The idea that Foxy was a future plan also makes sense with all the construction STAFF Bots around. That suggests the construction was a recent thing, not some old abandoned thing from the Pizzaplex's early days. I do think Roxy was supposed to be the Pizzaplex's Foxy when it opened (similar name, similar animal, same eyes, lack of any Glamrock Foxy mentions ever), but that doesn't mean that Fazbear couldn't go back on that later on and retroactively fit the old Foxy in when they realized he was popular enough. "What do you mean we have a Foxy already in Roxy? Nah they're uhh they're cousins! Yeah that's it, they're just cousins but he moved away a while ago." or something.
That actually reminds me of a POPGOES lore bit, where a pirate themed Freddy's location had Foxy in a cove alongside a "cameo" character exclusive to this location, being Cody the Coyote. Despite being different species, they are both pirates and cousins to an extent.

I honestly don't think there ever was supposed to be a GLAMROCK Foxy. He's a pirate, and it wouldn't make sense for Foxy to suddenly start doing electric-guitar solos & stuff like that. I honestly believe there WAS going to be a Glamrock-style Foxy animatronic, but sharing a more similar appearance to Captain Foxy, as seen on the posters near the Kid's Cove in Security Breach

I think Foxy being the old daycare attendant is interesting! Especially because Mangle (or the revamped Toy Foxy) used to be in charge of the Kid's Cove/daycare area in an old pizzeria, like we see in FNAF 2
I agree that there was never a Glamrock Foxy and that they were almost ready to unveil a Foxy area set alongside Roxy's raceway, it just makes too much sense. There was WAY too much construction far away from the sinkhole. Considering Fazbear Entertainment's love of money it could be as simple as they made one or more Foxy-centered animated movies (we see the poster for at least one of them in the main game) that got really popular and they decided to capitalize on it. Like you said, they probably dipped their toe in with the Kid's Cove to see how it would do and it was very successful. It helps explain the western theme existing alongside his normal pirate theme if they were theming different areas of his section on these different movies. That would also explain why he's normal Foxy instead of a Glamrock if they want the branding to be consistent with those movies.
I prefer this theory than that of Roxy replacing Foxy. This whole story of animatronics being scrapped and replaced by new ones is already something we’ve seen in the Pizzaplex after all. With Glamrock Bonnie and Monty. Sure Bonnie wasn’t really scrapped and Monty was already around when the main band was but still, Monty did replace Bonnie as the base player and he went missing. So to see a different story where Fazbear just wanted to add more diversity to their animatronic characters and bring in Foxy is alongside Roxy is neat. However, this still begs the question: who really was the original daycare attendant if Foxy was never there to begin with? Maybe it’s Mr Hippo and they repurposed him to be in the band when Freddy leaves? Idk. Maybe it was another new character. We’re gonna have to wait till the next book or game or dlc to get more information on that.
The saloon/salon thing is great. I totally believe that (especially since the Roxy/Foxy thing already exists). Also, the salon is in the desert, so it makes complete sense.

It honestly feels more like Foxy is in a different form of media than the actual places, like a cartoon series or film series where he could be a pirate, a cowboy, etc.
In the base game, I always thought it was weird that there was an extra endo just standing there in Parts n Service. Back then I thought maybe it was Bonnie's endo, but now that we found Bonnie it can't be. Maybe that was going to be Glamrock Foxy they just didn't have a shell ready yet.
What if Foxy was turned into a side character used for advertising to an older, more nostalgic crowd? The constant construction could def just be the sinkhole doing sinkhole things.
God this makes me wish that a Foxy animatronic was in storage somewhere during the Ruin DLC, for Cassie to stumble across, accidentally activate, and be part of the story/gameplay from then on, whether as a fully functional non-ruined enemy, or more of a Roxy/Freddy friendly animatronic. It would have been an amazing reveal, hearing a classic pirate ‘YARRR’ and having him emerge from the dark, especially if Steelwool had managed to keep it quiet. Or better yet if he sang his classic ‘dum dum de dum’ tune from FNAF 1 before stalking into view, would’ve hit right in the nostalgia, especially for the og fans
Just wanted to say that I really appreciate the structure of your videos! I think an issue some theory channels face is finding the balance between being convincing of a theory and reminding the audience that it's really just speculation causing some people to react badly if either is out of balance. But you do this really well!
The ‘beer cave’ theory is also supported by Chuck E Cheese/Shiwbiz Pizza deciding between their lead mascots during the early 90s rebranding move (childhood trauma unlocked: Billy Bob Was My Favorite). Feels reasonable that Fazbear Entertainment would attempt similar. Edit: I shouldn’t comment mid-video, this makes way more sense (goes back to waiting for an obvious “replacing Billy Bob with Chuck” homage)
Ugh i’m so glad rye talked about foxy. He’s my favorite animatronic and not seeing him in game was 🥲 it was mainly hush hush until ruin while bonnie still had some sort of platform whilst being gone

Nice theory ! I personnaly prefer the idea of Foxy being the original DayCare Attendant. It would kind of make sense. I mean, Mangle (or Toy Foxy to be precise) was made to take care of toddlers. If (s)he had not be so fragile, Toy Foxy's role would have basically the one of a DayCare Attendant. And even OG Foxy was in a sense. We do not know what he was doing in the Pirate Cove for sure, but he had a stage so he must have been some kind of storyteller (no pun intended) for kids to listen? Similarly to the theater attraction in the Daycare. Fazbear like to keep their bots' roles "consistent". Gl.Freddy is the singer... Like all Freddys. Gl.Bonnie was the bassist... Like all Bonnies. Gl.Chica is food-themed... Like all Chicas. So it would make sense for Foxy to be "in charge of the kids" like the line was always meant to be. And even if I understand whant make people think of Roxanne being "Gl.Foxy", it would just make more sense for the line to keep its "role" instead of being switch to a band member, while no other Foxy ever was in the band to begin with.

As we saw with Monty and Mr. Hippo the animatronics don't start out glamrock, they get promoted to it. It would not surprise me if Foxy does not get promoted to glamrock but instead stays "on a different stage" with his area. That would allow him to do his cowboy/pirate/captain theme instead of trying to mash glamrock and pirate. It could also be that in getting reworked from a daycare attendant and getting his "attraction" he was temporarily retired and it's been enough time that "Foxy will be back with his Flume ride" is a standard response. Either that or "Foxy is busy being a movie star right now". Especially since in Captain Foxy's Pirate Adventure Freddy, Bonnie and Chica are their older designs, not their glamrock glowups.
The obly problem I have with this theory is the fact that Foxy has two distinctly different themes at the pizzaplex. One is the expected pirate theming, but the other is a...Cowboy? Yeah. Why? It doesn't make sense. I don't understand why they did that.
It seems to me that Fazbear Entertainment has a Wild West-themed series (be it television, or comics or what-have-you), as there was also a Wild West-themed Chica standee (8:25). So, perhaps Foxy was just made into a cowboy in that series, and it was popular enough to theme an area of the Pizzaplex around it.
Another piece of evidence for your Foxy was the day-care attendants: it's a job that's been given to Foxy before. Mangle(officially Toy Foxy) was in Kids' Cove, meant to keep the younger kids busy. They became the Mangle because kids kept ripping them apart and putting them back together.
Seeing how he is still present in the theater and had his own little area I think it was more so a creative choice by fazbear to leave foxy as a rough and tough scourge of the seas while filling the “foxy slot” with something that’s close enough to a foxy
I think that Foxy being actively added makes a good deal of sense, he wouldn't be a glamrock, he'd be his original self as his own act, like how DJ Music Man is and Monty was. I like to think that the idea to bring back Foxy came up after Bonnie got replaced by Monty; they wanted a backup plan for if/when another animatronic got decommissioned like Bonnie.
I always saw it as Fazbear entertainment wanting to make something more modern in Roxt but still wanting something with Foxy since he still had a following,especially considering by the time of FNAF 3 people were cosplaying as the animatronics.

