I've been doing calf stretches for past week but noticed my plantar fasciitis hadn't improved. Then last night I remembered I had a TENS machine and did about an hour session of intense electrical pulses. Today I woke up and were surprised that it was gone miraculously! I was shocked (no pun intended) at how much a difference it made. I also put tissues between my big toes to seperate them whilst I walk to dissipate the impact on my foot and avoid over pronation which seems to be the root cause of plantar fasciitis.

My left foot! It's healed now, but it was a 20 month ordeal. You are so right about the stretching, before it gets worse. You are so right about arch support at all times, even those short bathroom runs. I had to have a stem cell injection finally. It worked well, but I am very very careful! Don't take foot pain for granted!

Massege my calf muscle first, then scraped it with gua sha board down an up. After 6 week i was 80% better. Now after 8 week 90% better. Hoping i are healed soon.

    • @curiosityintrigue
      @curiosityintrigue 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

@@PoeLemic Yes, after doing what they said and being very careful I slowly experienced progress. It took about a month before it completely healed and it no longer hurt. Remember when you are off your feet to check and see if the toes on your foot with the issue are curling forward and make a point to constantly bring your toes back normal or slightly the other direction. Paying attention and doing that is when I really started to notice improvement. After it was healed I purchased low profile shoes (water shoes) which helped rebuild the muscles in my foot to support the arch. And now when I remember to do the incline stretch prior to going on a long walk I have no issues. Here's a link to their other video that includes the incline stretch. th-cam.com/video/_um7f9cYZRM/w-d-xo.html. Months later I stopped doing the stretches and one day when I was on a dog walk I felt a slight sting in my foot. I knew exactly what it was and I walked home very carefully. Then I resumed those incline stretches again before any more dog walks. I mostly don't have anymore issues. Every once in a while though, I feel that sting in my foot again, but I do walk a lot with my dog, so I'm sure that is part of it.

@@curiosityintrigue Dave, wow, thanks for the good writeup. I do appreciate you giving me some ideas. Yeah, over the weekend, my God, did it hurt. I did nothing different that day, but I just got up in morning to use restroom. And, suddenly, had so much pain, which I've described as stepping on a landmine. No joke. I didn't have a clue what was wrong, even went to Urgent Care to figure it out. So, thanks for letting me know that there is hope. I'm doing foot massages, and I don't feel the crunchiness that some people who've had it longer say. And, I also got some anti-inflammatories that they gave me for 10 days. So, I think it'll get better. And, kindof nice that my 2nd Covid shot is right about now, so I'll be down for a few days recovering. Then, it won't be pressure on my foot and will give it time to heal.
But, in closing, I am happy that you healed. Never would I thought that something so simple would hurt so much. ALso, like you said, different shoes help. I tossed my old shoes (some Walmart ones) and got new ones -- like Dr. Sheoll's kind -- and got some Plantar Fasciitis inserts, which help tremendously. I can't feel the pain (mostly) when I have my shoes on. And, no more barefoot walking around the house, that's over with. I don't want to feel that pain again.
So, thanks. Glad to hear from someone who also suffered but conquered it.

    Great stretches Docs!
I taught Step aerobics in regular shaped athletic shoes for several years and it really did my PF in making my need for arch support increase. Other instructors had PF too.
But years later I learned about getting your toes to splay out in all shoes and over a year and a half with this my PF actually started to heal. I wore a product called CorrectToes in my shoes for a year. Though its hard to find wide toe box shoes for all occasions over the years I have and it has made a huge difference. I hardly ever have a twinge pain in my heal and don’t need as much arch support. It CAN heal! Get your toes to splay in all activities and follow Bob and Brads stretches! I cheer you on people! ⭐️

I've had pretty bad plantar fasciitis pain for quite awhile and did lots of exercises and tried the uncomfortable foot brace things to wear at night but when I finally started to force myself to walk with my painful (left) foot pointed forward instead of allowing it to aim off to the left as mine tends to do. The vast majority of my pain started to go away quite rapidly! I don't even think about it all of the time when I'm walking. But several times a day, when I'm on my feet at work, I am very conscious about aiming that foot straight forward. I've stopped all of the other exercises and am at least 90 percent pain free!

When I was training for marathons, I would get this condition. At my peak training, I was doing 2 hrs runs(12 miles) every other day. Here's what I did to cure it:
1.) Run barefoot on sand. This allows certain parts of the feet and shin to get stronger that would normally be constrained and non-active in running shoes. I did this once a week to mix up my training.
2.) Have 2 different pairs of shoes for running. A stiff/supportive offroad running shoe for long distance and a very flexible light weight minimal support track "type" shoes for my shorter runs. Alternate wearing them during training. Different parts of your feet will be stimulated and strengthened.
3.) Run with minimal vertical bouncing(watch your shadow, when you run, you will see it) and land mid foot. I used to take giant steps and land on my heels. To land mid foot you just increase your cadence and take shorter step. Then try to kick parallel to the ground. It will feel like you are "shuffling" or "dragging" your shoes across the ground. It's the most efficient way to run, because all the energy is fore/aft. I tested myself by doing medium distance speed work on a track and also on a treadmill.
I know changing your running technique is incredibly mentally annoying, but your race or speedwork times will show results. Plus, doing this requires no surgery, medication or the endless pursuit of the perfect orthotic.
    Keep on.

Alongside therapy, i was also watching ur videos and trying out ur exercises. You guys are fun to watch and ur opening song is addicting, Lol.
Anyway, My sciatica did not fully heal after therapy. Then i got pregnant. I already set my mind that it will be my most painful year. First trimester was a total pain. Then 2nd trimester got better and 3rd trimester, i never felt any pain. It was a miracle. Not sure if its the baby or the exercises and therapy that worked. Whatever it is, i know you guys were a big part of my recovery. So, Thank youuu!!

I've had chronic plantar fasciitis my entire life, had several bouts of this nastiness. The only thing that really helps me is shoes with high arches like earth shoes and a small incline in heel. I can't wear flats like flip-flops anymore

Had this horrible condition and suffered from it for around 2 years... till one night I switched to sleeping on my tummy and it went away the next morning. I guess it could be the way the arch is bent that solved it... but in a way its the opposite of the stretches recommended by the doctors and physios (which did give me temporary relief but never solved it ). Never looked back ... people who find it difficult breathing when lying on their tummy are not recommended to try this. Cheers.

The thumbs get tired too easily. I like to use the second knuckles on my fingers. They form a fairly "sharp" angle and let me massage with a lot of pressure for several minutes without fatigue.

How long will this take to heal. Mine just started 2 days ago and it's been getting better after each night. Can I expect full healing in a few weeks?

I used Birkenstock shoes for my houseshoes. Birkenstocks have arch support and conform to your foot. My foot has no problem with these.

The center of my pain is higher up from the heel (about 1.2 inches along the arch line). Is this still to be considered as PF? Thank you!

I either have this or a heel spur. What signs might help me know the difference? My right heel hurts terribly when I wake up and start walking and even when I get up after sitting for an hour or so at home.
