I hated that movie. But im also not a fan of the found footage type movies.
I just watched it for the first time last week. I liked it, but I think if you don’t know about Dante’s Inferno or the levels of Hell (which I looked up while watching it) it might not make as much sense.

The conjuring was one of the first movies to actually chill my bones, the clapping scene still gets me
The wardrobe scene with the evil spirit of the accused witch bathsheba sherman scaring the kids is amazing as well.
Also when the girl can see something in the corner of the room behind the door. Her acting is terrifyingly good. Just imagining what she is seeing scares the fuck outta me. That girl killed that scene.

my friend and i watched ‘as above, so below’ about a year ago and afterward we spent hours talking about the symbolism and meaning of the movie and how much we loved it. it’s a movie that has stayed with me to this day.
anyway, i absolutely loved hearing about your favs and could watch you rant about movies for hours tbh

Many of the movies were objectively bad, so it wouldn't be wrong calling them guilty pleasure. You can enjoy anything you want, but calling badly made movies good doesn't really make sense.
@@lapio8222 I don't remember her saying they're 'objectively' good she said they're HER top movies of the 2010's. Something doesn't have to be good for a person to genuinely enjoy it.
@@Anomaisie Right. Then using the word guilty please for a movie that is objectively bad, but which you enjoy would be correct. Saying "it was so good!" vs. "I really enjoyed it" is different. For example if someone is going to watch Chernobyl diaries and expect a WELL MADE film they will be disappointed.

Red State and Chernobyl Diaries are both gems. Michael Parks creeped the hell outta me in both R.S. and Tusk. The found footage style of Chernobly Diaries worked really well, imo.
The Conjuring is my #1 for 2013 and the whole 2010s decade.

Suspiria, the remake, traumatized me. I love the original so much. It's like a nightmare in the best ways possible and the remake was just ... upsetting x.x
As an Italian I'd say that the Suspiria movies are one of my biggest national prides 😂

Heredity wasn’t just a good horror movie. It was among the best movies of the 10s by far. So well preformed, directed, written and filmed. I haven’t watched it since theaters but
I still remember every bit of it.

How scary is it?
If you're new to horror it will probably scare the bejezus out of you. If you're a horror veteran some things might catch you at surprise but you'll probably see other things coming. Either way, it is a unique movie in the genre and in general and I believe because of its imagery, atmosphere, sounds, performances it is a must see viewing experience for all movie fans.
American Mary is one of my favorite movies. Such an interesting and somewhat unpredictable movie. Plus the main character is gorgeous

As you can see I have a bit of a bias to newer stuff, mainly because I only really got into horror in the past couple of years so the majority of the movies I've seen are probably from the late 2010s.

The cabin in the woods is one of the first horror movies that had me like 😲 at the end.truly a marvel of a movie

I can't remember how many people I have shown Grave encounters to. It's one of the most underrated.
Just thinking about the movie gives me the hebs.
Watching this gave me nostalgia, not for the movies but for the channel. I remember the first time you talked about some of these movies, and the channel is largely what got me into horror in the first place, so a thank you for that.

Have you seen Last Shift? It’s a 2014 movie. It’s based on the Manson family. It’s a little low budget, but I think they did work with their budget really well.
That was a pretty original and intense movie
Horrible and I usually like horrible.
It: Chapter Two was one of my faves, i absolutely loved how well they made it, I talked about it with so many people for ages after seeing it

Another one that I have a strange liking for is Mother! just because it can be so very disturbing at points. Idk if many people consider it a horror film so much as it is, idek what, a giant metaphor maybe? But it’s gooood.

I watched Tusk 2 months ago and honestly it takes me so much to be scared but that reveal literally made me cry and made my skin crawl. It was the first time in my life that a movie/scene had disturbed me to this point... I cant believe I actually cried. My boyfriend had to console me cause I was terrified and I'm a grown ass woman LOL

Amazing video! I also liked Midsommar way better than Hereditary. But why did you not like Horns? I think it's my favourite Daniel Radcliffe movie (but I also really like Joe Hill so I may be biased)

tucker and dale vs evil HILARIOUS! The original Conjuring is a fave, Maniac disturbed the hell out of me but it was Amazing! (have not seen the original yet though) and remake of Evil Dead- terrified me - one of the scariest films ever.

This is a great list! I agree with a lot of them. My favorites from the 2010s off the top of my head are Get Out, Us, Hereditary, Midsommar, The Witch, Sinister, Mama, and The Woman in Black.
The neon demon from 2016 is a great very weird horror film, Elle Fanning and Keanu Reeves are in it

LOVE this list. As Above So Below is one of my absolute favorite horror movies of all times. It's just SO UNIQUE and well made.
American Mary is definitely one of my favorites. I have a tattoo of the Soska twins from that movie. Katharine Isabelle is easily one of my favorite actors.

I'm so glad the Evil Dead remake was on here, I prefer it to the original and that seems to annoy a lot of people :')
But most of all I love finding someone else that enjoys The Village! It's one of my favourite Shyamalan films and I even liked the twist.

Have you seen The Bay by Barry Levinson? I think it's one of the most surprisingly great horror movies of the last decade, genuinely disturbing throughout its entirety, btw great list even though I haven't seen most of the movies in it unfortunately.
Midsommar went from a movie I struggled with to my favorite of that year to one of my top movies of all time

Love the fact that I love most of the movies that you mentioned. For me the best 5 movies of the last decade are The Witch, Midsommar, Hereditary, Sinister and probably Babadook. Also watch original Suspiria, the visual side of the movie is so beautiful.
There’s a bunch on your list I’ve never seen! I really respect your opinion, I feel like we like a lot of the same movies so I will definitely start watching the ones I haven’t seen. If you like it I always think it’s worth checking out, thank you so much for this list!
I loved Annihilation. It was also one of the creepiest moviegoing experiences I've ever had. 3 minutes in a guy walked in and stood in the middle of the isle and didn't move for a swear a third of the movie before finally sitting down...
Mama is probably my top horror film and I find it so surprising that not many people like it! I have watched it countless times and never hear anyone talk it about it. It is right up there with VVitch, The Ritual, and Grave Encounters.
