I remember in the 2011 world cup , Sachin was out lbw against ajmal but on taking DRS he was judged not out.... I think this singular point in history changed BCCI'S stance against DRS.
Whenever people talk of Hawkeye, I remember Sachin Tendulkar's Desert Storm innings of 1998. In the first one, he was given out caught behind on 143 when the ball was clearly way above shoulder height and should've been called a no-ball. But the second one. That is one of the worst decisions in cricket history. Sachin was on 134 and winning the match for India when he was given LBW for a ball that pitched outside leg and hit him outside off above the wicket. Watch the replay, it's staggering. I honestly feel that was match-fixing and the umpire had been told to give Sachin out as soon as possible.
Would love to see a video digging deeper into Virtual Eye as well. Always baffles me that there could be two different methodologies used in the same sport for such big decisions.
I've wanted to get rid of umpires for a long time now. they're simply not necessary anymore not to mention that they are at a very real risk of being severely injured or killed

While other countries in the world are improving the state of art technologies in cricket. BCCI is only focused on minting money, they are investmenting literally 0 in innovation. They are only there to churn out money, when was the last time you heard a something worthwhile coming up from India
So we have Hawk Eye and Eagle Eye. Maybe the 360 degree viewing angles, where the same ball is shown from multiple angles using multi camera setup and augmented reality, maybe that should be renamed to Owl Eye?
Hawk-Eye has a problem of survivorship bias. People don't look at it or even pretend it's there when it silently does it's job but any howlers get extreme attention leading to mass dislike for it. But nobody would say that HawkEye with DRS hasn't improved the overall quality of the game, but cricket is still a sports which actually uses unproven and misleading camera evidence to judge calls and boundaries which is hilarious. A lot more work to be done to fully allow a complete field of vision on the field for the TV umps.
Can you analyse the jasprit bumrah,s full bowling action i mean his laverage arm hip shoulder separation, his short run-up, and how much lateral flexion in his body about his back injurys all

Who was the umpire who gave Paul Hawkins out lbw. He is the true creator. If he had said not out maybe Hawkins would have gone on to make a decent score and never thought of this again
The elephant in the room for me is the actual technology itself. Everybody just assumes it's infallible. But how can a system account for all the variables accurately in a game like cricket? Countless variations in: recording distance, equipment, temperature, humidity, ball degradation, pitch levelness, pitch wear, friction of different surfaces (grasses), action on the ball, pitch dampness or dryness (to name just some), suggests to me there is some unacceptable level of mathematical prediction going on here. In sports like baseball or tennis it’s far simpler surely to determine an accurate track of the ball. Their surfaces are consistent and there is a lengthy flight of the ball. In the case of baseball the ball doesn't hit the deck at all. But crucially in cricket the ball bounces off an uneven and changing surface. How can an outcome be guaranteed with all that uncertainty? Granted, umpires are not perfect either but at least they are aware, at close range, of the fluctuating conditions and see the changing behaviour of the pitch and ball and factor that into their decisions. Can DRS do that?
The name seemed familiar to me strangely, and it was because Steve O'Shaughnessy briefly held the record for the fastest FC century, remarkably. (It was rescinded due to the contrived circumstances of the match).
@@JPH1138 As well as winning the Walter Lawrence Trophy for his 35 ball effort, I believe he contributed to another with some right arm Desmond's. Which is why one queries the designation. But still, with GBAD still an uncertain military discipline, it is a wonder the technology is accepted as accurate at all.

And if I recall correctly, one series in Australia with plenty of controversial decisions that made bcci to change their direction towards DRS
