unique way vampires came about in this universe drinking blood is not required for them to live, it’s like candy or drugs and often leads to sex.( or in combat situations it leans a temporary power boost like Popeyes’s spinach) In many ways drinking blood in Vanitas has turned into the step farther than kissing but not quite as intimate as sex. Yet at the same time it requires more trust in the partner, as if it’s not consensual or the two have bad body chemistry it can lead to health issues.( at least between humans and vampires , they haven’t out right said but from what’s been seen except for taste and enjoyment level it’s not much of a risk for Vampire on Vampire. Aside from the fact that if you move to much you can nic a major artery.) and you know, they whole getting a bite taken out of you thing.
I actually didn’t really planned to watch Vanitas no Carte, after knowing it’s created by the same mangaka as Pandora Hearts, I watched it and I did not regret it
"early on it is reveled that noe is actually a orphan found in the human world passed around from a vampire slave owner to a vampire slave owner" i dont know whether ot cry or laugh at this line
The anime won my heart after the first few episodes. Especially the ending song is straight up beautiful, the OP is great as well. BUT THAT PLOT IS THICC
I finished the anime yesterday and finished the Manga today and on my goodness it was absolutely wonderful ! I love it especially the relationship between Vanitas and Jeanne 💕
I didn't watch video yet but I agree with the title, I was so hyped when the mangaka for Pandora Hearts made a new manga, I went right ahead to buy and read it, it's just so good, and now with the anime, dang I was so hyped!!!! I'm still hyped of course, it's just too good, I love it and I'm glad that more people are getting to know and watch this masterpiece!!!
I love the Pandora Hearts series. I found it on a whim and it has become my favorite series of all time. I can't recommend the series enough. I am happy VnC got an anime though I'll never watch it cause I don't watch anime I only really read manga. I hope that the attention to VnC will hopefully get them to remake the Pandora Hearts anime and introduce more people to these two series because Mochizuki is an amazing writer and artist. I can proudly say she is my favorite mangaka.
I'm so in love with the animation I have a gif saved from the first episode where vanitas and noe are falling out of the airship and it goes from black to beautiful city over view
I was hesitant to continue the anime after all the fanservice scenes, but I'm glad I kept going. Noe is a wonderful main character to follow, which I think is very important for any story. He keeps it wholesome while constantly representing the audience's curiosity abt the world. The most recent episodes, especially after Roland's introduction, have been incredibly good, & the story is really starting to take off in unexpected directions. I can't wait to see what happens next & who we'll come to meet.
I get where the shipping stuff in Pandora hearts come from but seriously man it's hella more than that. Id even go as far as to say it's the best shonen manga.
Vanitas no carte is so good. I caught up with the manga and the animation is just beautifully done. Beautiful music. A good job adapting the manga too. The worldbuilding and character writing is amazing as well. Really one of the best manga i‘ve read so far. So thank you for recognizing the worth of this manga/anime 🙏
I accidentally stumbled into MochiJun's Pandora Hearts when I was like fifteen(?). And man oh man, what a journey it was. I looked into her other work, Crimson Shell, and whooooo. It's the type of stuff that you have to go through multiple times to digest and even then it always feels like there's something new to see. I am very excited to see where she is taking Vanitas to but also scared cause (SPOILER) I still cry every time I reread Xerxes Break's death.
It all makes sense! I used to be into Pandora Hearts as a tween so to find out the author for PH is also making The Case Study Of Vanitas just makes sense because I just as equally love it just as much.
when you read the manga you realize the characters complexity and dynamics are complex as fuck besides the overlying argument that is yet to unfold leaves a lot of questions for a not so shonen manga
I literally love pandora hearts so much. its my all time favorite manga and i urge you to read it whenever you get the chance :) mochizuki is such a great story teller its insane (the anime is trash dont even bother with it)
I swear the anime is so beautiful I am both can’t look forward and dreading when Misha and vanitas past get animated lol, it’s such tradegy Also this is funny and not related but vanitas tries to turn to carnitas on iPad spellcheck 😝😂
vanitas is in my top 10 favorite anime i love all the characters and the voice acting is disturbing how good it is I hope the manga continues i was sad when i saw the manga has not gotten a new chapter for a while
YES TO EVERYTHING!!! Great analysis and super well explained I loved it!! the only thing this story ever did wrong is how somehow Noe and Vanitas are not endgame lol but oh well
They made an anime of it!?!?!? Yaaaaaaaaaaas. I never finished this one. I love Pandora Hearts, but I’m not crazy of the anime. ‘Twas a sad one with such beautiful art.
This might be because I'm not good at watching anime, but for Guren Lagann and Vanitas, I completely forgot about the part where the story gets spoiled. I was surprised when you said that Vanitas gets killed. Also I agreed with that part about Ohara spoiling one piece
one of the most underrated anime! i hope in these years it's get more attention... because this anime is really an art! the story and the characters is very well maded even the concept is exotic (nowdays vampire stories is pretty rare) but even how this anime is serving the sexuality and romance is an another master level! most of anime has a tasteless fanservice!!! but this anime is really unique in this way :S has a very good and unique taste for the whole romance-sexuality and even this chanel is not the blood!
I was made aware of the show by randomly seeing a clip of balcony scene between Vanitas and Jeanne Came for the hot vampire action, stayed for the story, animation, and the hot vampire action
How did I not know Studio Bones animated this anime. It’s absolutely gorgeous to watch, I should’ve figured. I’m only halfway through the show and I’m absolutely loving it.
OMG I DIDN'T KNEW THE AUTHOR DID PANDORA HEART TOO!!! THAT'S WHY IT FELT SO FAMILIAR!!!!! Pandora heart is really beautiful, there's the anime but it cover just half of the manga

