Thank you for ALL the information you provide. I've been playing racing games since grand tourismo on the original Playstation. I moved to xbox when Forza came out and I have been hooked ever since. I had no idea sim racing was as big as it is until I came across one of your videos and I'm blown away. I can't afford to go to a pc but because of your reviews and recommendations I have decided to get a g920 for a start. Thanks again and keep up the good work.
Thank you for this video! My cousin and I both have Xboxs and have been trying to find solutions for setups on our carpeted flooring. Those folding chair setups look perfect!
Hey Will, love the vids, I can tell you from personal experience that moving from G920 to a T300rs on the pc improved my laptimes on all sims i play by 3-5 seconds and that was almost instantaneously! And that was having the g920 for 3 years and ive only had the T300 3 weeks now. Its just that theres a massive deadzone when going through say a chicane, as the gears in the g920 almost feel like they bind up a little.
Not going to lie, I had to rewatch this because I'm planning on upgrading my g920 and playseat challenge with my Xbox series x. I got lost in the slippery slope of cool gear, but this brought me back to earth.
The TMX/T150 is a belt & cog system. The T3PA pedals (available with Pro sets) can be used with higher end Thrustmaster wheels & are fully upgradable. Which means a chance to upgrade to a full belt wheel base. Plus the TMX/T150 Pro set is cheaper than the G series wheels (in the UK). For me, casuals not wanting to jump into the Fanatec eco system the Thurstmaster's Pro sets are better value & give the chance to do small upgrades.
@@boostedmedia Definitely Will 👍 I had a fairly high end Fanatec set up & had to sell it all (bad times). Just getting back into sim racing with a limited budget so spent lots of time weighing up the low end options. I loved my old G29 but there is no small step up available & felt Thrustmaster gave me those options. Think Logitech are missing a trick by not having a wheel base in the CSL/TX/T300 price range & better pedal set available.
I got my TMX Pro with t3pa pedals for about 200usd from christmas sales in norway and i am pretty satisfied with bang for buck. Recently bought the TH8A shifter (not on sale sadly) since i am hooked on racing with old cars in Assetto Corsa. About the T3PA pedals though, prepare to grease up the pedal holding bolts to avoid squeaking noise.
Great information. Personal advice if you haven’t got started yet but know you love the high end stuff and will have the space. Just save up for that from the start. I wanted to get the T300 599XX. But instead I got the T150 standard and playseat challenge. Only to buy that and a full size chair later. I’d be a lot closer to PC if I hadn’t spent all that extra money the first time around. If you enjoy it on a controller you will on a racing rig.
Logitech stuff is great for consoles ( and starting on pC) Only issue I had was I kept breaking pedals and shifters. When I upgraded to Fanatec I realised how much of an upgrade it was. Braking was the most noticeable with the load cell csl elite pedals.
Is there any chance they will update the drive hub to include compatibility with the next gen consoles (Series X and PS5). I plan on getting a Series X from the start but would like to get a PS5 down the road for GT7 and Ghosts of Tsushima. PS5 will also allow for VR in games like Dirt Rally.
Two days ago I finally completed my version of 'under $1000 budget setup' which included DD Wheel Stand, G29 wheel, pedals and shifter and PS4 ACC game all for AUD $969....
Will, Xbox compatible stuff has been confirmed to remain compatible next gen by Microsoft. Only Sony has not issued any statement regarding this for PS5
I'm on the market for a wheel for Xbox but I'll also going to use it on PC and I can't decide between the g920/3 and the tx/t300. I find them at almost the same price and I feel that thrustmaster with the interchangeable wheels and variety of pedals will give me more in the long term. Do I think that correctly or should I just get the slightly cheaper Logitech instead?
@@boostedmedia This is the latest info I have been able to find about the xbox console version; " Xbox One® and Xbox Series X: The compatibility can be upgraded with (optional) steering wheels like the ClubSport Steering Wheel Universal Hub for Xbox One or the CSL Elite Steering Wheel P1 for Xbox One. Without any Xbox One® licensed steering wheel attached, the wheel base is NOT compatible to Xbox One® or the next generation Xbox consoles."
Good morning amazing video I have a PlayStation five and I have intended one final tick podium wheel can you tell me because I have a little space can I mounting it on the table? Thank you my regards
As far as couch stands which would you recommend a beginner start with? I have the Logitech to go with my ps5 and trying to decide what stand I should use (unfortunately cockpits will not work due to space limitations)
ACC on XBoxOneX is really disappointing. Fanatec CSW2.5 wheel and pedals work only by tricking with handheld controller first in pit, then plugging in the wheelbase. Now I respect how smooth dirt rally series are on console. I decided to move to PC, at least I can harness the power of my 144hz monitor and can use the GPU to train my models in spare time.