Finally! About time someone covered Foxy in depth. He’s such an interesting character and we know so little about his story in comparison to the others. The paint claws in the flumes area make me think something bad went down in there but idk.
With how Roxy appears in In Space 2 with the OG 4, I was tempted to think she'd join Freddy, Bonnie and Chica onstage while Foxy remained a separate side act on his own little stage ...minus FNAF 6 probably if you're choice Rockstar layout pits Lefty on the small side stage with the main having the other 4 arranged like that office drawing. So Foxy would've been more a side character like Monty was while Chica, Freddy, Roxy and Bonnie took the stage. If graphic novels of Tales come out in a couple years, I'd be super interested if the backgrounds were of a Pizzaplex that still had Bonnie (even if they may be less accurate if Scott is letting the artists do their own thing). But since we're talking old Glamrock band, let me turn back to Bonnie and Chica: I don't dislike his design revealed in Ruin, but a couple things: we've long believed he had claws, based on the Monty messages, though his model's fingers sport no nails. And his color: this bunny's blue may be paler than Toy Bonnie, but the bowling signage, still appearing in Ruin, has him a classic indigo. And no Glamrock accessories like the bangles, shoulder pads and face paint like the other Glamrocks in pretty all around the building. Not counting the HW toys and On Tour art. I actually question how involved Scott was with Ruin; I've seen no words directly from him on it. Did they have that pale blue Glamrock when developing the base game? The Glamrock Bonnie in In Space 3 is especially clashing to Ruin's compared to Roxy and Chica. Is this what Scott imagined for his colors? The most they deviated in base would be Monty without sunglasses, Roxy in a jacket, and Mermaid Chica. And with that dress cutout fitting the criteria with lacking bangles, let's transition to her... Storyteller describes her more like Classic Chica - bib, yellow and Cupcake, while Roxy, Monty and Glamrock Freddy were dead on to their models. I almost wondered if, concerning what you said on the Pizzaplex having a more Classic looking cast, their instruments would've been too. Chica singing with Freddy while Bonnie played guitar. But upon the voicebox experiment, she was restricted from singing, took on the guitar, and Bonnie was given a bass. However unlike Bonnie Bowl art, we've no signs of a yellow Chica like that. If she changed to white in the books, it'd probably be after Bonnie's removal as Monty is in Storyteller, but the Ruin exclusive cutouts in the Chpt 3 ride and that dress one have her white. Ixd even argue Storytellers Chica to be a different bot altogether, or at least the virus infection thing is different, as while that corrupted Chica was more craving attention than food, SB'S white bird still retained the appetite and got distracted with it. Perhaps if it was a replacement, it could tie to the scrapped bird in the sewers in Bobbiedots. Like Monty Within, they didn't specify that one being yellow or white.
I like the standing during theories. I think it'll be especially cool as a signal to show that you have some really crazy/good/crazy good theory you are going to show us. A like: "Brace yourself." signal for the viewers who've been here a while/are better at noticing. Just a nice little easter egg warning symbol or the like.

Building off the idea of foxy as the original daycare attendant. My idea on why he had to be replaced is what if he fell to the same fate as Toy Foxy, or more properly, Mangle.
So this is something I pointed out on your old where is foxy and bonnie video after ruin was released, super cool to see you agree with it, at lest in part! Both about where Foxy was, and Foxy vs Roxy thing and how it may have been a corporate move to modernize and gain new fans (with Roxy filling the part) and leaving it open for later expansion (with fan favorite Foxy) when traffic may have slown down, like a theme park does to incentivize new guests as well as get people to return. Gonna copy it here because I still think this and I think it's interesting to think about, at least, and people may like it after this video: I thought you were right about Foxy being upcoming addition, rather than testing the waters for him I think it was a planned future expansion. Think about it. They already knew he was popular, they have memorabilia of him everywhere, and his own small area. Not to mention there's Foxy plushies everywhere. But what's the biggest way people get people to pay for something they've done already? Add something new that a big enough draw to go again. Something like adding a whole new attraction themed on an extremely popular character, who's already known for being a separate thing from the rest of the band anyways, using his own stage in his own separate part of the restaurant. Fazbear while planning their new massive space knows Foxy is a super popular character that would draw a lot of attention to the new pizzaplex. But why not save him as a special addition for when the original hype was slowing down or any dip in attendance happened? In the meantime, create a new character very similar in design to hope it can leach off the popularity of the character, especially when the favorite in question is missing. Modernize it so it holds attention till older ages since kids grow out of pirates (and cowboys) at a younger age. Remember that it's known how girls tend to have higher interest in other female characters, meanwhile you currently only have one (no one ever wants to talk about the Baby character as an animatronic for some reason), so make the cloned character a girl to make the market bigger. Have her like hair stuff, so you can sell beauty product lines, and you can charge a lot for themed makeover looks and outfits too. But you don't want her to be too distanced from boys, especially the Foxy fans. So make her like something cool, like cars and racing. But something for the girls still too, so give her something girlie we can charge more for, like makeovers. (or it could have been two teams, one a modern Foxy clone and one a new female character, and then combined them, as another team works on making a more antagonistic character, aka Monty) And boom, you have Roxy, who will help tide over Foxy fans annoyed he isn't there on their first visit, and may bring new fans in by having more female choices. Meanwhile, after a lot of people have had their one big and expensive trip (or have used their year long passes to bowl and golf as much as they can stand), you expand, to draw people back for another visit, and revitalize the ones who you had already hooked. And doing it with an extremely popular character is the best way to do so. A new Foxy attraction would be more than enough to get fans to come back, but then (as we now know) make it a high energy log flume when so far there had only been a few rides among the attractions. That makes it a draw even for those that may not care about Foxy. You can also get away with a large additional ticket for the area, making it beneficial financially. You give them a taste of what they want, by having Foxy around. The cutouts, the play area. Reassure people he's not forgotten or replaced. And then later give them a welcome surprise that will make them grateful and happy for the new addition. The prize counter area being so empty could have also been prepping for this phase two as well, with plans to add the Puppet, who has less fans than others but ones that are very dedicated. A line of plushies and a few arcade machines proved positive feedback. (Or steel wool just ran out of time to do more in the area) Anyways thats my thinking, that they'd be smart enough to know that Foxy is in demand, and just waiting to expand the pizzaplex to draw more traffic. Also I think it's really interesting how no one thinks of Roxy as some replacement usurper the way they do with Monty and Bonnie, when Roxy is a more one to one replacement, and there's more about Monty and Bonnie existing at the same time rather than the seeming complete re skin replacement Roxy functionally is in game.
Also I never understood the assumption people made that Roxy Raceway was a replacement for the log flume and was on top of it? I may have only watched rather than physically played ruin, but it seemed to be clearly next to Roxy's area rather than on top of it
That thing about Sheetz i remember all too week lol. We had one of the "test" stores that had beer but you couldn't pay for gas same transaction. Then i saw every other Sheetz have them. Was not just them, a lot of grocery stores made a "beer garden" area all of a sudden.
What if early on, Roxy was originally designed to be a love interest for foxy like a Daisy Duck to Donald Duck situation? That could help explain why she has the self esteem issues that she does; if she was originally designed to be the partner for a character that was never actually added. It could make her feeling incomplete.