It's refreshing to finally see an overview on Vanitas that basically voiced everything I love about the manga, even though this was largely about the anime. I 100% agree with your point on its "dripfeeding" type storytelling Mochizuki has going on with this story. It became apparent very quickly exactly how Mochizuki writes. Glad you enjoyed!

Glad I discovered it, and I do plan on reading Pandora Hearts soon!
@@Akezura Yesss I hope you enjoy it. Pandora Hearts is a masterpiece but not many people give it a chance and the bad anime adaptation didn't help :'(
I still don’t quite understand it, but could you explain everything through the first 6 eps that’s important?
@@Akezura I finished it a moth or two ago, so I must ask: have you watched the masterpiece yet?
"not get it" you trying to be a smart ass?
@@marnie7280 Agree
@@marnie7280 I read PH and I had in mind to read VNC in the future but what really made me begin the anime was a video about these two by accident and I was hooked. I knew Jun's other works which are phenomenal but I never thought I would love Vanitas & Jeanne's relationship as I am now after seeing both seasons; I just love the development from enemies to harassing? to partners to seeing the vulnerability of the other to protecting each other to falling in love with each other. If you get over their first kiss you get to know their inner selves through this bond they form and I love every moment of it!
I agree man

Technically, Mochizuki Jun, the mangaka, has been drawing and honing her craft long before any of these series. However, when put into anime format, there is usually an in-house studio character designer that modifies the manga art to fit an anime adaptation. That's why you can get studios like SHAFT (Monogatari series, Mekakucity Actors, Nisekoi, etc) and KyoAni (Chuunibyou, Violet Evergarden, A Silent Voice, etc) which are largely known for their very distinct art styles.
FRRR vanitas reminds me of dazai 😩
I definately plan on it!

Pandora Hearts was my first anime and manga and I will forever be greatful to her
To be honest, I still can't move forward from Pandora Hearts. i will find myself googling about it from time to time. has special place in my heart.

Yessssssss
Bro, she's not a week love interest
@@Fallen-SaintShe’s not weak but that’s how she’s sort of portrayed in the story since her character (and power) is sidelined so much, and a lot of times when she appears she’s being pushed around by Vanitas. Although the newest developments in the manga give me hope that we’ll see more of her being badass in the future. Edit: I just realized I replied to a 2 year old comment lmao, I’m sorry.
@@roki_00 Vanitis my love 😭 !!!!! give me season 3 i am a anime watcher
i loved pandora hearts
And for this reason I'm afraid to think about the plot twist that will lead to the ending because it could be bittersweet xD
(sorry my bad English)

