My "well that escalated quickly" was when I was 16 and on summer vacation in CA visiting family. I was with my aunt, and 2 younger cousins (10 & 8) having a girls day. Now my aunt has always been a dare devil and has no regard for rules/laws, and is really bad at pressuring others into doing illegal and dangerous things.
She decides at around 8 o'clock when we're heading back to her place to go to a elementary school in a shady neighborhood and tells us that if we don't get out of the car and climb the school fence, run around the entire school, climb back over the fence again and get back in the car in under 5 minutes she was going to leave us. When we refused she starts telling us that if we didn't do it that we would stay in the shady neighborhood over night and sleep in the car. She told us that we would have to survive the druggies that would possible try to break into our vehicle and kidnap and sell us for drug money. This understandably scared the shit out of us when she began to giving the car a little gas and started the countdown. Terrified, me and my little cousins realized she was serious, so we jump out of the car while it was still moving because she wouldn't stop the vehicle and bolted for the school. At this point my 10 year old cousin is crying and asking me if we're really going to get left behind if we didn't do what she wanted, and honestly I had no idea. So I just told her to get her butt over the fence and back to the car as soon as possible. Unfortunately my youngest cousin couldn't get over the fence without help because she was wearing shitty plastic sandals and a dress which made everything so much harder. In the background our aunt is laughing hysterically at us struggling while slowly driving away, which makes my littlest cousin also start crying.
Once we were all over the fence the 10 year old carelessly bolts into the darkness only to trip, fall, and sprain her ankle on the uneven ground of the playground. She starts screaming and crying in pain. I am at this point as a 16 year old loosing my cool, I'm trying to get my crying and scared cousins under control without breaking down myself. I grabbed both of them and started quickly walking around the school in the dark while trying my best to reassure them that we weren't going to get left behind. I also ended up spraining my ankle when preventing my other cousin from falling (worse school yard ever built). We finally get back to the fence and our aunt is still screaming and laughing at us and the car is even farther down the road now. Which must have sent the 10 year old into flight mode because she climbed over the fence by herself despite her twisted ankle. But my 8 year old cousin at this point had emotionally shut down due to the stress and sat in a fetal position in the dirt, I could only get her to climb onto my back so we could get over the fence.
Finally back on the street and exhausted we start running after the car which conveniently is sped up whenever we try to get in. First one to get in is the 10 year old and then me, because the 8 year old was too scared to jump in herself because the car was f*ucking moving. My aunt decides that now would be a great time to f*ck with us even more and begins to actually drive away. I'm yelling and cursing at my aunt at this point out of sheer anger and frustration begging her to stop, but she doesn't let up on the gas. So I demanded my 10 year cousin to hold the door open and I hung myself out the car and told my 8 year old cousin to f*cking run and she does and I was able to grab her and yank her into the car safely before we picked us too much speed. We were all pretty beaten up from climbing the roughed up fences multiple times with scratches and dirtied clothes, my 8 year old cousin in particular had a lot of cuts on her legs.
On the way back to our aunt's place my cousins cried the whole way, while I just sat there trying to process what had just happened. I ended up crying about it later in bed once everyone was asleep. This whole experience left us pretty traumatized. And as soon as we got back to our parents we told them everything that had happened, and my aunt was rightfully banded from every taking us out again. I don't know why this happened to us or what made my aunt think it was a "cool" thing to do. And I'm not gonna try to understand, because she is just a crazy and manipulative women who as no regard for kid's physical/mental health and enjoys seeing kids loose their shit for her own amusement. I swear this experience took years off my life. I was forced into a position to be an protector and care taker and had to be the only reliable/sane person for my little cousins during that shit show of a joy ride. Even though this experience only lasted probably no more than 15 minutes tops, both my little cousins developed abandonment issues and couldn't cope well under stressful situations.

I want to preface this first by saying this was in a rural area of Texas and not a typical neighborhood in the suburbs so it's mildly less crazy.
So my dad was doing yard work and he was already in a particularly bad mood for whatever reason. Welp, he accidentally steps in a fire ant mound, gets bitten all over his leg, and that was apparently the final straw. He went into our barn, came out with a can of WD-40 or some other kind of aerosol and a lighter, and he burned that mound until there was a 3 foot perimeter of pure black surrounding the former mound. My mom got pissed at him for scorching the yard but by then I think he was far beyond the point of giving a crap anymore. So then we had a nice little black patch for about a few months and a neat story behind it, so that was cool I guess.