With the Freddy cartoons they released leading to the release of Security Breach I kinda assumed that foxy was getting reskinned or replaced in some way since every cartoon played out with Foxy getting "unmasked" to be an endoskeleton. But they obviously never touched on that in the actual game lol

Man....At first I thought Roxy Salon/Foxy Saloon would be too similar, especially next to each other, and they wouldn't want customers to get confused, but Fazbear Entertainment sure WOULD leave their entry-level staff to wrangle angry parents who made an appointment for the wrong room.
My theory is this. The owner of the pizzaplex had already started building the 4 main animatronics before they decided on the theme of the pizzaplex. When they decided on glamrock, they realized they couldnt use foxy because glamrock pirate doesnt really work. But instead of scraping the foxy endoskeleton that was being built, they simply invented a similarly shaped character without the pirate theme to use the endo. Hence roxy, a character in the place of foxy whos only really point of similarity with him is body shape
They should've just hired people to build the Foxy attraction like normal companies do instead of wasting money on Staffbots who couldn't do it at all :')
Hey Rye, you mind If I jump in on the Roxy theorizing?? My theory with Roxy is based around her personality and behavior: 1. Need for speed 2. Narcissistic and attention seeking 3. Plays favorites and remembers things about the people who give her the most attention In my opinion these traits most closely match those of some DOG breeds and I've heard some theories that Mangle -- a former fun-time Foxy -- had the soul of Susie's (Chica) dog inside of it. My play here is that Roxy -- who is obsessed with cars, loves attention and as seen in Ruin is drawn to Cassie, a young girl -- is a repurposed Mangle, rebuilt from her funtime Foxy specs and re-painted and upgraded with a more anthropomorphic form. Just my theory and opinion. I know MatPat is theorizing that Steel Wool and Scott are pivoting toward the A.I. angle to put the whole "LITERAL ghost in the machine" idea in the past which makes my idea...kind of irrelevant? But I think its a fun and...kind of sad concept as well.
Plus the Roxy raceway set dressing is a desert-y thing. I don’t know geography. But point is it’s themed in a way that Wild West stuff could be pretty easily added, in a way you couldn’t if it were like. A stadium. Or city streets. Or space or something.
tbh the "made sure the lights never went off" sounds like a quick-fix made on the go to cover something so it feels actually like a fitting puzzle piece to the theory. Something happened to the original daycare attendant (Foxy) so the light thingy feels quick, unnatural, not intended. EDIT: I got an afterthought. So, bear with me. What if Foxy was only Foxy and as an attendant but he was so popular with kids they wanted to make him into glamrock, they took the OG Foxy from daycare to get him reprogrammed, it was almost done, his area was almost ready and... the Gregory and the earthquake happened... now call me crazy, but if pizzaplex would get another game after the one we are getting (since we are revisiting old place, so I think there is possibility for revisiting the pizzaplex... I mean cmon! The blob is still there, we need to make sure Cassie is out... one way or another... we WILL come back there at some point) we WILL have Foxy in that story. Also for the marketing purposes, people were asking "where's bonnie?" seeing his bowling zone in SB, now we have gotten to see too many Foxy themed things.
I just always assumed that since Foxy had his own movie where he's clearly the main character, Faz ent was trying to separate him slowly from the gang and make him his own thing, or make some kind of spin off or sister location restaurant. They're treating him like El Chip in the sense that he's his own thing, but because the Pizzaplex shows off what properties Faz ent owns (kinda like Disneyland), he still makes small appearances here and there but wasn't ever considered as a main character due to execs wanting to push him as his own thing. This is more speculation and fan fiction-y but with the way Foxy's being promoted in the pizzaplex, they're probably trying to test the waters for how a Foxy themed restaurant would stand in its own. Again with the Disney parks comparison, they have different parks with different experiences in different places. With the way Faz ent has seemed to of bounced back from their horrible PR nightmare that William created, they seem to have become a huge corporate conglomerate, and making another mall or restaurant or whatever themed around Foxy seems like the next logical step for them.
Here’s a thought I had, the base game of security breach take place in one night, and ruin probably does the same, so what if we get 3 more dlc’s that take place in one night with a new character making it technically five nights with new things in each dlc.
How come some spirits (Charlie,Elizabeth,William,Crying Child and,if you’re right,Cassie’s dad) can possess suits on their own but others (MCI,maybe DCI if they actually possessed the toys and,if you’re right,the other staff of the Pizzaplex) need help? Also,I suspect Elizabeth has,for some reason,a stronger soul than other people which is why she can change Baby’s eye colour when nobody else changes their animatronic’s eye colours. Thirdly,Michael was stuck inside the springlock suit in SL for 18 hours and Baby says his heart beat and breathing are setting off the spring locks so how the hell is he not dead?
Here is an interesting theory. What if all of this was sort of a teaser for a special event at the Pizzaplex, that was supposed to feature Foxy. And due to the Pizzaplex closing down or turning into the Ruined area we see in Ruin, it was never made into a real thing. Glamrock Foxy was planned by Fazbear entertainment to be added and have his own area, but wasn't able to be made and become official, because of all the incidents and the loss of Glamrock Bonnie. This could have also been a fear, as since Monty was the one who replaced Bonnie, they feared that if Foxy existed, it would make Roxanne Wolf Jealous. It could have also been a premiere for a Fazbear animated Movie, so as to keep Foxy alive. Looking at the posters you see, it does look like a Movie Poster you'd see at the movies, so it's possible that is what Foxy had. He was planned for a in-universe fazbear cartoon movie, that depending on it's success, popularity, and how much it made people at the pizzaplex want Foxy, they would add Foxy as an animatronic who would have his own area. He wouldn't need to be part of the main 4, but he'd have his own area, and maybe even have his own merchandise.
@RyeToast Given the minimal letter differences between Foxy & Roxy and Saloon & Salon, not to mention the similarity in archetypal & design aspects between them both; Fazbear Entertainment may very well have reused the existing Foxy exo and area to make a different character. It very plausable that a company would attempt to reuse existing assets, at minimal additional cost, to make a less dangerous attraction and a new Character for their more feminine patrons. Chicka being the only main female animatronic Character doesn't exactly work in the Salon or active lifestyle setting/context. By the time of the Pizza Plex's setting, it would be reasonable to assume there would be greater demand for more feminine representation in activities and Characters. My guess would be that they first attempted to re-brand Foxy as a Cowboy, though were met with failure in market testing. To add salt to the wound, Foxy's log ride was likely deemed too much of an insurance liability compared to the raceway. So, making the Captain Foxy story gives them an out as far as where Foxy is; Foxy became a Space Pirate, while the Kids Cove area tells the story of how he became a longshorman prior to setting off for space. Which happens to be where the Sun and Moon are, relative to the Earth. Meanwhile, Fazbear can scrap the Saloon and replace it with a Salon just by dropping an O. Foxy can become Roxy by altering the F into an R with little effort due to the similar structure of both letters. This way they can make a new Feminine Character, one more suited to "Girly stuff" while also having a more universal, if not slanted toward Masculine, attraction in the form of her Raceway. Chika is more of a Domestic Archetype, associated with cooking & consumption. They would have needed a new Feminine character to bridge the gap to achieve a more Independent & Carefree Archetype. It's also quite likely the Longshorman version of Foxy use to be the original daycare attendant with Sun & Moon being more of a security & child safety exo; Essentially having Foxy being the caring and empathetic programed Exo while Sun & Moon ensured people who weren't authorised to remove the a child couldn't. A more focused and localised security exo that specialised in abduction prevention of the younger children's area. With the business pivot towards additional staff bots and a need for a new feminine character, it would make sense to reuse the existing daycare Foxy Exo as the basis for the new character. As they could just reprogram the Sun & Moon exo to be the daycare attendant and explain Foxy's absence by making a story that he went to Space. Allowing them to cut costs, easily reuse existing assets and cater to a broader feminine demographic simultaneously. The fact Roxy remembers the protagonist's birthday and showed her a significant level of empathy also seemingly implies that much of the Daycare programing remained in Roxy's system. A trait that the other animatronics don't seem to exibit to the same degree as Roxy. Which would also help accelerate her popularity to be on par among the other already beloved Characters. Contrast this with the more recent addition to the band, whom replaced a beloved Bonnie, and their popularity pales in comparison to the reception of the addition of Roxy. But ofcourse, Bonnies replacement was less planned out and more done to quickly make up for the sudden loss of Bonnies Animatronic. So the public perception and hastily put together story line for the replacement was never hoing to be as positive as the introduction of Roxy & phasing out of Foxy. Which, if it were the case, seems far more well thought out and done more in responce to a failed attempt to re-brand Foxy as a cowboy. It's quite likely they did finish most of the Log ride and part of the Saloon before realising the issue with the Sinkhole and getting any market testing results in re-branding Foxy as a cowboy. With those two major issues and likely getting feedback of a lack of diverse feminine respresentation; They would choose to cut costs and reuse what they can while making a story for Foxy's absence and Roxy's inclusion. Make part of the Saloon into a Salon and make a cost effective attaction with legal liability issues. From there they would needbto be constantly fixing/reinforcing the floor near the sinkhole area. So best to store and make use of the construction materials & equipment in the old log ride and rest of the Saloon area, which would also give them better access to the area under the Salon and Raceway to carry this ongoing task out. Clearly, after the All Staff meeting this maintenance was not well kept or done by the Staffbots. They likely got confused with their assigned task and attempted to maintain the log ride as well as attending the maintenance of the support structure's for the Raceway. Divided attentions and log ride "Testing" during this may have led to an unsustainable attrition of lost Staffbots to maintain the supports.
Well, there seems to be some holes here. For one, your interpretation of how the Daycare Attendant functions doesn't seem to match up with their backstory from TFTP. The technicians struggled to reprogram them, so I don't see them having such special functionalities. And why would management consider rebranding Foxy? Did kids not like pirates anymore? (he's a cowboy _pirate_ in the DLC, so the whole premise kinda falls apart) If pirates are no longer popular, then why's he still present throughout the Pizzaplex as cutouts and posters? And there's a lot of endos lying around, so why use Foxy to make Roxy? They're miles apart from each other in terms of personality, so I'd imagine that reprogramming Foxy to Roxy would be such a hassle, so they might as well start over. Ngl, I'm definitely pulling this part out of my butt because I despise the idea that Foxy became Roxy. Especially when there's no such indication at all from the game, not even from a single message log. Why can't she just be an addition to the band? Why does she have to be related to him in some way just for having a similar name (well, nickname) and animal species? Foxy has always been the most characterized of the four animatronics, so I just can't see Scott and SWS just throwing all that away, y'know? Which is why I think he still exists as a character in the Pizzaplex, just not as an animatronic. People not liking pirates anymore is unfathomable, because they always embody freedom and adventure in media. I don't think anyone in their right mind would think that pirates will be seen as uncool in some future. I can't see Scott and SWS just thinking that. I apologize if I came off rude or whatever. I wish I didn't care so much about this specific topic lmao
I like this. It's a neat and tidy explanation. Given the state of construction, and the announcement at the start of SB that the Pizzaplex is going to be closed for a couple days for maintenance, make me think that the entire Roxy and Foxy section was meant to be completed during that time, were it not for the events of Security Breach throwing a wrench into that time table. Then again, while I don't know how you fix things if you've built your building over a giant freaking cave, I doubt it's an issue that can be resolved in just a few days, hahaha.
I will say, I don’t think the presence of other Foxy Variants is great “Roxy isn’t Foxy” evidence since we also see plenty of Freddy and Chica Variants. I’m not married to Roxy being Foxy but to me it just kind of makes sense.

