  • The DT Edition Mini JCW is a Handling, Styling and Noise package you can add to any new Mini JCW ordered through Bimmerdeals. Could this collaboration between Bimmerdeals, Deutsch Tech and Luxewerks give the Mini JCW the big thing the GP3 doesn't...a manual gearbox ?
I got to put this car through its paces at Bruntingthorpe Proving Ground and was hugely impressed by how it handled and it's ride comfort.
The DT Edition Package will be priced at £2250 (£3000 RRP including fitting and labour), and can be attached to any brand new MINI JCW ordered through Bimmerdeals (Instagram @bimmerdeals) and will consist of the following parts...
    Handling
    - 30mm Eibach Lowering Springs (Front and Back)
    - 15mm TPI Spacers (Front and Back)
    - 4 Wheel KDS Laser Wheel Alignment and Tracking
    - Ultra Racing Front Strut Brace
    Sound
    - Custom DeutschTech Rear Exhaust (OPF Back)
    Styling
    - AC Schnitzer Front Splitter
    - DT Edition Gel Boot Badge
    - Bonnet Scoop Black Out Decal Individually Numbered (DT Edition 001 onwards)
    - LuxeWerx Beltline Black Out Decal Pack
    - LuxeWerx Valve Caps
    - LuxeWerx Gloss Black V2 Front Bumper Decal and Gloss Black Side Scuttle Decal
    - LuxeWerx Air Fresheners and Classic Red Jet Tag
    Transportation
    - Covered Transportation between Berry MINI Heathrow and DeutschTech by Veloce Vehicle Transportation (VVT)
    Paint Protection
    - @Stjarnagloss will also be supplying an Essential Detailing Kit free of charge with each order (RRP £35)
The Headline Offer for this vehicle is £2250 Deposit - £299 Per Month (48 Month PCP covering 8000 Miles Per Annum) - This price is based on the Base Specification Car (as DT Edition 001 looks from an exterior point of view).

Hi Ped. Loving your content. Not being an owner of a mini, I've heard a lot of people say the pedals are offset in the mini. You obviously seem to cope ok?

    • @prof.d.red-maa
      @prof.d.red-maa 4 ปีที่แล้ว

martin ambrose The pedals in my old Renaultsport Clio 182 Trophy were offset, at first it bugged the heck out of me but, I got used to it pretty quickly and stopped noticing it at all shortly after that... Unless you're very tall and have really long legs (As my 6.4ft brother discovered..) and then, on long runs you'll get leg cramps and hip ache on the outer side leg to the offset. But, other than that, that Clio was without question THE best handling hot hatch ever made,.. and still is!
If handling is the most important factor of a car to you and you can find a tidy example,.. then I seriously recommend picking one up, you won't be disappointed... it's a real sleeper car. On the three occasions I took it to the Nurberg, it ate £100K machinery around two thirds of the circuit for breakfast, day after day in stock form (minus quick removables like rear parcel shelf, passenger head supports & floor mats.).
I owned the Cup 182 & the later model Cup 200 versions too which, though being a bit spartan on the interiors (less so on the 200) were still both awesome drives punching WELL above their weight on the ring,.. but the Trophy, with its reservoir dampers, LSD and exceptional set of brakes.. was just pure magic!

martin ambrose No problem mate! Sorry about the length of my post,.. I'm a proper petrol head, minutes can turn into hours and not even be noticed, I'd happily nag away for hours about cars if I get the chance or rather, if I didn't have a wife to go,.. "Do you realise just how long you've blabbing on about cars?!.. Come on, you're going to be late for..!", tends to be heard by my ears at some point during the week (LOL), especially if I've managed to find a bit of spare time after work for myself and decide to chat with some fellow petrol head mates,.. then I 'know' I'm going to hear it!
You have a great day my friend! Peace! ✌😎

Eibach springs work a treat. A very nice improvement to a car without going crazy. Hope it wasn't windy that day as when I went many years ago the wind ruined the front end and windscreen of my car with road rash from the silt coming up off the runway, as did many many others, some considered of actually had front end re sprays done! . Glad to see the circuit hasn't changed though.

