That part in Splinter where (SPOILERS) The cop gets pulled in half was gross but really funny. It looked like her insides were made of raw chicken.

The Crazies remake from 2010 is so freaking underrated imo. Dead Silence too, literally the one James Wan movie nobody seems to acknowledge which I never understood. I definitely agree with you on Frailty as I grew up on it because my mom owns it. Also, idk if you saw Cody, but Session 9 is now on Netflix!

    • @spooky2toes83
      @spooky2toes83 4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

James wan doesn’t even want to acknowledge dead silence. He said something about it being weak, poorly written/made and that he’s embarrassed by it. Dead Silence is so fun and interesting. It’s an original idea! I love that movie. Wan not liking it makes me a little sad.

  • @tylerlucas3752

I couldn’t agree more with Frailty. It is criminally underrated and is just an amazing film. I watched it one night out of boredom and I was so invested with the story that I couldn’t take my eyes off of it... then the ending happened and my mind was completely blown. Totally subverted my expectations and it is by far one of (if not) the best endings I’ve ever seen.
Rest In Peace Bill Paxton, who himself was criminally underrated. Every role he plays, no matter how good or bad the film, you can’t take your eyes off him. The fact that he also directed this shows you what a great director he also could have been.
    Frailty is AMAZING!!

    • @dlaface7237
      @dlaface7237 ปีที่แล้ว

I know this is 2 years old but frailty I saw when it came out. At the time it was praised. I think Ebert gave it 4 stars if I remember correctly which is his highest rating. It just hasn’t really stayed in peoples minds for some reason. It’s one of those classics that people forgot about. It’s criminal

You ever see Cold Prey 1 and 2? They're slasher films from Scandinavia and are awesome. Just like the original two Halloween movies, they take place in the same night and the sequel ends at a hospital. The first is one of my favorite slasher films from the last 20 years.

Dear Mr Gacy... another good movie

I love Frailty. That movie sticks with you and the acting is well done. Session 9 was interesting to me because I grew up in the town where the mental hospital is located. It was cool to see the inside of the hospital since it has been closed and boarded up a long time.

Another great vid I would have voted for this one but being a dumb ass on the vote I didn't work out until too late you had to click to reveal the full list to vote on. I'm shocked how many I've not seen, so looking forward to checking the ones I've not. I watched Upgrade solely on your review and I bloody loved it.

Awesome ranking. I only ever heard of the top 3, I always thought number 1 was pretty decent. So I have a few here that I think are underrated, hopefully you can check them out too.
    Blood Creek
    Knife Edge (British mystery)
    Under the Shadow (Iranian horror)
    The Skeleton Key
Fear of the Dark (Kevin Zegers)
    Recycle (Asian horror)
    Lisa (90s stalker thriller)
    Into the Grizzly Maze
    Homicidal
    Strait Jacket
Burn Witch Burn aka Night of the Eagle
    The Burning
    The Invatation (Logan Marshall Green)
    Howl (Werewolves on a train)
Late Phases (blind veteran vs werewolf)
That's it, sorry there's so many, but hopefully you find one that sounds cool. Thanks Cody!

I liked Girlhouse, Trick or Treat (stars: Lita Ford, Gene Simmons, and Ozzy), Session 9, and Frailty (I loved the ending). I'll have to check out Behind The Mask. I think these are two other hidden jems: The Exorcist 3 and The Entity.

Cody, I finally was able to watch Session 9. The movie was awesome! It did have a slow burn but it ended up being a great movie! I had never heard of it before you mentioned it. Thanks!! 👍

Incident in a Ghostland is a great movie that you never hear about--with an interesting psychological twist. Also, Manhunter, prequel to Silence of the Lambs is a great movie with a fantastic soundtrack.

Those are some great movies! Some other hidden gems would be Incident in a Ghostland, 30 Days of Night, Haunt, Starry Eyes and The Ritual.
Also, 28 Days Later & 28 Weeks Later, Dog Soldiers and 30 Days of Night are an awesome combo of zombie, werewolf and vampire movies that go very well with each other.
Ironically, 28 Days Later came out the same year as Dog Soldiers, while 28 Weeks Later came out the same year as 30 Days of Night.

pretty kool list. i'm happy about the majority of those movies getting some love and being mentioned here. and yes, "frailty" is really great. i'm a little sad that bill paxton only directed very few movies. this was a whole new dimension of him that i really appreciated.

The Rise of Leslie Vernon is one of the more inventive and clever films I've seen in years...like Cody said if you're a fan of the slasher genre you will absolutely love this one. You can tell it was made by people who have great appreciation and respect for the genre.

Hobo with a shotgun is an exploitation film, not horror. To me anyway.. Love it.
