I can still remember when we found the "SONIC CRACKERS S32X" tiles in the earliest Chaotix proto. Good times, man.
So the Chaotix game on sega 32x was supposed to be about 2 buddies from Sonic 2 but now it becomes the Knuckle's mates now

Nice timing. I just searched for Sonic Crackers and found that you released a STTP video
Thanks to this experiment we later got Team Chaotix and I love theese guys. But it´s still strange for me why Knuckles Chaotix was never re-released. I was hoping that it will be a DLC in the Sonic Origins Plus uptade because in the main game, the music is in the bonus section.
The resources to port the title probably exceeds the interest in the subpar game. It’s one of those cost vs benefit scenarios.
@@autosaver I can understand this but if SO+ was made for OG´s like me, newcomers and there are also the Game Gear titles now in so it would make no difference for me to put Chaotix in as well. And Face the truth, the Game Gear and the X32 were sadly not that successful.

@@adamokon358 The GG titles are just roms packaged in an emulator with no updates. Knuckles Chaotix would have to be remade in the retro engine to match the rest of the package. They could do emulation I guess but I’d assume people would be upset.

It would be cool if sega made an actually good sequel to chaotix and let people play as sonic and tails

Found a random bug in Sonic Crackers - I was playing around with the 2P mode on the BlastEm emulator, and in World 1, I used "Debug Mode" to basically move the characters to another spot if anything bad happened to them. But then, suddenly, the music driver messed up a bit (it was playing an octave higher than intended). But that might be a problem with BlastEm. And no, I did not become a speedster. I simply patched the ROM beforehand (I have two copies of the ROM, the one which crashes after 1.5 seconds, and the patched copy), and I made no other alterations.
So that means that I did not change the ROM header in any way to fix the typos, I simply changed a very specific location in ROM, but that's still ROM hacking, and in this world, *that's no good!*
Great, I'll let the devs know so they can fix it.

@@inendlesspain4724 An alpha build of a piece of software would be further along in development than this, and would at least include a substantial portion of the final game's intended content, though not everything. This prototype is not that. It's basically just a proof-of-concept at this point, with only two stages. Hence, pre-alpha.

But there is a fan remake ot it, and actually works well :)
The prototype ROM will crash the system on a real Mega Drive console, but only if you don't skip the SEGA screen quick enough or delays at the title screen for too long. The cause of this crash is due to the sound driver (which is held on and controlled by the Z80 sub-processor) - if it isn't given a music track ID to process quick enough after being set up, the game will fail.

Hey RHS, may I ask you a question? Will you plan to test Super Mario 64 Sonic and Shadow Editions and their Plus versions on real hardware (BDIWORH suggestion)?
From what I recall, the first Sonic-related Mario 64 hack you tried on real hardware was "Sonic Adventure 64", and the hack failed to work.
As a bonus, you can also try a mini-hack called "Sonic in Mario's Mind".

And it was for one of the levels that actually crash so if you're able to restore its data it shouldn't crash and there's unused names for the levels as well
A retro game store manager had a Sonic cracker cartridge in my area but then sold it for $1500. This was about 10-12 years ago. Wonder what it would be worth today.

Regarding the first STTP, it did feel shorter compared to this one, I think it fulfilled its objective of getting straight to the point, but hey, I will always appreciate longer BDIWORH videos, I love them a lot and in fact every comment you make about them helps me to take certain things into account more for my projects