Interesting. I have a JCW hatch (standard 2019) which I drove in the Adelaide Rally (all tarmac) - I kept catching up with cars including new BMW M Competition (M5 & M4 etc) whenever the roads were twisty! The ‘standard’ JCW is awesome - the BMW drivers were astounded - to improve on that is quite a feat!

Keep the GP! More power, better breaks and way better body. Most of the upgrades on this DT Edition can be added to the GP.
Now, this DT edition is a better option for a daily driver, manual transmission, probably better sound, and 4 seats... interesting case!

Follow you heart lol easier said than done though I expect. Excellent video and I have to say that editing in the B roll of the outside shots of the mini really do polish your videos to perfection. It just adds that little extra that I think is missing. I expect Stef from ABTV had something to do with that support. And yes before you say it's difficult as majority of the time you've got your camera's and your on your own. Just wanted to say it was a really good watch. Very well edited together.

I'm due to collect a new Cooper S 210 Works Ed. I ordered from the dealers, hopefully in a week or two. Almost everything in that DT kit is already sat in my garage ready to go on it.
If you got your name down for a GP then, I'd stay with that,.. if just for investment purposes because, let's face it.. you know the performance is going to be there (It's a GP after all!), even though it should have a manual box option,.. it's performance shouldn't disappoint(!?) And the exclusivity of owning the new GP will practically pay for itself in resale value. You could probably run the GP for a full year and still get your money back if you decide to switch out rides.
I drove the JCW for a few weeks before placing my order last September and borrowed my kid bros 2.0ltr Cooper S for a couple of days for comparison and to be honest... I just couldn't justify the extra cost of the JCW over the S (Let alone a DT edition), the performance of the JCW wasn't anything the Cooper S couldn't match (Even exceed..), with just a few well chosen upgrades added at a fraction of the price difference between the two models.
I seriously punished both cars and found that the S really wasn't that far behind the full blooded JCW to warrant such extra expenditure, on B Road Blasts there was really nothing discernable between the two, the JCW looked good on paper but, in the real-world the only advantage I found the JCW to have over the S was on Oulton Park, where it's brakes were clearly better with overheating issues, they remained more consistent through the fade period and had a slightly better bite allowing the JCW to stay off the pedal a little longer than the S before going into fast-to-slow corners where heavy braking was necessary.
But, over the first 5 laps there was nothing to separate the two, only when things got hot,.. would the JCW start to reveal what it is that you were paying several grand extra for(!)
But, my Mini S won't be living on a track and with the right upgrades will stand toe to toe with the JCW on any of Britains Roads.. Especially the B ones and I've saved A Lot of money in the process.
Performance wise,.. other than the JCWs brakes and it having a "little" bit more poke you're really just paying for the JCW badge unless you can take it on a track each weekend to exploit the slightly improved features that make the JCW a much more expensive venture than the already impressive S, something which most owners won't.. I wouldn't even go for the JCW DT edition, just the Cooper S with the right upgrades will happily hold its own against either.
But, you are looking at the new Mini GP too, which is a completely different 'kettle of fish', and certainly at the price their asking,.. it had better be! If nothing else, you're paying for exclusivity which, with BMWs reputation for quality German engineering and building on the already successful, well established F56 platform, should come with excellent resale values.
You could run the GP for a year and then swap out without incurring any financial loss or keep it as a long term investment, as all the Mini GPs have pretty much received 'Collectors Car' status are well sought after and retain potentially high resale values which, will only increase as demand grows if well looked after. Also, the new GP looks the 'Bees Knees!',.. It reminds me of my old MkIII Clio V6,.. It may have been called a Clio but, the rest of the range was nothing like it(!).... I know because, I used to be a huge Renault-Sports fan, owning the 172, 182 & 200 Cup/Trophy model variants, along with the RS Megan 250 Cup & 275 Trophy models (All awesome Hot Hatches!), but the Clio V6 stood out in its own way and though not necessarily better performing than the other Clios (Especially the 182 Trophy.), it certainly wasn't lacking and they were nothing like it, come to think about it.. nothing else on the road was either(!)
I think the new GP is using the same kind of recipe, making it an instant classic to own and separating it from the other models carrying the Cooper badge! If you've been lucky enough to get your name down on the limited run GP, I'd leave it there and at least enjoy owning it for a year.
On a final note about the F56 Mini platform,.. you have felt the benefit that just the front upper strut-brace offers, but if you fit the full kit,.. Front Upper & Lower, Mid X2 & Rear Upper and Lower braces (As my brother has & I am going to).. it reduces a serious amount of body/chassis flex and improves the handling very notably indeed!
Which was a bit of a surprise as, we thought the F56 platform was already a very rigid chassis having each wheel pushed out to the corner and near perfect 50/50 distribution, but that big BMW engine must really pull on the frame under load, but the kit certainly sorts it out(!) The kit does add a bit of unwanted extra weight and costs about a grand but, the performance gains of maintaining higher cornering speeds, better balance under braking and having a more confident, consistent and balanced handling suspension beneath you, is well worth the cost. Especially for the track days(!)
I've just come across your channel, I've subscribed and look forward to viewing the rest of your content as time allows.
I'm a 'serious' petrol head (Obviously!... Sorry for writing this novel here!) and have been for over forty years since I were six years old when my ol' man first took me go-kart racing with my brothers,... I'm investing in a Mini S and were just viewing Mini related content (There's loads of it!) and though there's lots of reviewers putting videos out there, I watched your vid and found your review to be incredibly well done! Rather than just blab on about how awesome you think it is and how much fun you're having (Which 'most' reviewers on YT tend to do!),.. you actually did a proper good job, you expressed what's expected on paper, you got to the nitty-gritty of what makes this car a Mini, you addressed the engineering, function and mechanics of both the car & specific components,.. and most importantly, you described the characteristics and handling/performance feedback the vehicles were giving you... Instead of just stating a few obvious details and shouting "It's Awesome!", as appears to be the norm with so many TH-cam reviewers I've entertained my time to.
You're a 'True' petrol head and a reliable, concise reviewer, 👍😎 I look forward to viewing more of your content and maybe throwing a few posts/questions your way in the future and possibly a friendly criticism here or there, so long as you are open to constructive criticism, that is!?
Great Work mate(!).. Keep it up!

