Hi Frank, just want to say thank you for the awesome advice you provide. Recently I’ve been traveling out of town for work and stay out 4 to 5 days. I am free feeding 100% barley while I’m away and 15% once a day the days I’m home… and let me tell you I’ve NEVER seen or feel my birds this great. I truly appreciate what you’ve done for us.
Hi Frank, Russell Ruybal here, great to see you sharing your knowledge. It starts with a solid foundation, I flew in the Foothills Racing Pigeon Club, in Colorado. In my last year flying birds I won every race. I bred some champ's from some breeders I got from you at The Highlander one loft race. I crossed them with my Jan Aarden blood. I no longer have birds, it is great to see you doing what you love. In the sport, Russell Ruybal
Hi Russell, Thank you for this. I am having fun with these videos. Sad you know longer have pigeons but I see you stay involved. Your Old Friend, Frank
Hi Frank. Lee Feliciano here. I wish i knew ahead of time the time of your life stream. Great information. Thanks for.sharing your. Knowledge. Most fanciers are not willing to share their knowledge with us newbies.
Hi frank very useful info my birds will not lift fly for more than 15 min they come home from races ok but always 10 min behind the winner they get trained. And fed with top food so frustrating Alan London Essex England
I can guarantee you are feeding the pigeons feed that is too rich in protein and too much feed. Your pigeons are way too heavy. All these fancy mixes are beautiful and great for raising babies but terrible for racing. Watch this series of videos and you will go to the next level and start winning big. th-cam.com/play/PLfjpm1Kc9E0UkXcdnfTrnV_VKTkfNozbt.html
Lol this made me laugh 😂 When I was in the Army. I had a battle buddy from Boston,MA. Growing up in the south. Me and him had some “what the hell did you say” moments lol. 😅
I listened to this while training my birds this morning. Another great video. As a runner, I've always been taught that you should go for an short and easy run the day after a long race (half or full marathon). I've always thought that would be the same for our warriors of the sky and let them loft fly the day after a race. What is your thoughts on this and why would our birds be different in this regard? Thanks
Hi James, Hard to compare us to pigeons. With experience I have been able to have only two short flights in two weeks between long distance races and the pigeons dominate. Maybe because the bird must fly within the loft from the perch to the flight pen to the feeder to the perch gives the wings enough movement. They are making short flights constantly inside the loft. Maybe this offers some benefit during rest.
I only use the brewers yeast during the race season. I put the oil on the feed and add the yeast until the grain will not hold anymore yeast. You could do it weekly year round if you want but it is not necessary.
Barley must be in the hull. Any good pigeon grain dealer should sell it. Do not buy from breweries. They get the barley ready for beer production and then the sugar content goes up.

Can you explain the cutting and pulling flights thing , in detail . Never heard of this , have no idea what it does . Why do it ? Does it delay dropping of flights , when should it be done ? ....etc
I will do a video just on cutting and pulling flights. Also how to delay the dropping of the flight. At the end of the season our birds are usually molting the 9th and 10th flight. It is better to cut off the tip off the 9th and 10th flight in the spring. Pull the 9th flight two weeks after cutting the tip and when the flight is 3/4 grown in pull the 10th flight. When the big races arrive later in the season the birds will not be molting these important power flights. You must be very careful not to put pressure on the quill at the base of the flight or the flight will not grow back correctly.
I mix these two feeds together for the fat seeds. www.versele-laga.com/en/de/plusicplus/products/plusic-energy www.versele-laga.com/en/de/colombine/products/colombine-sneakymixture
Usually I like to train or race on Saturday and then maybe Tuesday and Thursday. I hope to fly one 60 mile truck training with the group and another 35 mile toss on my own so they get about three flights per week. I keep the body weight right by feeding correctly with the depurative once a day.
De Rauw Sablon is a family of pigeons. I have not seen a solid white bird become a champion but there have been many excellent white breeders and racers. There are so few whites compared to blues and checkers so odds might be about the same for a white champion or a blue champion.
@@FrankMcLaughlinPigeons I do believe whites are important when it comes to breeding probably to help break up the hindering genetics especially with inbreeds ...I think the old timers learned that and why i see more bars and checks with specks of white on them
That is tough to say. My best bloodlines for the One Loft Races have been the De Rauw Sablon pigeons onto my other lines. Same with my personal racing, many have Sablon crossed with my other top pigeons.
Jan Aarden has been gone a long time but there are some pigeons bred down from the Jan Aarden birds that are still good very. Pure or straight Jan Aarden that are successful would be nearly impossible to find.
Hi Frank! I just finished rewatching this for the 10th time lol How about a session focused on breeding questions? I think that would be a lot of fun!
Great idea to to specific Ask Frank Live Streams.

Good material. Thanks, Frank.

One question, what is
Baaley 😆
I hear my accent when I watch back my videos. I must work on that. lol

Barley
I use popcorn
Many use Popcorn. I personally do not like popcorn. Just too hard and does not absorb water easily.

good day sir do you use brewer yeast all year round? Or just when you are going to race? And how often?
I only use the brewers yeast during the race season. I put the oil on the feed and add the yeast until the grain will not hold anymore yeast. You could do it weekly year round if you want but it is not necessary.
Thank you sir. I can't thank you enough for the knowledge we are learning. I'll just watch your videos with no skip ads. Have a nice day.
No sure about no skip ads. Maybe there is something I can do.
Hi Frank, is it possible to transfer a pigeon that has already joined to a celibacy pigeon group?
Yes you can move the pigeons to celibate after being mated. I let my birds mate after the race season and then race celibate the following year.
Frank, when you add barley, must it be hulled? Malt? Or the least expensive one with the hull on?
Thanks, your expertise is much appreciated
Barley must be in the hull. Any good pigeon grain dealer should sell it. Do not buy from breweries. They get the barley ready for beer production and then the sugar content goes up.
Could you please do a video on what to look for in the ideal pigeon....eg wing and bone structure
I will try to put this together soon.
Hi Frank - how much and how often red cell horse supplement do you give your pigeons? Thanks
I give all the birds only once a week. 1 teaspoon to the gallon
Hi Frank I live in Essex my birds will not loft fly no matter what I do

Frank is it ok to feed pigeons once a day when they are moulting
Yes, I feed once a day all they want when they are molting. Just give plenty of feed at the one feeding. Keep your work load down.

@@FrankMcLaughlinPigeons Thank you .
Hi sir frank, Its hard to find barley In mu country. Can I instead use paddy rice basically its rice with husk on
Paddy Rice is a perfect substitute for Barley. Go for it.
@@FrankMcLaughlinPigeons Alright thankyou sir!
And redcell do you use it all year round? Or just when racing ang training?
Excellent question. I use the Red Cell one day a week year round.
@@FrankMcLaughlinPigeons thank you sir. Hoping for better results
what do you prefer heavy strong bones vs flexible light bones?
I like light but still strong and flexible bones. Heavy thick bones are not best for flying.
What do you use for worms
Here is how I worm the birds. Works super. th-cam.com/video/UFPEhcS37CE/w-d-xo.html

Hi Frank. Do you apply the same feeding and training system for youngbird racing?
Yes I apply the same feeding methods to the young birds. I start getting serious with the feeding about a week before the first race.
