Thanks for this timely video! My daughter was just asking me to make a doctor's appointment regarding my swollen ankles. I will try the exercises in the linked video while waiting for my appointment.

What was the cause of your swelling? Do you have Chronic Venous Insufficiency? I do and I cannot wear compression socks. They caused nerve damage in my feet -- Morton's Neuroma and peripheral neuropathy. I'm trying to find alternative treatments for CVI since I can't wear the compressions. Any suggestions?
Has anyone with this tried lying on your back in bed with your legs straight and up with your heels against the headboard or wall? I used to do this when I was a waiter and had to stand for long periods of time. My feet would feel thick and heavy and I would do this for 5 minutes at night to feel releif. I don't know if would help swollen ankels. But maybe. It's safe and free to try.

Some blood pressure medications cause ankle swelling. If you are taking blood pressure medication and your ankles are swollen, it might be helpful to ask your doctor whether a different medication might help.
@@donmulder8061 If you’ve got swelling, you need to be taking it up with your doctor. On the other hand, it’s easy to google the side effects of any drug.
I feel these treatments are ok but the thing that’s the most important is trying to regulate your blood pressure.. by not eating salt 🧂 or salty foods.. and if possible walking to circulate your blood flow and keep your feet/legs from swelling up.. that’s probably the most affective and healthy way to help wit this issue.. I understand it happens to older folks more and it’s not possible for some to exercise but try to move your arms and legs in bed and/or whatever you can do to move to improve your blood circulation..
I retired from the military at age 50 and was in good shape but had some chronic conditions. Also my boots had been bloused with fatigues tightly tucked into them for 30 years. So when I retired and took the boots off for the last time, my ankles swelled up and stayed that way. I had a few times over the past few years where they were not swollen but more often than not, the left or both ankles are swollen and it looks awful and makes me feel unhealthy. I do use compression socks which help to some degree. I have no idea what caused it and can only imagine I damaged my veins all those years blousing my boots.
I lost 30 lbs. of water by cutting my salt in half, and then half again. I didn't like the taste of the salt substitutes, so I tried different seasonings and found that anything onion fooled my taste buds. For someone else, it might be a different seasoning. It's nice being able to wear shoes and sandals.
I’m in desperate need of doing something about my left ankle & foot. The blooming thing has been swollen & bloated for about five or six years. A ‘medical sock’ (?), almost knee length, does help somewhat. But it’s marvelous to see something like this ! 🇯🇵
I wear Therawear socks to work as a nurse (I'm in Australia) which help me immensely. The only struggle is in Summer (wearing the compression socks is a no go in the heat). I have to resort to lasix (Dr guided prescription) balanced with electrolytes. And.. leg elevation whenever I can.
Last week I had too much pizza slices for two days. On the third day my right foot swolle up. I thought lack of movement, standing still for large period, *and the pizza* were to blame. So, I walked in place instead of just standing when cooking/doing the dishes, I also put my feet up whenever possible (I laid on the couch with my feet on a cushion on the armrest so *my feet were higher than my legs*). And… for a few days I *cut salt to almost zero*. It worked like a charm. I now eat a bit more salt but looking at the thumbnail convinced me to lower it again.
I'm 62 and have had calf swelling in both legs since I was a teenager. I've been wearing support socks for 20 years now, and at end of day calves are swollen. Is that normal? Also, I now have bad knees and need replacements which I'm putting off...I have flat feet and have to wear prof made orthotics. Walking in stores on their concrete floors makes the pain really bad, in both my feet and knees and calves. Is swelling after wearing support socks normal? How about feet swelling? Btw, I really enjoy your videos! They are very informative. Thank you
Lots of great suggestions in the video, and in the comments. My contribution would be all-natural diuretics like dandelion root. It helps me with mild foot and ankle swelling. I also saw temporary changes and draining when I put my feet straight up at a right angle, but sustaining that has its obvious difficulties.
Five years. That’s pretty funny. I got exclusive DVT in 2007 we’re talking 17 years of massive like an ankle and foot swelling. I have gone salt, free, alcohol free. I’ve done my feet up on the wall for 20 minutes. I’ve done food that takes liquid out of your system. Nothing works. I’ve tried home lymphedema I’ve watched every video. There is nothing works.
I’m so sorry nothing has helped!! But keep on trying any ideas that u come across. U never know! I’ve had foot, ankle, and leg swelling up to my knee, for about 2 yrs, but am just starting out trying different things,?to see if they help. I hope something will! Good luck to both of us!!