I'm surprised no one yet talk about the enviromental story in the log ride area. I believe that tell what happened to Foxy and why the ride was cancelled. But none of the big theorists I ever watched talk about it. Maybe I'm wrong and I can't play the game to check for myself.
As someone who loves the concept and idea funtime foxy and mangle are based off the same updated model version of foxy but are different characters I like the concept foxy and Roxy were supposed to advertise to both girls and boys as a competitive duo of characters Fox and wolf duo would have been a favorite of mine anyway.
I strongly stick to the- albeit basic but perfectly reasonable explanation of- roxy nekng the fill-in for foxy, the way monty was the fill-in for bonnie. Roxy's salon being desert themed and located right next to foxys area could've just been like, something happened to foxy while his area was still under construction and they had to replace him midway, so they used the remaining space of that area for the new mascot Roxy. The daycare attendant foxy thing is really interesying too though, i mean look at the way the daycare itself is even constructed! Lots of places to climb, a sea of plastic balls, that giant ledge that sun jumps off at the beginning. Seems very attuned for somebody who likes to swashbuckle.

I know that people have been saying "i feel sorry for casual fans who dont understand fnaf lore but want to", but i have been following the franchise since beginning, though only actually started to try to understand lore/theorize since last year. My pov is basically: I have a incomplete timeline in mind that has some HUGE plotholes that idk what to do with lol. Overall, i'm not as confused as theorists think people like me are. Unless they were going to replace his hook with a drum stick and put him on drums, his pirate-theme outfit doesn’t fit a rock band; him being added as like a side attraction with a Concertina doing sea shanties makes more sense. I do agree that Foxy was never there since I have seen some other theorists say there was an accident and Foxy was being fixed, yet never saw him in SB or Ruin, meaning his animatronic was never built (or Steel Wool will do another DLC and add it in lol).
I honestly feel like it's a combination of everything here. When the Pizzaplex first opened, the Glamrocks were new designs, everything was riding on how the public took them - so they think "man, we shouldn't leave Chica as the Token Girl ™, let's replace someone." They couldn't get rid of Freddy, obviously, he's the face of the franchise, and Bonnie's been around just as long. Replacing Chica would be counterproductive. Foxy had to take the blow. But they didn't want to anger his old fans either, so they didn't want to completely erase him and put him as the Daycare Attendant. Little kids get to be comforted by a character they're already familiar with, and it appeals to parents' nostalgia for the character, so he doesn't get a real redesign as a Glamrock either. Later on, whether because of Monty's success as a new character or because people were mad two new characters were present when a classic had very little attention given to him, the specifics there don't matter - later, Fazbear Ent hears the demand for more Foxy and decide to go with it. They get rid of the pirate Foxy Daycare Attendant for now, so they can start working on his remodel, but they keep the Kid's Cove theme because the kids adore it and they.. don't really know how to retheme it to Sun and Moon, I guess? Maybe they just don't want to completely remove Foxy so the interest in the character stays high. Regardless, the actual Foxy in the Daycare is gone and replaced with the current Attendant. Then they shift focus to the redesign - instead of a pirate, he'll be a cowboy to better suit Roxy's area. It's easier for them to share and retcon in that they've been friends/related/whatever they'd go with all along than it is to start a bigger pirate area from scratch. They start work on the ride and the Saloon, the cowboy Foxy design is finalized enough that it can be used internally, but it's not quite ready for merch yet. Then it's like you said - something went wrong that stopped construction. Whether it's the sinkhole, the staffbots, corporate nonsense, the Pizzaplex closing, whatever, something stopped everything in its tracks before cowboy Foxy could be finished.
I think the superstar daycare was originally kids cove, since the “banned!” Doors geographically would lead into there. Kids cove was a pirate themed area, which it somewhat is, but it’s more a mix between pirate and fairytale theming. then sun/moon, originally the fazbear theater’s performer animatronic became more popular than Foxy. Fazbear Entertainment was weary about outright replacing foxy and the pirate theme, so they did their inbetweeny retheme, turning kids cove into superstar daycare. The Kids Cove sublobby (where the foxy statue is ingame) stayed more or less the same. A few months later they got into the process of building the foxy log flume, and we’re almost finished with that until the sinkhole in security breach delayed construction, which would never get finished since after security breach the entire pizzaplex was left abandoned
was Foxy and Roxy meant to be a thing like Mickey and Minnie or Donald and Daisy, you know names that work together like from a marketing standpoint. it would also make sense why they are similar in appearance and kinda similar species, and why they would be right next each other with a similar thrill seeking ride.

