@@berttnotbought804 ahh yeah the traction bar is obviously needed but the lower control arms are off an eg also or is that how the ek ones are over there? Can I run ek arms with the eg subframe?
Ahhhh I understand your question now. I’m not sure what versions outside the states came with stamped steel front lower control arms. However in the US market the EM1 did. You can swap the iron arms from a lower grade like I did. However you’ll need the matching lower shock forks as well. The stamped steel arms have a much wider center bushing in them. I have a decent explanation in this video th-cam.com/video/EG1tzrdSPf0/w-d-xo.html it’s one of my earlier vids so pardon the awkwardness. If you still have questions hit me up. I’m happy to help!
Yessir. We got the right ones in there for the low low price of an arm and a leg. 😂 Thank you for the heads up though, I didn’t know they were longer. Stay tuned. More to come on this after the champ car is back together.
Yes, Hybrid Racing makes a kit I know of. The K series is a much better platform for keeping accessories and having a turbo. The only thing I’m not sure of is hood clearance between it and the pulley but I haven’t even looked into it at all yet. This car hasn’t had power steering since it had the turbo B16, so I figured I’d try it with this boat anchor up front before I looked into whether or not it will work on this set up.
I can appreciate that direction. However between what I see happen to our champcars front suspension the best it’s getting is paint and new bushings lol all the stones that get kicked up on to the track tear up the wheel wells in these things.
Nice video bro, im trying to figure out how i’m gonna install this dc2 subframe with current b16a2 civic si motor, on the civic ek.. any tips? I know the rear motor mounts wont work..
I’m pretty certain that should be a direct swap?? But if not all I can imagine you’d need to change is the T bracket from the engine to the rear mount with an Integra bracket.
@gamex9288 no problem! Let me know if you have trouble. I will say if you are swapping an EM1 it is beneficial to have the DC control arms as you can bolt a traction bar to it and they also give you a touch more camber. Just an fyi
You don’t need to use the EG/DC SF but the EK subframe for some reason is a much larger BEAST and pushes the engine forward and puts your axles into an unfavorable angle. So the EG/DC subframe is more ideal.
I had a set of EK installed on it from the previous turbo build. The car came with stamped steel arms. The wheel hop from the B16 was aggressive so I opted to put in the EK arms so I could install the traction bar.
Yes. My EM1 came with stamped steel lower arms but to install a traction bar you need the cast iron lower arms from an EX or Integra. Mine are from a 98 Civic EX.
I believe the four bolts you can use a EG since the DC is literally same thing but the dc has a better steering rack setup
why do you have the eg traction bar and lca's on already? is that how eks come in america?
This car had a 690 horse B16 in it previously. They do not come equipped with this in any market.

Now that I read your comment again if you have an EG you should already have iron 2 piece arms?
@@berttnotbought804 no I have an ek
Nice score on thst subframe ,
Hopefully they have you the hardware to install the subframe , the bolts are
Longer on the teg
Ahhh see you remedied the problem

BreadenBertt yea I learned the hard way, bought a subframe from a private sale , and then had to go to the junkyard and get the bolts needed..
Can you run power steering still?

Would be a good time to replace all front suspension bushings and powder coat all of it. But thats just me lol

Did you have to swap the little bracket/bushings on the control arm ?
Unsure of what you’re referring to? Are you talking about the compliance bushing on the rear of the arm?
@@berttnotbought804 I haven't heard them called that but yeah I got them figured out. Eventually lol.
Rear bushing is called a compliance bushing. The forward bushing is called a B-point or B-pt. Glad you got it solved. Sorry I was late on the reply.

@@berttnotbought804 thanks for the reply back, im thinking the same, different motor mount and t bracket..
Does the eg/ek shares the same steering rack ?
Do you change your lower control arm on k swap or just the subframe? And also the bolts for subframe?
Subframe is the only change you need, but you’ll also need the bolts
@@berttnotbought804 thank you

Just to get some clarification, i can use the eg subframe with el lca and knuckles right?
I don’t know much about the EL. But if it shares control arms with the civic then yes. They are direct swap.
My bad meant EK. Fat fingered that
100% will direct swap
Do you really have to use an EG or DC2 Subframe for the EK...? I thought Hasport makes mounts for K motors that go on the EK chassis

Where can I find all bolts need for swapping EG subframe in Ek? Can't use ek bolts.
You need DC2 bolts. Best to get them from a junk yard. Acura wants about $100 for them all
@@berttnotbought804 downstar also selling for $100.. I was hoping to find cheaper deal than this
I get it man. That’s expensive. I just went and got the Honda fasteners in the end. They’re proven and I can be sure the quality is there.
nice
Wish I had a lift like that 😪
Atlas 2 post $2700 easy to install!
don’t need it tbh 🤔
Agreed. Most of the work on this car is done in the flat bay. I prefer it to be honest the lift gets in the way more times than not.
is it same subframe dc2 and eg
Yes, except I believe the DC2 subframes got the stiffener brace (the 1” diameter bar that runs side to side.