MANY years ago (this is important) when I was doing my general surgery residency, I was the resident in charge of the ER at our teaching hospital. The EKG machines in those days were the kind that cranked out reams of paper tape with the scriggly lines on it, most of which ended up as a pile on the floor (this is important, too). One night an ambulance comes screaming in and the EMTs present us with a guy with severe chest pain indicating a possible heart attack. He gets hooked up to oxygen and the EKG while the room fills up with interns and residents excited to take part in the drama. As the EKG machine does its thing, the guy's rhythm suddenly changes from V-tach to V-fib and he passes out--much excitement ensues, he's entubated, CPR is started and the defibrillator is put on "charge" and brought quickly up to its full 300 Joules. Uh-oh, there's no electrode gel--somebody forgot to replace the empty tube after the last cardiac arrest. Thinking quickly--but not too brightly--an intern grabs a double handful of alcohol sponges (we kept them soaking in big metal canisters in those days--none of those sissy tear open individual sponges for us, by damn) and slaps them on the guy's chest (it's a liquid, right, and therefore is an electrical conductor, right?), then grabs the defib paddles and before anyone can move or say "Uhh..perhaps that's not a great idea", he hits the discharge button. ZAP/FOOMP!! The two piles of alcohol sponges on the guy's chest burst into blue flame. The same intern, again thinking quickly but just as stupidly, knocks them off the guy's chest--straight onto the growing pile of EKG tape. WHOOSH! Now yellow flame joins the blue. Much hilarity ensues, fire extinguishers are produced and both the pile on the floor and the guy's chest are extinguished. The good news is the guy survives our dual attempt to kill him and eventually wakes up. The bad news is trying to explain to him why he's in the burn ward and what the f*** happened to his chest. Good times.

I was 19 years old in the hospital on bed rest while pregnant and suddenly a bleeding man came into my room and shut the door. He was holding a scalpel in one hand and gripping his abdomen with the other. He sat on my visitor chair and just stared at me. I was terrified but talked calmly to him and finally, after what seemed like a week but was actually about an hour, I managed to talk him into giving himself up. Turns out the cops had dropped him off in the ER and he had grabbed the scalpel and made his way up stairs to my room. The policy for treating prisoners was changed after that. I don't know what happened him after that.

I was on the upper part of a hill, and he was on the lower part. There were walking paths near by. He had his head resting against my stomach, and was talking to the baby.
Some old bat called the cops saying he was giving me oral sex. The cops threatened us, and my man just gave up and they gave us a warning. Told my mom and she called the cops to scream at their supervisor.
The most hilarious part of this, has to be the fact that this was one of the few times where we didn’t fool around at said park.
After that incident, we didn’t go to that park again. 😂

Long story, but worth it. Back in the day when a TV had and antenna and wire running from the antenna to the TV. My brother and I were arguing over who got to sit in Dad's recliner which was directly in front of the TV. It also just so happened that there was a MASSIVE thunderstorm outside. My older larger brother finally got upset enough to shove me to the floor. At that exact moment a lightning bolt hits the antenna and surges out the entire house, we hear an explosion of glass. When the lights come back on there's a steak knife sized piece of glass an inch deep in the recliner exactly where I was standing a second ago. My brother saved my life by being a bully, LOL.

That's your first mistake. CPS workers need either permission or a warrant. Never give permission to any government agent for a search of any kind if you don't have to. Of course, if you're flying, TSA will search you. But CPS has to have a warrant to come into your home without permission. I know of instances where even the CPS worker has not known this.

    • @MonadRimsire

@@MonadRimsire you can be polite without allowing them in your house. Also, if they have permission to enter, they don't need be looking for a particular thing or person. A warrant only gives them the legal authority to search areas where the thing or person they are searching for could possibly be. For example, if the warrant says they're looking for a shotgun, they don't get to open your cutlery drawer. Once you allow them into your home, those requirements are gone.
I agree you should be polite. But you can be polite on your front step.
As to why you wouldn't let them in if you didn't have something to hide, honestly, because you don't have to allow that. Also, it is incredibly easy for someone who sees abuse/neglect cases on a daily basis to interpret something innocent in an incriminating manner.
If government agents (any agent of any department or agency) don't need your permission or consent, they won't ask for it.

Gonna say not worth it on that one although I totally understand the point/concern with unknowingly giving consent to law enforcement and surrendering a superior position.. Then again, why is law enforcement trying to leverage consent from you anyway?...

    • @impishrebel5969
      @impishrebel5969 4 ปีที่แล้ว +17

@@sumo-ninja Not inviting them in isn't being "not cooperative", there are procedures for them to follow and it isn't being "not cooperative" to expect them to follow their own rules. That whole situation could have been done outside the home. People have rights including the right to privacy, which you don't have to give up without a warrant where reasonable proof has been already provided there is something illegal going on. People saying what you are saying, that it isn't cooperative, are why those protections (yes, protections) and rights are getting ignored more and more these days and has the chilling effect of slowly changing reasonable expectations of privacy. The whole "nothing to hide" argument is fallacious, implying that expecting and demanding your rights be respected is, in itself, incriminating. Always be skeptical and suspicious of authority and make sure they are following their own procedures.