I think Foxy was from another chain in the way that Chica originally came from Chica's Party Place (could be misremembering the name) He's the only animatronic we know that has a costume or a theme but is solo. I bet he originally came from a pirate themed location. That would also be why he wasnt originally in the pizzaplex.

The idea that Foxy was a future plan also makes sense with all the construction STAFF Bots around. That suggests the construction was a recent thing, not some old abandoned thing from the Pizzaplex's early days.
I do think Roxy was supposed to be the Pizzaplex's Foxy when it opened (similar name, similar animal, same eyes, lack of any Glamrock Foxy mentions ever), but that doesn't mean that Fazbear couldn't go back on that later on and retroactively fit the old Foxy in when they realized he was popular enough. "What do you mean we have a Foxy already in Roxy? Nah they're uhh they're cousins! Yeah that's it, they're just cousins but he moved away a while ago." or something.
That actually reminds me of a POPGOES lore bit, where a pirate themed Freddy's location had Foxy in a cove alongside a "cameo" character exclusive to this location, being Cody the Coyote. Despite being different species, they are both pirates and cousins to an extent.

I agree that there was never a Glamrock Foxy and that they were almost ready to unveil a Foxy area set alongside Roxy's raceway, it just makes too much sense. There was WAY too much construction far away from the sinkhole. Considering Fazbear Entertainment's love of money it could be as simple as they made one or more Foxy-centered animated movies (we see the poster for at least one of them in the main game) that got really popular and they decided to capitalize on it. Like you said, they probably dipped their toe in with the Kid's Cove to see how it would do and it was very successful. It helps explain the western theme existing alongside his normal pirate theme if they were theming different areas of his section on these different movies. That would also explain why he's normal Foxy instead of a Glamrock if they want the branding to be consistent with those movies.

I prefer this theory than that of Roxy replacing Foxy. This whole story of animatronics being scrapped and replaced by new ones is already something we’ve seen in the Pizzaplex after all. With Glamrock Bonnie and Monty. Sure Bonnie wasn’t really scrapped and Monty was already around when the main band was but still, Monty did replace Bonnie as the base player and he went missing. So to see a different story where Fazbear just wanted to add more diversity to their animatronic characters and bring in Foxy is alongside Roxy is neat.
However, this still begs the question: who really was the original daycare attendant if Foxy was never there to begin with? Maybe it’s Mr Hippo and they repurposed him to be in the band when Freddy leaves? Idk. Maybe it was another new character. We’re gonna have to wait till the next book or game or dlc to get more information on that.

In the base game, I always thought it was weird that there was an extra endo just standing there in Parts n Service. Back then I thought maybe it was Bonnie's endo, but now that we found Bonnie it can't be. Maybe that was going to be Glamrock Foxy they just didn't have a shell ready yet.

God this makes me wish that a Foxy animatronic was in storage somewhere during the Ruin DLC, for Cassie to stumble across, accidentally activate, and be part of the story/gameplay from then on, whether as a fully functional non-ruined enemy, or more of a Roxy/Freddy friendly animatronic. It would have been an amazing reveal, hearing a classic pirate ‘YARRR’ and having him emerge from the dark, especially if Steelwool had managed to keep it quiet. Or better yet if he sang his classic ‘dum dum de dum’ tune from FNAF 1 before stalking into view, would’ve hit right in the nostalgia, especially for the og fans
Just wanted to say that I really appreciate the structure of your videos! I think an issue some theory channels face is finding the balance between being convincing of a theory and reminding the audience that it's really just speculation causing some people to react badly if either is out of balance. But you do this really well!
The ‘beer cave’ theory is also supported by Chuck E Cheese/Shiwbiz Pizza deciding between their lead mascots during the early 90s rebranding move (childhood trauma unlocked: Billy Bob Was My Favorite). Feels reasonable that Fazbear Entertainment would attempt similar.

Nice theory ! I personnaly prefer the idea of Foxy being the original DayCare Attendant. It would kind of make sense. I mean, Mangle (or Toy Foxy to be precise) was made to take care of toddlers. If (s)he had not be so fragile, Toy Foxy's role would have basically the one of a DayCare Attendant. And even OG Foxy was in a sense. We do not know what he was doing in the Pirate Cove for sure, but he had a stage so he must have been some kind of storyteller (no pun intended) for kids to listen? Similarly to the theater attraction in the Daycare.
Fazbear like to keep their bots' roles "consistent". Gl.Freddy is the singer... Like all Freddys. Gl.Bonnie was the bassist... Like all Bonnies. Gl.Chica is food-themed... Like all Chicas. So it would make sense for Foxy to be "in charge of the kids" like the line was always meant to be.
And even if I understand whant make people think of Roxanne being "Gl.Foxy", it would just make more sense for the line to keep its "role" instead of being switch to a band member, while no other Foxy ever was in the band to begin with.

As we saw with Monty and Mr. Hippo the animatronics don't start out glamrock, they get promoted to it.
It would not surprise me if Foxy does not get promoted to glamrock but instead stays "on a different stage" with his area. That would allow him to do his cowboy/pirate/captain theme instead of trying to mash glamrock and pirate.
It could also be that in getting reworked from a daycare attendant and getting his "attraction" he was temporarily retired and it's been enough time that "Foxy will be back with his Flume ride" is a standard response. Either that or "Foxy is busy being a movie star right now". Especially since in Captain Foxy's Pirate Adventure Freddy, Bonnie and Chica are their older designs, not their glamrock glowups.
The obly problem I have with this theory is the fact that Foxy has two distinctly different themes at the pizzaplex. One is the expected pirate theming, but the other is a...Cowboy? Yeah. Why? It doesn't make sense. I don't understand why they did that.

It seems to me that Fazbear Entertainment has a Wild West-themed series (be it television, or comics or what-have-you), as there was also a Wild West-themed Chica standee (8:25). So, perhaps Foxy was just made into a cowboy in that series, and it was popular enough to theme an area of the Pizzaplex around it.
Another piece of evidence for your Foxy was the day-care attendants: it's a job that's been given to Foxy before. Mangle(officially Toy Foxy) was in Kids' Cove, meant to keep the younger kids busy. They became the Mangle because kids kept ripping them apart and putting them back together.
Seeing how he is still present in the theater and had his own little area I think it was more so a creative choice by fazbear to leave foxy as a rough and tough scourge of the seas while filling the “foxy slot” with something that’s close enough to a foxy

I think that Foxy being actively added makes a good deal of sense, he wouldn't be a glamrock, he'd be his original self as his own act, like how DJ Music Man is and Monty was. I like to think that the idea to bring back Foxy came up after Bonnie got replaced by Monty; they wanted a backup plan for if/when another animatronic got decommissioned like Bonnie.
I always saw it as Fazbear entertainment wanting to make something more modern in Roxt but still wanting something with Foxy since he still had a following,especially considering by the time of FNAF 3 people were cosplaying as the animatronics.

