Hi stu, I always got told you weren't supposed to fully bed these types of stone cills, small bed each corner then just point underneath to allow for shrinkage.if I'm honest I always end up putting a solid bed anyway haha! Keep up the good work
Another top vid Stu, you are a good role model for young brickies..........BUT...stick a pair of glasses on and a mask when using the saw mate. I'm by no way preaching H&S, I lost the use of one of my eyes and it's a game changer. Keep the vids coming your a down to earth lad 👍
Can it be done where you keep the original windows and install the sandstone window sills and then reinstall the original windows? Mine are already upto date double glazed
Nice video. I am going to do a similar thing on my brick porch. Do you have any thoughts on caulking the seam between the two sills? I have seen this recommended in some places.
Hi Stu, Can you or your Dad, tell me, if I could use a granite window sill (had from old shed) to sit a patio door frame on? (The sizes are good etc) I am just not sure if it should be done or not as the sill is for a window. Any advice from KC on this would be greatly appreciated. PS the window sill is 140mm high by 250mm wide. The shed dimensions are 100,100,102 internal-wall/cavity/external-wall.
Beautiful work as always 👍. I have got an interview tomorrow for an apprenticeship in bricklaying stu. Could you recommend me any tips? Your videos and workmanship has inspired me, you deserve all the best. Cheers 👍
Nice job! Obviously the previous builders had no pride in their work and weren't above ripping off their customers.Where was building control in all of this?
No dpc on the sill mate ?
Just curious but is there a reason why there's no dpc under the cill? I started blocklaying a few months ago and we always put dpc in with cills.
Always enjoy it when you get to work with KC, another cracking production, well done Fella 🛠
thanks for watching mate we appreciate it
That's exactly how our bay window was installed Stu, held in place by 3 brads & The Paint!
No DPC? That would be criminal in Ireland.
New window fitted, you never know as you may be installing a new front door soon after that top notch job!
I've always loved those stone cills. Those and the new window totally changed the look of the house. Loving the vids mate. All the best.
thanks john mate glad to have you part of the channel

Great job, but Wow. Half that inner block wall was missing and just covered with plasterboard.
How much would something like this cost? Plus did they do the rear of the house also or just the front?
Lime mortar with limestone or just portland mortar?

How much did that cost the customer ?
You should always hide tiny interesting things in the cracks before you seal, so the next guy in 100 years gets a chuckle
What about the inside?
Big big big request stu , fairly new to the game .would like to work a couple of shifts wiv ya mate
👍
There's just one thing I can't quite get is why would anyone want to install regular windows when they can go for bay-shaped ones :)
The customer wanted a change. Remember not everyone likes what you like
That's fair enough

Obviously the previous builders had no pride in their work and weren't above ripping off their customers.Where was building control in all of this?
looks worse then ever its just plain and boring looking wow a sandstone cill big woop, bay windows are ten times better looking.
Isn't it spelled "sill" rather than "cill?"