    Hi Pete.
Another good video and hopefully you were able to warm up soon afterwards. No, don't cancel the GP3. It is way more "out there " than this DT Edition and as a limited run car will always be more interesting. If it so happens that the GP3 does not turn out as you hoped then you can sell it and get one of these. There are so few really interesting cars out there nowadays without massive budgets. I must admit I struggle with the Mini but that is just my personal preference. I have been considering an Alpine A110 but they are quite expensive by the time you add an option or two. However I now have the Yaris GR-4 at the top of my list.
I looks amazing. Manual box, 4 wheel drive and 257bhp in a lightweight car. Sounds like heaven to a petrol head like me !!!!!

Do like the appearance + the handling looks amazing. If it was me, I would go for that, because of the handling, the appearance, and the manual gearbox. But I wouldn`t be happy with a finance option that limited me to 8000 miles. What would the DT be like with the Lohen Package No2, clutch, coilovers, split diff mods done on Ruby? I reckon it'd be like driving an earthquake, that leaves a cloud of dust behind it like a volcanic pyroclastic flow, and gargles through a set of Pyramid stage speakers. This, however, seems like a real driver's Mini, translating the JCW power to exquisite handling and great looks. Is it the Mini Kidman (as in Nicole)?

Great video Pete! Personally, I’m not a fan of “modern” Minis. I go to Oulton Park and watch the classic Might Minis and they just have that special something, don’t get the same feelings when it’s the modern cars. Probably the fact you can have 3 abreast going down Hill top and who’s going to be brave enough to break last for Hislop’s 😅. Anyway, regarding the GP3; I’d say go for it.