With how Roxy appears in In Space 2 with the OG 4, I was tempted to think she'd join Freddy, Bonnie and Chica onstage while Foxy remained a separate side act on his own little stage ...minus FNAF 6 probably if you're choice Rockstar layout pits Lefty on the small side stage with the main having the other 4 arranged like that office drawing.
So Foxy would've been more a side character like Monty was while Chica, Freddy, Roxy and Bonnie took the stage. If graphic novels of Tales come out in a couple years, I'd be super interested if the backgrounds were of a Pizzaplex that still had Bonnie (even if they may be less accurate if Scott is letting the artists do their own thing).
But since we're talking old Glamrock band, let me turn back to Bonnie and Chica:
I don't dislike his design revealed in Ruin, but a couple things: we've long believed he had claws, based on the Monty messages, though his model's fingers sport no nails. And his color: this bunny's blue may be paler than Toy Bonnie, but the bowling signage, still appearing in Ruin, has him a classic indigo. And no Glamrock accessories like the bangles, shoulder pads and face paint like the other Glamrocks in pretty all around the building. Not counting the HW toys and On Tour art.
I actually question how involved Scott was with Ruin; I've seen no words directly from him on it. Did they have that pale blue Glamrock when developing the base game? The Glamrock Bonnie in In Space 3 is especially clashing to Ruin's compared to Roxy and Chica. Is this what Scott imagined for his colors?
The most they deviated in base would be Monty without sunglasses, Roxy in a jacket, and Mermaid Chica. And with that dress cutout fitting the criteria with lacking bangles, let's transition to her...
Storyteller describes her more like Classic Chica - bib, yellow and Cupcake, while Roxy, Monty and Glamrock Freddy were dead on to their models. I almost wondered if, concerning what you said on the Pizzaplex having a more Classic looking cast, their instruments would've been too. Chica singing with Freddy while Bonnie played guitar. But upon the voicebox experiment, she was restricted from singing, took on the guitar, and Bonnie was given a bass. However unlike Bonnie Bowl art, we've no signs of a yellow Chica like that. If she changed to white in the books, it'd probably be after Bonnie's removal as Monty is in Storyteller, but the Ruin exclusive cutouts in the Chpt 3 ride and that dress one have her white. Ixd even argue Storytellers Chica to be a different bot altogether, or at least the virus infection thing is different, as while that corrupted Chica was more craving attention than food, SB'S white bird still retained the appetite and got distracted with it. Perhaps if it was a replacement, it could tie to the scrapped bird in the sewers in Bobbiedots. Like Monty Within, they didn't specify that one being yellow or white.
Maybe Glamrock Chica was originally yellow, but for some reason she got repainted to be white.

Cool video. I definitely think the lore implications of Foxy's positioning and role in both games is fascinating. Great look at the evidence here - good spot with the plushes. I like your in-canon explanation for Foxy's scattered appearance across the pizzaplex. Sounds pretty plausible to me, although I think there are lots of ways you could interpret it.

Building off the idea of foxy as the original daycare attendant. My idea on why he had to be replaced is what if he fell to the same fate as Toy Foxy, or more properly, Mangle.
So this is something I pointed out on your old where is foxy and bonnie video after ruin was released, super cool to see you agree with it, at lest in part! Both about where Foxy was, and Foxy vs Roxy thing and how it may have been a corporate move to modernize and gain new fans (with Roxy filling the part) and leaving it open for later expansion (with fan favorite Foxy) when traffic may have slown down, like a theme park does to incentivize new guests as well as get people to return.

I thought you were right about Foxy being upcoming addition, rather than testing the waters for him I think it was a planned future expansion. Think about it. They already knew he was popular, they have memorabilia of him everywhere, and his own small area. Not to mention there's Foxy plushies everywhere. But what's the biggest way people get people to pay for something they've done already? Add something new that a big enough draw to go again. Something like adding a whole new attraction themed on an extremely popular character, who's already known for being a separate thing from the rest of the band anyways, using his own stage in his own separate part of the restaurant.
Fazbear while planning their new massive space knows Foxy is a super popular character that would draw a lot of attention to the new pizzaplex. But why not save him as a special addition for when the original hype was slowing down or any dip in attendance happened?
In the meantime, create a new character very similar in design to hope it can leach off the popularity of the character, especially when the favorite in question is missing. Modernize it so it holds attention till older ages since kids grow out of pirates (and cowboys) at a younger age. Remember that it's known how girls tend to have higher interest in other female characters, meanwhile you currently only have one (no one ever wants to talk about the Baby character as an animatronic for some reason), so make the cloned character a girl to make the market bigger. Have her like hair stuff, so you can sell beauty product lines, and you can charge a lot for themed makeover looks and outfits too. But you don't want her to be too distanced from boys, especially the Foxy fans. So make her like something cool, like cars and racing. But something for the girls still too, so give her something girlie we can charge more for, like makeovers. (or it could have been two teams, one a modern Foxy clone and one a new female character, and then combined them, as another team works on making a more antagonistic character, aka Monty) And boom, you have Roxy, who will help tide over Foxy fans annoyed he isn't there on their first visit, and may bring new fans in by having more female choices.
Meanwhile, after a lot of people have had their one big and expensive trip (or have used their year long passes to bowl and golf as much as they can stand), you expand, to draw people back for another visit, and revitalize the ones who you had already hooked. And doing it with an extremely popular character is the best way to do so. A new Foxy attraction would be more than enough to get fans to come back, but then (as we now know) make it a high energy log flume when so far there had only been a few rides among the attractions. That makes it a draw even for those that may not care about Foxy. You can also get away with a large additional ticket for the area, making it beneficial financially.
You give them a taste of what they want, by having Foxy around. The cutouts, the play area. Reassure people he's not forgotten or replaced. And then later give them a welcome surprise that will make them grateful and happy for the new addition.
The prize counter area being so empty could have also been prepping for this phase two as well, with plans to add the Puppet, who has less fans than others but ones that are very dedicated. A line of plushies and a few arcade machines proved positive feedback.
(Or steel wool just ran out of time to do more in the area)
Anyways thats my thinking, that they'd be smart enough to know that Foxy is in demand, and just waiting to expand the pizzaplex to draw more traffic.
Also I think it's really interesting how no one thinks of Roxy as some replacement usurper the way they do with Monty and Bonnie, when Roxy is a more one to one replacement, and there's more about Monty and Bonnie existing at the same time rather than the seeming complete re skin replacement Roxy functionally is in game.
Also I never understood the assumption people made that Roxy Raceway was a replacement for the log flume and was on top of it? I may have only watched rather than physically played ruin, but it seemed to be clearly next to Roxy's area rather than on top of it
That thing about Sheetz i remember all too week lol. We had one of the "test" stores that had beer but you couldn't pay for gas same transaction. Then i saw every other Sheetz have them. Was not just them, a lot of grocery stores made a "beer garden" area all of a sudden.
What if early on, Roxy was originally designed to be a love interest for foxy like a Daisy Duck to Donald Duck situation? That could help explain why she has the self esteem issues that she does; if she was originally designed to be the partner for a character that was never actually added. It could make her feeling incomplete.

