Patafoin must have loved the SNES soundtrack. They used a few of the songs in their Sonic Ware compilation. Also, is the next game Daze (days) Before (Bee 4) Christmas (tree)?
So, I wish you guys would bring this up: Since the tiles and sprites are the same, yet the x resolution is different, one of the two games will be either stretched or squashed from what the art was intended to be. Circles always give away what the "correct" game is, and in this case SNES has circles and Genesis has ovals where circles should be. So instead of chalking it up to "seeing more of the screen is better" every single time, maybe instead take into account which one of the two games displays the art as it was intended.
most SNES games suffer from the problem that you're talking about (it's one of the SNES worst issues, its flawed resolution, which is limited in size and has 8:7 shape instead of 4:3) AND this includes The Lost Vikings. Look from here: 4:12 what's supposed to be round or square is round or square on Mega Drive whereas it's all deformed with wrong aspect ratio on SNES. You can further check by watching raw screenshots... moreover, the Amiga or MS-DOS ports have the same assets as the Mega Drive version which further indicates how this game is meant to look. so yeah, good aspect ratio AND wider screen estate, only on Mega Drive ;)
Please do a video of Lost vikings 2 and about the lost vikings history, cameo appearances, what is the future of the franchise, etc It would be a lot of fun
The best part of the episode wasn't so much the comparison and contrast between the two games, as it was more amazingly the final scene when you encouraged those vikings to give jumping a try.