I turned around and my brother and cousin just stopped running and looked at me. I was like "Yeah, I'm fine." the lady glanced back at them and was like "Are you sure?" and I confirmed my safety. So I was living in a five story dormitory for University. And before I preface it, the windows had no screen at all, apparently due to fire code making screens forbidden or something. So I was sleeping one Sunday morning, on what was a February IIRC, then at 6 AM, I heard a loud pounding at the door, so I woke up but didn't "wake" up. Then my door was unlocked by a master keyboard. The officer kind of yelled if I was in the room. I kinda mumbled back I was in the room, he apologized and went to the neighbor. I didn't think much of it at the time, but then I recieved "hey, are you okay?" texts. As I came to learn later, a next door neighbor of mine committed suicide by jumping out the five story window. So technically it escalated immediately and only got worse once all the pieces came together.

Apparently my shirt had rubbed my neck in some weird way, triggering my dermatographia, and someone had seen it and thought I was being choked before school. 26:40 I heard all this with a straight face until the cop checked the records and then said "Eric, what am I going to do with you?" I bursted out laughing. It's not even that funny

I'm a totally blind, small female. (Important to the story) So I'm taking an Uber to my job at a law enforcement agency one morning. The driver is giving me the creeps. She's talking about how her ex husband almost killed her by smashing her face into a mirror while she was getting out of the shower and how one son is a meth addict and the other's in prison, yada yada. I at this point covertly text my boss being like "Sir, um, please make sure this lady drops me off at the right location because holy freaking heck". Location shared, obviously. I expect him to just keep an eye out and all that. So I get dropped off and it's at the wrong building. I have zero clue where I am and am like "Well I guess I should start looking for a door or something." Moments later I hear the sound of several guns being cocked. Then I hear someone being like, "Ma'am, are you ?" Me: "Um..." Stranger: "We're part of the highway patrol. Chief sent us to escort you back." Me: "UUHHHHHH..." Stranger: "Ma'am, are you all right?" Me: "Um... um... can you uh... verify your identity?" Stranger: "What?" Me: "Verify. Your. Freaking. Identity. Please." Stranger: "Uh, sure." *calls phone* "Sir, we have your intern. Can you please verify that you sent us to get her?" Me: "What the actual frick?" Boss: "Hey. Their names are , and they're going to take you back to the office. You're across the campus. Please do not injure them unnecessarily." Me: "Sir. They have firearms. What the frick" Boss: "Well, yes." Me: "O... okay, sir. I'll uh... go with them I guess." Boss: "Excellent. I'll see you in ten." When I got back to the office my coworker was like, "What the frick did you do?" Me: "What?" Coworker: "What the actual frick did you do that had you being escorted in here by three firearms wielding officers?"

I had something happen to me at 08:00ish too! When I was in middle school, we didn’t have to make a poem but we compared a backpack full of rocks. Big misunderstanding that made me the ‘quiet kid’ for the next 2 years. Excluding the ‘owns a gun’ and ‘misunderstood’ parts.

I was a janitor for several doctor’s offices. One late night I my partner and I were pushing out the big trash bin. I’m out the door but my partner was on the other side (inside) I looked over and two cops had guns pointed at me yelling “FREEZE!” I’m speechless and trying to freeze but my partner didn’t hear and kept pushing. 😳 finally I found my voice and we were able to convince the cops we were taking out the trash and not stealing drugs. I can still recall the feeling of guns pointed at me 😬

