Pete, I can't thank you enough for all your hard work with sharing your knowledge and making these videos. Your constant sense of encouragement and to never give up on trying a tough job is amazing! You're a great teacher !
I'm 30 seconds in and I want to take a sound bite of the speech. My friend Pete, do you happen to remember the color code and brand of both the red and blue pearl you used back when you did this? That color combo is just beautiful!!! Excellent job!
though the "ghost effect" wasn't' as Ghostly as once thought,, the job turned out really sweet!!! I really want to apply Ghost flames on my new Harley Freewheeler , I just need a place to do it.
Thanks for the video....btw laughed my ass off at about 8:15 when the tape wouldn't let go..."the more flexafuc kingbility you need"... would make a great tshirt!!!!! LOL
Damn Pete. You are an artist. Makes me wanna ghost flame my Cadillac! im sharing this on Facebook. Killer shit buddy.... Like the Willy's flame job. Awesome
My friend Pete! I laughed so hard when the tape got stuck to your fingers and it wouldn't come off...you should use that on all your videos either at the start or the end! Very funny because it happens to me all the time..especially my shoes and sometimes I don't see it until I'm in a store or restaurant and at my age it's a sonofabitch to reach down and get it off! heeheeheehee
You run the risk of cutting into the paint below, depending on paint materials used, it can cause a paint lifting situation which will destroy all of your work. I have used frisket paper on top of the fine line tape and cut it out. It does save a lot of time doing it that way.
I learned quite a few tricks from this vid, I got one question..on your pearl mix..did you use straight reducer with no intercoat clear / binder? Never thought about that
great stuff mate. you prove that with a little patience n a lot of graft, anything is possible man. Cheers for posting dude! where's weekly looser guy? Lol.
WELL I"M BUILDING A OLD SCHOOL STYLE CHOPPER WITCH IS A 1971 IRONHEAD SPORTSTER AND THE BASE COAT IS A BURNT ORANGE PEARL METALIC AND I WAS JUST WONDERING IF I CAN DO MY GHOST FLAMES WITH COLOR SHIFTING PEARLS ?
Robert Gwinn Hi Rob. To be truthful, I haven't even had one of my bikes fired up this summer yet. I built an auxiliary gas tank for the chopper and got that installed with the solo seat but me and Wendy have been busy cutting firewood for winter so just no time for riding yet. Pretty soon, I hope, but now I'm getting side tracked on building a sidecar for the chopper, so who knows. LOL. God bless and stay safe.
Hi Pete:I'm new to the pearl thing - well actually painting in general. I enjoy watching listening and learning. LOL Did I see that right - Just the dry flakes in reducer?? So how does it stick - just melt into the existing basecoat. I see you're about to cover it with the blender so I guess that holds it down for the next step? Just wondering.Makes me want to go out and get a piece of sheet metal and give it a try. Can't wait till the next installment to see the rest.ThanksSage
Something like that, you want to take the pearl powder and mix it with reducer, then spray your flames to the consistency that you like, once this is done then spray with the blender to protect them.. The pearl will go on dry because your moving fast and your gun is held back, so don't touch them or mess with them till you have applied the blender.. Practice on some sheet metal panels before jumping into a full motorcycle paint job..
Thanks Pete: That explains it. What I find frustrating is the price of paint etc. That makes it very expensive to just "Play around" to gain some experience. I suppose there's no point in buying cheap supplies even to play with. Oh well I guess you just have to bite the bullet. I enjoy your videos - even the travel logs. Keep up the good work. Sage
Nice video like always pete, i wash all the video, but theres one thing i did not understand, when u mix the drye pearl, did u just mix it pearl and reducer, or it was little be of base paint, pearl and reducer, ? if you can help me pete with this question or some body out there thanks in advance, god blesed.
Yea, we don't go crazy over the tape job, we go crazy when the doggone phone rings. LOL SHUUUUUUT UUUUUP !!!!! I'm laughing with ya, not atcha. NICE WORK DUDE.

Real down to earth guy !! No bullshit !!! Cheers man .
Thinking out loud here,
Why not cover the tank in friskit paper, draw flames, and then cut them out?

Thank you for your time making these diy videos. You have made my bike project a lot more fun to work on.
Could you put the dry Pearl in Color-Blend,instead of slow reducer?
Nice video like always pete, i wash all the video, but theres one thing i did not understand, when u mix the drye pearl, did u just mix it pearl and reducer, or it was little be of base paint, pearl and reducer, ? if you can help me pete with this question or some body out there thanks in advance, god blesed.
Just reducer only.. Use Medium Temp Reducer to do this with so it will give it a good time period to otomize properly
@@diyautoschool thanks alot for ur prompt response pete.
great video but on my flames i dont do the same on both sides as fires are all over the place and never the same

Hey Pete, what do you think of 2k spray cans.
I always wanted to learn how to paint and airbrish
What's the shelf life of the pearl/urethane thinner mix?
Another great video. Pete
Getting ready to start practicing the flame game 😂😂
I use a HoK cosmic show clear then more color and clear agsin. I'd have to use an Airbrush on that small rank. But that's skill

Who in their right mind, confirmed and signed off on the absolutely most horrendously ridiculous intro. That was horrible!
I had to stop watching about the first 30 seconds. This guys vocabulary smells worse than sewer.
"Ghost flames", very childish looking..
maybe it's just me but every other word you speak is a curse word it would have been better if you just kept to what you are teaching.