With the Freddy cartoons they released leading to the release of Security Breach I kinda assumed that foxy was getting reskinned or replaced in some way since every cartoon played out with Foxy getting "unmasked" to be an endoskeleton. But they obviously never touched on that in the actual game lol

My theory is this. The owner of the pizzaplex had already started building the 4 main animatronics before they decided on the theme of the pizzaplex. When they decided on glamrock, they realized they couldnt use foxy because glamrock pirate doesnt really work. But instead of scraping the foxy endoskeleton that was being built, they simply invented a similarly shaped character without the pirate theme to use the endo. Hence roxy, a character in the place of foxy whos only really point of similarity with him is body shape

My theory with Roxy is based around her personality and behavior:
1. Need for speed
2. Narcissistic and attention seeking
3. Plays favorites and remembers things about the people who give her the most attention
In my opinion these traits most closely match those of some DOG breeds and I've heard some theories that Mangle -- a former fun-time Foxy -- had the soul of Susie's (Chica) dog inside of it. My play here is that Roxy -- who is obsessed with cars, loves attention and as seen in Ruin is drawn to Cassie, a young girl -- is a repurposed Mangle, rebuilt from her funtime Foxy specs and re-painted and upgraded with a more anthropomorphic form.
Just my theory and opinion. I know MatPat is theorizing that Steel Wool and Scott are pivoting toward the A.I. angle to put the whole "LITERAL ghost in the machine" idea in the past which makes my idea...kind of irrelevant? But I think its a fun and...kind of sad concept as well.

Plus the Roxy raceway set dressing is a desert-y thing. I don’t know geography. But point is it’s themed in a way that Wild West stuff could be pretty easily added, in a way you couldn’t if it were like. A stadium. Or city streets. Or space or something.
tbh the "made sure the lights never went off" sounds like a quick-fix made on the go to cover something so it feels actually like a fitting puzzle piece to the theory.
Something happened to the original daycare attendant (Foxy) so the light thingy feels quick, unnatural, not intended.
EDIT: I got an afterthought. So, bear with me. What if Foxy was only Foxy and as an attendant but he was so popular with kids they wanted to make him into glamrock, they took the OG Foxy from daycare to get him reprogrammed, it was almost done, his area was almost ready and... the Gregory and the earthquake happened... now call me crazy, but if pizzaplex would get another game after the one we are getting (since we are revisiting old place, so I think there is possibility for revisiting the pizzaplex... I mean cmon! The blob is still there, we need to make sure Cassie is out... one way or another... we WILL come back there at some point) we WILL have Foxy in that story.
Also for the marketing purposes, people were asking "where's bonnie?" seeing his bowling zone in SB, now we have gotten to see too many Foxy themed things.
I just always assumed that since Foxy had his own movie where he's clearly the main character, Faz ent was trying to separate him slowly from the gang and make him his own thing, or make some kind of spin off or sister location restaurant. They're treating him like El Chip in the sense that he's his own thing, but because the Pizzaplex shows off what properties Faz ent owns (kinda like Disneyland), he still makes small appearances here and there but wasn't ever considered as a main character due to execs wanting to push him as his own thing.
This is more speculation and fan fiction-y but with the way Foxy's being promoted in the pizzaplex, they're probably trying to test the waters for how a Foxy themed restaurant would stand in its own. Again with the Disney parks comparison, they have different parks with different experiences in different places. With the way Faz ent has seemed to of bounced back from their horrible PR nightmare that William created, they seem to have become a huge corporate conglomerate, and making another mall or restaurant or whatever themed around Foxy seems like the next logical step for them.
what about if Fazbear Ent. was doing the same kinda beer/soda cave thing with Roxy? Using Roxy to see if people wanted Foxy.
Here’s a thought I had, the base game of security breach take place in one night, and ruin probably does the same, so what if we get 3 more dlc’s that take place in one night with a new character making it technically five nights with new things in each dlc.
How come some spirits (Charlie,Elizabeth,William,Crying Child and,if you’re right,Cassie’s dad) can possess suits on their own but others (MCI,maybe DCI if they actually possessed the toys and,if you’re right,the other staff of the Pizzaplex) need help? Also,I suspect Elizabeth has,for some reason,a stronger soul than other people which is why she can change Baby’s eye colour when nobody else changes their animatronic’s eye colours. Thirdly,Michael was stuck inside the springlock suit in SL for 18 hours and Baby says his heart beat and breathing are setting off the spring locks so how the hell is he not dead?

Here is an interesting theory. What if all of this was sort of a teaser for a special event at the Pizzaplex, that was supposed to feature Foxy. And due to the Pizzaplex closing down or turning into the Ruined area we see in Ruin, it was never made into a real thing. Glamrock Foxy was planned by Fazbear entertainment to be added and have his own area, but wasn't able to be made and become official, because of all the incidents and the loss of Glamrock Bonnie. This could have also been a fear, as since Monty was the one who replaced Bonnie, they feared that if Foxy existed, it would make Roxanne Wolf Jealous. It could have also been a premiere for a Fazbear animated Movie, so as to keep Foxy alive. Looking at the posters you see, it does look like a Movie Poster you'd see at the movies, so it's possible that is what Foxy had. He was planned for a in-universe fazbear cartoon movie, that depending on it's success, popularity, and how much it made people at the pizzaplex want Foxy, they would add Foxy as an animatronic who would have his own area. He wouldn't need to be part of the main 4, but he'd have his own area, and maybe even have his own merchandise.
@RyeToast Given the minimal letter differences between Foxy & Roxy and Saloon & Salon, not to mention the similarity in archetypal & design aspects between them both; Fazbear Entertainment may very well have reused the existing Foxy exo and area to make a different character.
It very plausable that a company would attempt to reuse existing assets, at minimal additional cost, to make a less dangerous attraction and a new Character for their more feminine patrons.
Chicka being the only main female animatronic Character doesn't exactly work in the Salon or active lifestyle setting/context.
By the time of the Pizza Plex's setting, it would be reasonable to assume there would be greater demand for more feminine representation in activities and Characters.
My guess would be that they first attempted to re-brand Foxy as a Cowboy, though were met with failure in market testing. To add salt to the wound, Foxy's log ride was likely deemed too much of an insurance liability compared to the raceway.
So, making the Captain Foxy story gives them an out as far as where Foxy is; Foxy became a Space Pirate, while the Kids Cove area tells the story of how he became a longshorman prior to setting off for space.
Which happens to be where the Sun and Moon are, relative to the Earth.
Meanwhile, Fazbear can scrap the Saloon and replace it with a Salon just by dropping an O. Foxy can become Roxy by altering the F into an R with little effort due to the similar structure of both letters.
This way they can make a new Feminine Character, one more suited to "Girly stuff" while also having a more universal, if not slanted toward Masculine, attraction in the form of her Raceway.
Chika is more of a Domestic Archetype, associated with cooking & consumption. They would have needed a new Feminine character to bridge the gap to achieve a more Independent & Carefree Archetype.
It's also quite likely the Longshorman version of Foxy use to be the original daycare attendant with Sun & Moon being more of a security & child safety exo; Essentially having Foxy being the caring and empathetic programed Exo while Sun & Moon ensured people who weren't authorised to remove the a child couldn't. A more focused and localised security exo that specialised in abduction prevention of the younger children's area.
With the business pivot towards additional staff bots and a need for a new feminine character, it would make sense to reuse the existing daycare Foxy Exo as the basis for the new character. As they could just reprogram the Sun & Moon exo to be the daycare attendant and explain Foxy's absence by making a story that he went to Space.
Allowing them to cut costs, easily reuse existing assets and cater to a broader feminine demographic simultaneously.
The fact Roxy remembers the protagonist's birthday and showed her a significant level of empathy also seemingly implies that much of the Daycare programing remained in Roxy's system.
A trait that the other animatronics don't seem to exibit to the same degree as Roxy. Which would also help accelerate her popularity to be on par among the other already beloved Characters.
Contrast this with the more recent addition to the band, whom replaced a beloved Bonnie, and their popularity pales in comparison to the reception of the addition of Roxy.
But ofcourse, Bonnies replacement was less planned out and more done to quickly make up for the sudden loss of Bonnies Animatronic.
So the public perception and hastily put together story line for the replacement was never hoing to be as positive as the introduction of Roxy & phasing out of Foxy.
Which, if it were the case, seems far more well thought out and done more in responce to a failed attempt to re-brand Foxy as a cowboy.
It's quite likely they did finish most of the Log ride and part of the Saloon before realising the issue with the Sinkhole and getting any market testing results in re-branding Foxy as a cowboy.
With those two major issues and likely getting feedback of a lack of diverse feminine respresentation; They would choose to cut costs and reuse what they can while making a story for Foxy's absence and Roxy's inclusion.
Make part of the Saloon into a Salon and make a cost effective attaction with legal liability issues.
From there they would needbto be constantly fixing/reinforcing the floor near the sinkhole area.
So best to store and make use of the construction materials & equipment in the old log ride and rest of the Saloon area, which would also give them better access to the area under the Salon and Raceway to carry this ongoing task out.
Clearly, after the All Staff meeting this maintenance was not well kept or done by the Staffbots. They likely got confused with their assigned task and attempted to maintain the log ride as well as attending the maintenance of the support structure's for the Raceway. Divided attentions and log ride "Testing" during this may have led to an unsustainable attrition of lost Staffbots to maintain the supports.
Well, there seems to be some holes here. For one, your interpretation of how the Daycare Attendant functions doesn't seem to match up with their backstory from TFTP. The technicians struggled to reprogram them, so I don't see them having such special functionalities.
And why would management consider rebranding Foxy? Did kids not like pirates anymore? (he's a cowboy _pirate_ in the DLC, so the whole premise kinda falls apart) If pirates are no longer popular, then why's he still present throughout the Pizzaplex as cutouts and posters?
And there's a lot of endos lying around, so why use Foxy to make Roxy? They're miles apart from each other in terms of personality, so I'd imagine that reprogramming Foxy to Roxy would be such a hassle, so they might as well start over. Ngl, I'm definitely pulling this part out of my butt because I despise the idea that Foxy became Roxy. Especially when there's no such indication at all from the game, not even from a single message log. Why can't she just be an addition to the band? Why does she have to be related to him in some way just for having a similar name (well, nickname) and animal species?
Foxy has always been the most characterized of the four animatronics, so I just can't see Scott and SWS just throwing all that away, y'know? Which is why I think he still exists as a character in the Pizzaplex, just not as an animatronic. People not liking pirates anymore is unfathomable, because they always embody freedom and adventure in media. I don't think anyone in their right mind would think that pirates will be seen as uncool in some future. I can't see Scott and SWS just thinking that.