I tried the Velcro compression wraps and the skin of my calves bubbled up all along the seams between the tabs. I ended up having to go back to the nurses to wrap my legs up by hand for days.
I sprang a leak in one leg and was alarmed, so I saw a doctor. He diagnosed me with lymphedema, but gave me practically no information. I wrapped my lower leg with an Ace bandage, but was frustrated that it would loosen and then drop to my ankles all at one. I spent too much time and mental energy pulling them up. Then I tried some good-quality compression socks, fitted by a specialist and prescribed by my doctor. They were helpful, too, but started to lose their elasticity and began falling down, especially when I was walking. I find they can be difficult to tike off especially if the fabric has bunched up in a thin strip that functions like a tourniquet. It's quite painful if I try to take the sock off when it is essentially cinched to my leg. How can I avoid these problems?
9 years ago I had a serious case of cellulitius on lower left leg (8 cases up until this March) - picked up a bacteria from the sea or ground. Being overweight and swollen feet and ankles didn't help. I have Odema, Chronic Vein Insufficiency. My Occupational Therapist fitted me up for compression stockings 30-40mmHG (open or closed toe choice) and I need to work the calf muscles by pointing my toes up towards my body to work the blood flow up. Must use an a large donning device and sturdy gripped gloves to apply the stockings. I have skinnier feet back and the ankles are much better. Now I can start to walk for longer periods.
I use a leg compression unit one hour a day that helps with the circulation in my ankles. Just make sure before you start you have gone to the bathroom to urinate.
@BobandBrad I have lymphedema in both my legs. I see a lymphedema therapist no-weekly. I use the Tubigrip on both my legs as well as ReadyWraps. For some reason my legs don’t like the sleeves that come with the ReadyWraps so I have been using the Tubigrip as the sleeve. I’m curious about the leg wraps that you are using in this video. Do you feel they are better than ReadyWraps?
Are they certain the problem with the swollen ankles was not Venous Insufficiency. Seventy per cent of women over the age of 60 have it and do not realize it. My husband has had four veins shut off (the valves glued shut with medical super glue) due to Venous Insufficiency. The defective valves in these veins were leaking, causing blood to pool in the ankles and feet. Venous Insufficiency can become extremely dangerous if not treated, with ulcers forming on the ankles.
I'm not sure why, but I've heard you're not supposed to wear any kind of compression while sleeping. Hopefully, the guys will see your question and can answer as to why that is.
I have edema below my left ankle and wrapping around my ankle. I think that wrapping that Juzo compression aid snugly above the ankle would force the lymphatic fluids down further. What are your thoughts on that?
Compression works well for me to reduce the swelling but I have stenosis. So the compression really aggravates the nerve that comes down across the top of my foot on my right leg. Maybe if I used the velcro compression wrap without the stocking.
I was scheduled for a procedure to have cyano acrylate injected into my varicosed veins, but somehow the thought of super glue in my veins was not appealing. Not sure where to go from here.
Too much salt consumption will not help swelling in any way. Gotta wonder if what a person puts in their body has an influence on how said body performs.
I just ordered the Bob and Brad leg massager with heat compression but haven't gotten it yet. Should I have bought this product instead? Would love some feedback on that. Thank you.
WHERE does one go to be fitted for the Juzo Compression Wrap? Also, does one have to continue to wear these every day after the swelling has gone completely down? Thanks for any response. - Susan Burns
Using compression socks does not solve the cause that the lymphedema glands and ducts are not removing the buildup of lymph fluid in the calves and ankles, because if a person stops using the compression socks, the problem of swollen calves and ankles returns.
This is an example of an issue mostly affecting women and where the patient is not taken seriously. “She didn’t “tolerate” it” means it was too tight, improperly applied and/or poorly designed. You want the product to be snug, not tight. Tight damages the soft tissue of an already swollen area. I know Brad cares about patients, so it’s not saying anything bad about him directly. The medical community overwhelmingly needs to do better with these compression products. They are not serving female and obese populations adequately.
No recommendation for elevating your feet? I bought a giant bolster when I had my hips replaced and still use it every night for about an hour before I go to sleep.
I developed peripheral neuropathy and Morton's Neuroma in my feet after 3 years of wearing 20-30mmhg compression socks for treatment of Chronic Venous Insufficiency. I switched to a lower grade, 15-20mmhg and it was still too much. Are there any alternative treatments for people like me who cannot wear compression socks due to the nerve damaging side effects in the feet?