Yuki kajiura is a fan of jun mochizuki
She read pandora hearts before being even assigned to the anime project.
The same goes with case study of vanitas.
Her being a fan is one reason for picking her to do the music
The other is because her doing the soundtracks for jun's previous work was a success.
Try listening to the soundtracks ... they are brilliant

After watching this video, I’m compelled to reread Pandora Hearts again for the nth time…thank you.
Otherwise, your takes and analysis are on point! I hope you continue enjoying the series. :)
Oh wow, it goes to show how much you aren't given about the story early on
YOu seriousy need to read pandora hearts!!! Its a story like no other and vanitas is close..And all the adapted source material till now was the weakest part of the manga and vanitas its going to get amazing in the later half. Especially in the 2nd cour thats where the real plot will kick in..Also pay attention to vanitas expressions, they are quite important as they serve as a insight to his character and that is one of the biggest mysteries of the series till now..

now that you've had a taste of MochiJun, I recommend you go read Pandora Hearts. Seriously it's just THAT good. You'll find all those things you loved in Vanitas there, and more.
I have so many thoughts about MochiJun’s work, so strap in lol- (no spoilers don’t worry)
I think reading Pandora Hearts is definitely a good way to predict how some things are going to go in Vanitas no Carte. There are some interesting parallels between characters in each series, Gil and Noé probably being the most well-known one, that have helped me to get a picture of their roles in VNC. MochiJun definitely has some repeating tropes that, frankly, make me a bit nervous having read and been devastated by Pandora Hearts in middle school, knowing where she likes to take these character archetypes… lol
What you said about drip feeding is very apt!

Watching this anime is one of the ones where I am almost bored in between being intrigued, like you said it decides to "drip feed" you the world and I'm very slow so I often forget details of the show that are vital to understanding it almost right away which means I spen 3/4 of my watching experience pressing rewind trying to understand what in the hell is going on. I love this show for the art style but I still think the pacing of the plot still has a long way to go before it can reach popularity
I also think the reason it might never get quite as popular is because it's not accomodable to first-time or casual watchers because it requires to watch over every minute of the show even if it's a comic relief moment you still gotta have full focus while watching or you'll miss vital points
Overall amazing animation and amazing plot (once you can finally understand it)

Aside from the fact that if you move to much you can nic a major artery.) and you know, they whole getting a bite taken out of you thing.

when you read the manga you realize the characters complexity and dynamics are complex as fuck besides the overlying argument that is yet to unfold leaves a lot of questions for a not so shonen manga
well mochizuki Jun has a habit of flipping tables.
referring to pandora hearts ending
I literally love pandora hearts so much. its my all time favorite manga and i urge you to read it whenever you get the chance :) mochizuki is such a great story teller its insane (the anime is trash dont even bother with it)
"I thought Pandora hearts was just a romance" HAHAHAHAHHA nice joke hahahaha
*laid down and cried*
5:08 RIP Phantom Seer God damn you had so much potential
I swear the anime is so beautiful I am both can’t look forward and dreading when Misha and vanitas past get animated lol, it’s such tradegy
Also this is funny and not related but vanitas tries to turn to carnitas on iPad spellcheck 😝😂
vanitas embrace perfectly the idea of "show, don't tell"
Excellent video👏👏
Thank you 👍
Now I'm super curious how you felt about season 2
I binged watched all episodes today, I haven’t slept as I could not stop watching… I now lack sleep and can’t sleep
Honestly speaking, Great video.
Thanks much!
If it’s by mochizuki then it’s gotta be good!
Twilight Years, Those were the darkest days of my life living with multiple sisters that wouldn't shut up about it.
vanitas is in my top 10 favorite anime i love all the characters and the voice acting is disturbing how good it is I hope the manga continues i was sad when i saw the manga has not gotten a new chapter for a while
YES TO EVERYTHING!!! Great analysis and super well explained I loved it!!
the only thing this story ever did wrong is how somehow Noe and Vanitas are not endgame lol but oh well
i love this kind of video, fully admired but explaining what make you admired it.....i hope there is s2 of vanitas
"using this sexual tensio- I mean, character tension"
3:34 ok you sold me, if i hear monogatari I must watch it now.
I was made aware of the show by randomly seeing a clip of balcony scene between Vanitas and Jeanne
Came for the hot vampire action, stayed for the story, animation, and the hot vampire action