I like this. It's a neat and tidy explanation. Given the state of construction, and the announcement at the start of SB that the Pizzaplex is going to be closed for a couple days for maintenance, make me think that the entire Roxy and Foxy section was meant to be completed during that time, were it not for the events of Security Breach throwing a wrench into that time table.
Then again, while I don't know how you fix things if you've built your building over a giant freaking cave, I doubt it's an issue that can be resolved in just a few days, hahaha.
I will say, I don’t think the presence of other Foxy Variants is great “Roxy isn’t Foxy” evidence since we also see plenty of Freddy and Chica Variants.

I'm surprised no one yet talk about the enviromental story in the log ride area. I believe that tell what happened to Foxy and why the ride was cancelled. But none of the big theorists I ever watched talk about it. Maybe I'm wrong and I can't play the game to check for myself.
As someone who loves the concept and idea funtime foxy and mangle are based off the same updated model version of foxy but are different characters

I strongly stick to the- albeit basic but perfectly reasonable explanation of- roxy nekng the fill-in for foxy, the way monty was the fill-in for bonnie. Roxy's salon being desert themed and located right next to foxys area could've just been like, something happened to foxy while his area was still under construction and they had to replace him midway, so they used the remaining space of that area for the new mascot Roxy.
The daycare attendant foxy thing is really interesying too though, i mean look at the way the daycare itself is even constructed! Lots of places to climb, a sea of plastic balls, that giant ledge that sun jumps off at the beginning. Seems very attuned for somebody who likes to swashbuckle.

I know that people have been saying "i feel sorry for casual fans who dont understand fnaf lore but want to", but i have been following the franchise since beginning, though only actually started to try to understand lore/theorize since last year. My pov is basically: I have a incomplete timeline in mind that has some HUGE plotholes that idk what to do with lol. Overall, i'm not as confused as theorists think people like me are. It will just take us a while, just like it took y'all so many years xD.

Unless they were going to replace his hook with a drum stick and put him on drums, his pirate-theme outfit doesn’t fit a rock band; him being added as like a side attraction with a Concertina doing sea shanties makes more sense. I do agree that Foxy was never there since I have seen some other theorists say there was an accident and Foxy was being fixed, yet never saw him in SB or Ruin, meaning his animatronic was never built (or Steel Wool will do another DLC and add it in lol).

When the Pizzaplex first opened, the Glamrocks were new designs, everything was riding on how the public took them - so they think "man, we shouldn't leave Chica as the Token Girl ™, let's replace someone." They couldn't get rid of Freddy, obviously, he's the face of the franchise, and Bonnie's been around just as long. Replacing Chica would be counterproductive. Foxy had to take the blow. But they didn't want to anger his old fans either, so they didn't want to completely erase him and put him as the Daycare Attendant. Little kids get to be comforted by a character they're already familiar with, and it appeals to parents' nostalgia for the character, so he doesn't get a real redesign as a Glamrock either.
Later on, whether because of Monty's success as a new character or because people were mad two new characters were present when a classic had very little attention given to him, the specifics there don't matter - later, Fazbear Ent hears the demand for more Foxy and decide to go with it. They get rid of the pirate Foxy Daycare Attendant for now, so they can start working on his remodel, but they keep the Kid's Cove theme because the kids adore it and they.. don't really know how to retheme it to Sun and Moon, I guess? Maybe they just don't want to completely remove Foxy so the interest in the character stays high. Regardless, the actual Foxy in the Daycare is gone and replaced with the current Attendant.
Then they shift focus to the redesign - instead of a pirate, he'll be a cowboy to better suit Roxy's area. It's easier for them to share and retcon in that they've been friends/related/whatever they'd go with all along than it is to start a bigger pirate area from scratch. They start work on the ride and the Saloon, the cowboy Foxy design is finalized enough that it can be used internally, but it's not quite ready for merch yet. Then it's like you said - something went wrong that stopped construction. Whether it's the sinkhole, the staffbots, corporate nonsense, the Pizzaplex closing, whatever, something stopped everything in its tracks before cowboy Foxy could be finished.
I think the superstar daycare was originally kids cove, since the “banned!” Doors geographically would lead into there. Kids cove was a pirate themed area, which it somewhat is, but it’s more a mix between pirate and fairytale theming. then sun/moon, originally the fazbear theater’s performer animatronic became more popular than Foxy. Fazbear Entertainment was weary about outright replacing foxy and the pirate theme, so they did their inbetweeny retheme, turning kids cove into superstar daycare. The Kids Cove sublobby (where the foxy statue is ingame) stayed more or less the same.
A few months later they got into the process of building the foxy log flume, and we’re almost finished with that until the sinkhole in security breach delayed construction, which would never get finished since after security breach the entire pizzaplex was left abandoned

was Foxy and Roxy meant to be a thing like Mickey and Minnie or Donald and Daisy, you know names that work together like from a marketing standpoint.
it would also make sense why they are similar in appearance and kinda similar species, and why they would be right next each other with a similar thrill seeking ride.

I think Foxy was from another chain in the way that Chica originally came from Chica's Party Place (could be misremembering the name)
He's the only animatronic we know that has a costume or a theme but is solo. I bet he originally came from a pirate themed location. That would also be why he wasnt originally in the pizzaplex.
