Just now I realized that Quinn got the "user agreement broken" notification twice when she acts to avoid her death, first by cancelling her trip, and second, by trying to report the would-be rapist. He wasn't going to stop after that kiss
I dont think she stopped his advances because of knowledge of her time of death. It’s implied that these events were destined, only knowledge of their time of death is what makes them avoid decisions that would lead to their intended death. But in that scene, she was only trying not to get taken advantage of.
Also that scene was way off the intended time of death.

One question I have though: By downloading the app, is the demon then randomly assigning and deciding the point at which people die? Or, is the date and time already set in stone and the demon is just merely providing people the actual time?
So basically is the demon causing their death, or simply providing an accurate time, only following up if they try to change it?
I'd imagine it's a mix of both, basically saying you give some life to know when it ends.
When they search up their names to change their dates her sister comes up. Don't know if she has checked hers but if not then it seems already determined (despite the strange number of deaths among a small number of related people)
their death date and time is set in stone without even downloading the app. but the people who downloaded the app, and avoided their death because they knew exactly when they were supposed to die (like the girl in the beginning didn't get into the car with the drunk driver after realizing it lined up with when she was supposed to die, same with quinn cancelling her cemetery plans) then they broke the agreement and the demon comes for them so that they still die at that exact time, even if it's not how they were originally supposed to die.
@Xwiri So basically, it seems the majority of the responses are saying:
The app gives the user their already determined date/time of death. When they will die is already etched in stone, the app is merely telling you “hey this is when you die, which is exactly x amount of time.”
When the user attempts to avoid their impending death, the demon then informs them “hey, I see you avoided the events that would have lead to your death, that’s cheating.” The Demon will then come for the person personally and kill the person at the exact same time they were originally going to die. Only this time, it is in a different way by the demons hands.
My question: I was basically wondering if when you download the app, whatever date and time you were originally supposed to die on… gets thrown out the window. So basically, your death date is blank. The demon would then (randomly I suppose) give you a new death date, let’s just say you download and open the app and the demon decides “screw it, let’s kill them in 3 hours”. Essentially, the demon has now given you a new death date. Then from there, if you skip/avoid it, it hunts you down and kills you.

The sign on the floor to keep the demon out was a perfect plan after they proved that it works and ditching it afterwards was a huge mistake. It was the only certain thing that could save them and that they knew worked for the situation. All they had to do was not fall for stupid illusions no matter how tempting they might be. They could tape themselves to the floor or a chair or something to stop themselves from leaving it.
I dont even understand why it was tempting… they knew 100% fact it was the demon
The demon could have killed them with a ranged attack, so I don't think it's completely foolproof.

I like to imagine there's one guy who downloaded the app and figures that he can't die before his appointed time, so he constantly puts himself in danger and drives Ozhin absolutely crazy.
Ties a boulder to his legs and tosses it off a bridge? Ozhin snaps the rope before it goes taut.
Points a gun at his head? Ozhin jams it.
Tosses a box of knives into the air over his head? Ozhin goes "Oh come on!" and deflects them.

Honestly I think it would have been more likely that she would freeze to death when walking in the night because if she had 3 hours left to live and would have died if she took a ride from her boyfriend the countdown would still go to zero killing her since the method isn’t specified that would make more sense than a demon connected to the app

@@ackrat704 That would go against the whole premise/hook/originality(?) of the movie though. Think of it as Final Destination, but it’s not the the order, its the exact timing that can’t be broken. The demon breaking her neck is also like final destination, by making it look like either an accident or suicide to an outside observer.
I thought the death of the girl @ 17:17 - 17:20 was wrong until I noticed exactly when the time ran out she took her last breath. Incredible detail

Y'know, the characters having very little time left makes sense for this kind of a film, but it'd actually be kind of interesting to have the opposite- someone who checks the app and finds they'll live for some absurd amount of time, like 300 years or something, and following them going mad in a bizarre deathless state for centuries.

That sounds like a Junji Ito story. The one where a guy goes to sleep and his dreams increases in length, first they feel like they last days and then years, then decades. It goes to the point where he's lived a whole life spanning a thousand years with his wife only to wake up again. You should check it out its super bizarre and disturbing and not that long.

There's a good film about an immortal man called The Man From Earth but its actually frustrating because it examines what a real immortal would be like. He doesn't know why he's immortal, he just has a best guess. People ask him questions about like Napoleon but he doesn't know because he wasn't in France at that time.
As long as you don't age, I imagine that's how extended lifespans would go for most people. They'd just get on with stuff and forget lots of things.

No? From what I understood, the app tells you when you are going to die and if you try to avoid the situation where you could have died, that's when the demon will haunt you. But they all were meant to die right there anyway (see the first girl for example)

I like how much James has evolved over the years of this channel, before he just described the movie and kills and there was no emotion. And now he goes in depth with the movies and gives his own personal review of the movie and doesn’t hold back and it’s amazing. He gave this unique channel a better experience with his personality and I would like to thank him for making his channel so good over the years.
