Up Next- Why Athletes Are Shocking Their Brains: • Top Athletes are Shock...
“Keep your eye on the ball” is taking on a whole new meaning, as more and more professional athletes are beginning to incorporate eye tracking technology into their training sessions.
With Fixation’s eye tracking software, athletes can now monitor, analyze, and train their eye movements to improve their average reaction time.
The gaze tracking glasses use infrared light to detect movement. Next, the data is analyzed to identify the athlete’s visual strengths and weaknesses.
Once the movements are understood, the trainer can form personalized strategies that effectively reduce their reaction speed.

Do you think this technology gives people an unfair advantage?

Technology is people. So no, the technology evolves as we do. No advantage, just intelligence.

It's a good point - we always have used tools to improve our abilities, and computers and electronics are the key tools of the modern era.

Sport professionals trained in 1st world countries have an "unfair" advantage compare to other countries? Yes , probably. Better nutrition, better shoes, better recovery technics, better health professionals, better economical conditions... 😏

When training, we use all sorts of tools to improve for the final test, so I don't see this as an unfair advantage. As long as it's not used in serious matches without the opposing team knowing or agreeing to it.
That being said, I do think it will help, but by how much is a mystery.
From my understanding, the reason why professionals in any dexterous activity have more efficient eye movements is because they are skillful enough to focus on less things. For example, a pianist will not need to constantly focus on what every finger is doing and on what key they are in. They built the muscle memory to be able to know subconsciously, which allows them to focus on other elements that are not perfectly subconscious and to occasionally reorient themselves.
This means that a beginner should not totally copy a professional's eye movements as they are not ready for that yet, BUT they should understand what a professional's eyes are focusing on for what to expect in the long term.