Would these be good for flying? I suffer dreadfully with swollen legs when I fly, they are so painful! Also do you know if I can get them delivered to the U.K.?

@@gayleswilley1677 he did, but he also provided treatment options in his video. Most people will completely ignore seeing a proper provider and take up his treatment examples. And as far as he reports, his treatment example worked for his mother, but would not work for MOST people who have this issue. And may in-fact make other people’s issues much much worse. There are a whole host of issues that make this practice area very patient specific. There are many reasons I posted what I posted. Typically a CLT will have to pick up behind situations like this and help the patient get to a more appropriate and manageable place with their issue. However, it’s usually after there has been damage that cannot be reversed. I realize you may not agree with me, but what walks through my clinic doors frequently demonstrate what I am saying. This is no small topic and deserves an experienced approach and a lot more education. Cheers!
My mother used to have that issue.. still does but not nearly as much.. one thing she does nearly everyday is laying in bed and putting her feet up on a Foam Spongy pillow-like thing my sister gave her years ago.. that helps her so much.. and she does that from maybe 4pm to 7 pm and her feet don’t really swell up anymore…
This video's timing is amazing! I have been struggling with lower leg edema for several years; all of your videos on this medical issue are necessary. But this is almost a magic wand for me! Thank you all and your mother for this information. I am seeing my cardio team in a few weeks, and will discuss the script needed for these. Every penny paid will be of help, too. Best wishes to all. peace
A vibration plate (vibration setting) is very helpful for blood and lymph circulation but unfortunately not many PTs are familiar with it. For edema, just sit on a chair with your feet on the plate (also just watching TV !) or, better still, lay down and roll your calves on it. Hours later you’ll note a great improvement. The plate can be used for many other applications as well.
Oh wow thx so much. What a wonderful thing for your mother! I have a relative that suffers terribly for years which keeps him from walking. This is so great. Thank you for sharing❤

Thanks for doing this video. My left ankle swells up more than my right one. I've noticed that it's been swelling up more than usual. I'm going to discuss this with my vascular, cardiologist and primary doctors.
May I make a request? Could you do a video on how to manage extensor tendonitis? Mine is chronic, flares up if I walk too much, which is a huge bummer because all my muscles can definitely handle a lot more, I just need that flexion pain to quiet down EDIT: maybe it's actually the tibialis anterior tendon - looking at an anatomical drawing, that's the precise location where I feel pain/inflammation. Doesn't hurt along the metatarsal area.

I just ordered the Bob and Brad leg massager with heat compression but haven't gotten it yet. Should I have bought this product instead? Would love some feedback on that. Thank you.
Can I ask I how much Bob and Brads massager is?? Thank u So very much!!
@@foofookachoo1136 $109.99. I just rec'd it but haven't tried it yet.
What makes the edema come through the skin making it weepy ?
What specific brand and type of wrap?
Has anyone tried red light therapy? If so, was it helpful?
WHERE does one go to be fitted for the Juzo Compression Wrap? Also, does one have to continue to wear these every day after the swelling has gone completely down? Thanks for any response. - Susan Burns
I need this bob does this product help knees? The 2nd one l have agun but idk what head to use
THANK YOU for sharing this information and for all y'all share to help us 💕💕💕
Using compression socks does not solve the cause that the lymphedema glands and ducts are not removing the buildup of lymph fluid in the calves and ankles, because if a person stops using the compression socks, the problem of swollen calves and ankles returns.
Add keto diet as well and things will be ok
Does the sock go under or over the compression piece?
The compression sock or tubigrip goes under the wrap.
I’m wondering if this “Juzo compression wrap” can be used for varicose veins?
What is the best knee support for arthritis? Thx
Here's a video that help you figure out what's best for you: th-cam.com/video/QykzmNMo_VQ/w-d-xo.htmlsi=QBPZMuytAn-2Ce44
Thanks!
Thank you for your support, take care!
What is the name of the 2 part system so i can talk to my dr about it? I also hope it comes in a system for knees too
Little wisdom to you ha, some Doctors don't like you telling them what's wrong with you.
The two parts would be using Compression Stockings (we used Juzo) with the BraceAbility Lymphedema Leg Wrap
Are there any alternative treatments for people like me who cannot wear compression socks due to the nerve damaging side effects in the feet?
thank you for sharing your details on how you were injured using the compression socks
Where can I get the liner socks?