Yeah I’ve been reading a lot of horror stories. It’s a real shame they’ve seemingly screwed up the launch so badly. Should have waited for next gen I guess.
simlab just cant keep up with the demand they are getting .they really need to expand their business i have to wait 8 weeks for a cockpit as they can only produce a certan amount per day. another great vid keep em coming
Will do you think we could use one of the console emulator things to use a current gen console wheel on a next gen console if it’s not supported? I’m going to the PC route instead of console but just interested
You don’t need to spend much for console sim racing, I have a g29 with a $10 card table and a kitchen chair, seats are better when you have the money but it can be scary looking at prices ($500 for a wheel then $300 - $500 for a seat) but I was only a few seconds down using a controller so as will said don’t think you need to spend a fortune
I was interested in Assetto Corsa but I bought Snowrunner on offer last week and I’m completely hooked. Went from Dirt Rally at light-speed to dirt trucking at snail-speed. I did not see this coming!
Do you think the GT Omega classic wheel stand is sturdy enough for the CSL Elite with load cell kit? I currently use a t150 w/ t3pa and it works great but my Fanatec stuff will be here tomorrow and I'm second guessing wether I'll have to buy a different wheel stand..
Mic boom a little annoying being there.... I have just swapped from console and wheel to pc and wheel cheap Logitech wheel expensive pc I do like the pc refresh’s and frame rate a lot better then console
Great and informative video as usual. Regarding Thrustmaster, you missed out on the TGT wheel and T-LCM loadcell pedals they now offer... David Perel, the Rinaldi Blancpain driver uses this combo in the current eSRO ACC competition & Also for iRacing. I'm a little sad to see you say this is the FIRST chance for console owners to play a so called real sim, David himself and many other real life race drivers will disagree with that comment regarding Gran Turismo Sport. All Sims have their strengths and weaknesses, you can see David Perel's opinion on this on my interview with him: th-cam.com/video/Eu_P2Vb5X9Y/w-d-xo.html You'll find it at 13:20 in the video. He also offers coaching along with other real race drivers and setups done by a real Ferrari GT3 engineer for ACC. See www.davidperel.net You'll also find most serious GT Sport players use cockpits. Just some feedback mate. Keep up the awesome work.
I wish the entire sim racing community especially those like yourself with a platform would all come together to make Sony and especially Microsoft open up support for extra dials and buttons on wheels as well as support for LED lights and displays. Customers have no power to make this happen but you guys do, I know most of you play on PC and probably don’t care but please. Can’t you speak to those concerned? Rally with Jimmy Broadbent, Dave Cam, William Marsh etc and get the message across. If I’m paying £400 for a fanatec wheel alone and £500 on a series X. I want to use all the features or at least most. PLEASE READ THIS.
The problem with your thinking is that money is the reason a person would not be playing on a pc. I’m currently selling a pc I had built for video editing that would make an excellent gaming pc. Why? Because I hate it. I hate windows 10. I’ve switched to Mac and I’m not hearing a lot of Mac compatibility with sim racing. I absolutely love racing on my PlayStation. I want to set up a sim racing set up and will never go pc unless it’s with a Mac. The are a lot of people out there who love gaming that aren’t necessarily computer savvy. This is why game consoles sell.
I feel the same, I hate windows 10, I have no urge to use a VR or fill my room with Tripple screens, how ever I did buy a Xbox with forza and asseto corsa which I enjoy and would like to set a simulator, people think I’m stupid for wanting to go spend 2k on fanatec products, did you end up setting up a sim on PlayStation? Any regrets?
I was excited to get into the Fanatec eco system but their customer support is so shockingly, embarrassingly bad, I will never buy another product by that company again if I can help it.
@Godzilla Rising its alot more than that. People have pre ordered months ago with fanatec taking their money(thousands of pounds in some cases) and still not received their goods while people are ordering last week and already received theirs.
Keep it cheap for a while. Get an old G25/27 and buy a DriveHub converter so that you can use that same wheel on all consoles. Ive had some of my best races using cheaper set ups and on console. PC elitism should be renamed PC wankerism. Go with what you can afford, better gear does not necessarily equate to better times. Good video, some good options in there.
NOTE: Xbox Series X and PS5 compatibility has now been confirmed for Fanatec's current PS4 and Xbox One compatible product range.
You think fanatec wil make a new wheel for the ps5 ?

I think this is the issue in terms of price with Thrustmaster - the TH8A is beautiful and much better than the Logitech equivalent but quite pricey.
