That's cool, can I make a concrete sill in situ using the block work and a wooden frame as mould. It's a huge sill of 8'6"by 18" in depth so can't lift one
There will be virtually no water ingress through that cill. Any that does will either be absorbed by the brickwork or simply fall to the next tray above a window, door etc or to the tray at dpc level if there is one in place. If not simply to the bottom of the cavity below dpc. It certainly will not penetrate the inside skin
@@Oncewasdonka I assume it's just to protect the stone from any falling "muck" from the lifts above. We build our damp protection in on top of the shoulder of the stone. But I'm a southerner and we all do it different!
@@stuartjones1982 That damp wasn't getting turned back over on to top of cill for protection,it was acting like a tray in the cavity, without ends turned up, so its actually doing fuck all{ not that its needed there anyway}, the retards in offices think of these things but actually haven't got a clue in the real world. Usually NHBC idiots thinking of new things.
That's the way we were taught mate, bed the seats only, if there's any settlement of the building during construction a full bedded cill will crack....🤔
Can it be done where you keep the original windows and install the sandstone window sills and then reinstall the original windows? Mine are already upto date double glazed
No weeps under the stone?
Good tips with the damp, jonnies, brick wedges stop em rolling forward.

How beautiful the excellent work professionals, greetings from san felipe chile
Hi so if the water penetrates the cill to the back what stops it running down the end into the cavity. Theres no weep holes? Cheers

@@stuartjones1982 I agree so why the damp.

@@stuartjones1982 yes it would help protect it. Thanks

So wrong, cills are never fully bedded only on the stools or they crack, check manufacturers spec .

So true
AHH makes sense about the settlement part

Windows can stay in, just install sills
@@Changy_C so you wouldn’t need to remove the windows you could work round them?
@@premsworldfamily6616 exactly
How much you get for them mate
Cheers lads
What's the packings for?,
Front heavy because of the overhang, stops them tipping forward
@@Changy_C Give you a tip, allways have some little wooden wedges in u bucket/box for when u put cills on.
You made the opening to big?
No why
@@Changy_C just wondering why is there a gap at the right hand side of the sill?
Not hating but they look like pre-cast, not stone.
Yeah, the average person watching doesn’t know what pre cast is
Dpc should be wrapped up either side to stop damp with weeps either side of the cill mate
@@brickblocksolutions1660 yr dead right dpc should be longer then the Cill and folded at the end why cut it level with the end of the cill?