Thank you
Brad sir please heel pain bring video please Sir Please Please Please... 🙏🙏😭😢😥
Would these be good for flying? I suffer dreadfully with swollen legs when I fly, they are so painful! Also do you know if I can get them delivered to the U.K.?
Yes it would be! Which product are you referring to as there were a few in this video:)
@@BobandBrad the stocking and brace set.
I thought this was going to be some physio to help, I don't want to be wearing any of these daily, especially during the summer.
We understand that, there are exercises in here that can help too.
Doesn’t she get bored? Or does she watch TV or sleep? I assume u have to lay on your back? I’ve got some curvature of the spine and can’t stay flat on my back any longer thsn 15 to 20 min. , do guess that’s out for me!! And I have very bad edema, all the way to my knees!
Can compression socks be worn when you exercise like walking?
yes
Is it like a compression sock?
Not really, same concept though. Brad
What causes this?
Will I need to wear this all the time or the edema comes back.
yes unfortunately. I wish someone would discover its root cause. Then discover how to eliminate its root cause.
Not the same foot.!
Where's brad
Brad is in the video, I think you mean Bob. Here is more info on what's going on with Bob- www.bobandbrad.com/resource-category-page/ataxia
While I appreciate most of what you post - there are SIGNIFICANT GAPS in information in this video. So much so, it is dangerous. Please see a CERTIFIED LYMPHEDEMA THERAPIST. Sincerely, a Certified Lymphedema Therapist (CLT).
I thought he mentioned that
@@gayleswilley1677 he did, but he also provided treatment options in his video. Cheers!
Yes, I encouraged people to see a CERTIFIED LYMPHEDEMA THERAPIST :) Brad
Nothing worse than swollen cankles
Take those letters off
What letters?
What you are showing fits only on skinny legs!!!
That doesn't fit on swollen legs!!!
You got it wrong!!!
You all think that's the same foot 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
SALT is the cause
But it's hard to eat food without salt
Stop eating sugar
Absolutely! That should be step one.
Thanks for sharing!
Or just stop eating so much
Ignorant comment
Stop consuming ALL dairy people ...my edema went away
This is an issue with lymph (water) not fat.
Where can u buy them, please?? Thsnk u do much, should u reply!!
@@foofookachoo1136 Amazon, LifePro website. Mine is a LifePro Rumblex 4D. I love it.
Oh wow thx so much. What a wonderful thing for your mother! I have a relative that suffers terribly for years which keeps him from walking. This is so great. Thank you for sharing❤
Did she have to keep wearing it after the two weeks?
No, but the time is different for each person
Durva Swaras from Planet Ayurveda made a big difference in my edema. Consult with an Ayurvedic expert to ensure safe, effective use!
You are showing everything wrong way!!!
All on skinny legs!!! Wrong!!!
Why don't you show all of it on swollen legs?!!
Because it's not possible to get skinny wraps and socks on swollen legs!!! And they are all falling downwords!!!
How many people have spinal injuries and cannot bend down and get anything on!!!
You did not figure that out at all. Sorry!!!
$12-$25 a pair is not inexpensive. And they do not just slip on! I struggle to get those socks on!
Thank you for the information. I stand at work and sometimes those compression socks feel like they are cutting my leg off.
What are you opinions on the use of personal home use of ultrasound therapy machines?
So, which product do I use?
I've heard people talk about the zero-carb way of eating helping immensely with lymphadema.
Keto and intermittent fasting in combination. Eliminate all seed oils as well. I learned how to fix all this after watching "The Bittersweet Truth" Dr. Jamnadas, MD - Galen Foundation Lecture on TH-cam. It saved my life and cost me nothing.
Thanks for doing this video. My left ankle swells up more than my right one. I've noticed that it's been swelling up more than usual. I'm going to discuss this with my vascular, cardiologist and primary doctors.
May I make a request? Could you do a video on how to manage extensor tendonitis? Mine is chronic, flares up if I walk too much, which is a huge bummer because all my muscles can definitely handle a lot more, I just need that flexion pain to quiet down
EDIT: maybe it's actually the tibialis anterior tendon - looking at an anatomical drawing, that's the precise location where I feel pain/inflammation. Doesn't hurt along the metatarsal area.
I couldn’t find where you listed these last two products that you say finally worked in the video notes?????
I had lymphedema after my pregnancies it was terrible 😭