so im on a hockey team, and my family is really close with two other families also on my team. we hang out a lot outside of the rink, we usually get together at least once a week outside of hockey. well my team went to denver for a tournament a few months ago, and then suddenly after our families stop hanging out. i didnt think much of it at first because my whole team got sick after the tournament and had to quarantine for two weeks, and then by the time we were out of quarantine school was basically done for all of us and people were going on vacation and shit and we didnt have as much hockey. well fast forward to last friday, my parents tell me and my brother theyre getting divorced. kinda saw it coming, things have been particularly tense with them for a long time especially after denver. well lo and behold, about an hour ago i got a text from one of my hockey friends (we will call them s) who we always hung out with. (keep in mind that there are three families, the adults of the group we will call my mom my dad mrs. s mr. s mrs. p and mr p.) apparently, my mom and mr. s had been cheating on my dad and mrs. s for who knows how long, and then while we were in denver (at the fucking national championship i may add) on the first night we were there, my dad and mrs. s and mr p and mrs. p find out about it. keep in mind that all of us were sharing a van together because we had to fly to get there and we wanted to save money by renting just one big car. well the next morning, mrs s. flies back home because of an "emergency at work," and my dad decides to go "spend more time with my cousin because i never get to see him" (which is indeed true), completely unbeknownst to all of us what was actually going on, which definitely was a good thing because we would not have been able to focus on hockey had we known. but basically, my parents are getting divorced, s's parents are getting divorced, p's are just staying out of it, s's mom is not allowing her at my moms house and her dad and my dad who were like best friends wont even talk to each other anymore, p's parents are just trying to stay out of this whole mess and i dont blame them but really it sucks for me and s and p because we never get to hang out anymore because our parents went and did dumb shit that tore them all apart and caused them to hate each other. moral of the story is, parents, dont do dumb shit like this because it and and will tear apart not only your relationship with your spouse and your side hustles relationship with their spouse, but it will also tear your kids away from their best friends. please for the love of god think before you do.

I was in an anti-military romance scammers Facebook group and someone that I considered to be a close friend and I got to talking about "cheating' and being made to feel horrible. All of a sudden a Karen started up a shitstorm of crap against us. Calling us every horrible name you could have thought of. My friend had left the group and I was just livid. I shouted at her that "you don't get to say what goes on in here."
Next thing I know Karen begins reporting me and my friend to the board administrators and I, in turn, counter her reports with reports of my own.
The final straw for me was when Karen started calling me a "slut" then that.was.that and we both got a verbal warning from one of the administrators saying that if we didn't stop swearing that we would both be removed from the group.
I said that I was sorry but I don't take too well to someone being outwardly hostile towards me and creating a hostile environment. The next thing I know the Karen was removed from the group which made me happy because I was absolutely fuming after that.
The administrator told me not to let anything like that escalate like that again and to report stuff like that to keep the peace.

What’s an “anti-military romance scammers” group? Does it have to do with the awful people cheating on or using military partners over-seas or something like that? Cheaters are scammers after all. Or is it the “I met a nice boy, but he needs money” type of scam. Both break hearts. It was rude of that Karen to call you a slut when you’re actively against those types of things.

I have to agree but try to look st the flip side, if someone just robbed a store or something I'd hope the cops are on edge and mistakes happen. I wonder if there is s real solution to this issue because I'm sure this has led to many people being scarred. I don't imagine life is quite the same after getting s gun pulled on you.

I was a junior and got pulled over for speeding in front of the high school. One of my busy body teachers pulls over and walks over to tell the cop(parents friend) about me skipping school. He tells her to get back in her car and leave or he will arrest her and gave me a warning. He only pulled me over because another cop was also parked there and he wanted to make sure I didn't get a ticket. The look on her face was priceless !

My “well that escalated quickly story” happened during middle school I believe. I was heading home on my bus just staring out the window (I think I was really worn out that day. Either that or I was just bored.) when all of a sudden a fight broke out on the bus between 2 girls that I knew. The bus driver couldn’t stop them so I think she called the cops. Either them or a student idk. When the cops came they pulled the 2 girls off the bus and then they yelled at everybody else because they were screaming and cheering and filming the fight. After that we drove off without them and the 2 girls got put in juvie. It seemed to work because one of the girls was a lot nicer after that. Don’t know what happened to the other girl. What I always found so funny about that fight though was that you had the 2 girls fighting, the students either running away from them or jumping around the bus filming and cheering them on, you had the bus driver freaking out, and then you had me. I literally didn’t move a muscle. I wasn’t even scared or anything I just didn’t feel anything. Maybe I was just a depressed middle schooler back then idk. So when the fight happened I just casually looked over at the fight and then I lazily just looked out the window. I was the only student that wasn’t screaming or shouting or filming. The only time I got scared was when a student jumped into my seat when they were running away from the fight. Even when the cops were yelling at the other students I didn’t move a muscle. The only other time I showed any movement was when I looked at the bus camera and just slowly shook my head. So that was interesting.
This happened in Stafford, Virginia by the way. I also forgot to mention we were on the main road when this happened.

Meanwhile I sat in a corner making sure no punches were thrown at my younger sister since almost everyone in the damn school got involved

Interesting how many of these amounted to cops doing shady things.
I like the one where half a dozen squad cars responded to two teenagers who MIGHT have been TALKING about shooting a cop.
They'll jump out of their asses to protect themselves, then will arrest you if you shoot the bath salt zombie breaking down your front door.
