You give the simplest, yet most detailed and complete tutorials. The depth you go into on every little detail is GREATLY appreciated. Not only do you explain, in detail, what you're doing, but why. Thanks, I really enjoy your channel.🤙
Very helpful video. As a dad who never rode BMX only Road/MTB your knowledge is invaluable. I kinda worked out what you said but you have made it crystal clear. 👍
I’m about to start my first bmx build from scratch. I’ve watched several of your vids to see what I’m gonna need and how to install. Your vids are great and very informative. I am also a handy man and utilize TH-cam videos all the time to get me through fixes and installations. TH-cam is def one of my most valuable tools and it’s because of ppl like you so thank you bro!! Keep going!!!
Damn I’ve saw so many tutorials, some by big time people or websites, and Brant definitely has the best one. Hell, I might actually try doing these brakes tmrw that I’ve been dreading forever now. lol this one honestly couldn’t have made it look any easier. 👍🤘
Just got into BMX so i could get a feel for some tricks for Bike Trials (Street-trials bike) and messed around trying to get the cable to pull even, turns out it was spring tension i hadnt checked 🤦♂️ Helpful video has saved me a headache 😁👌
You can try one if you have one, but there’s no guarantee that it’ll work. I’ve used different ones than what came with a set of brakes before and had it work
ive been trying to adjust by brakes the brake pads are not at the same distance then when they are they dont touch the rim at the same time and it’s bothering me Edit: Idk which one i have to loosen up or witch one i have to tighten, do i tighten the one that is closer to the rim and loose the one that is farther or loose the closer one and tighten the farther one or do i tighen the closer one and leave the other alone and vise versa? ive been at it for an hour and i cant get it, it breaks but it takes a while to stop when you’re on the bike
It’s possible the cables have dirt and debris in them. It’s also possible that they were bent internally and it’s causing friction. No real way to say without actually seeing it. I offer virtual help through the link on my instgram
@@Brant_Moore thanks, I don't know enough about bikes to work on them, I was going to attempt fixing them myself....thank you Brant for your responses and suggestions they're appreciated, I may leave it for a man to deal with....all the best to you and happy riding 👍🏻😎
You can also take it to the local bike shop and they will be happy to help. Bike shops are super super busy right now though so it will probably be at least a few week wait before they can get to it
It is frustrating as hell not knowing how to adjust your bike brakes. But once you do it's all good. Then you can teach others or get paid to do it for them.
Comprehensive video, well done. I think you already covered lubing your cables in another vid, I recently forgot to lube up one of my aging cables and it just let go where it had rubbed on the adjuster barrel. Lube up people!
Thanks bro! Just fix my kids bmx thanks to you and this GREAT video! Also, I made the mistake you said not to make. The one where you adjust the brake before you tighten the chain...LOL.
Hey Im happy to help and happy to hear that this worked for you. Too funny about adjusting before tightening the chain. I've done it many times as well! Thanks for being here!
Thanks!im building a new bmx and i will have one brake because in street rider and i cant barspin 😂😹and im trying to learn wheelie.anyway you are the best but a lot underrated
If you’re using gyro cables you can adjust the barrel adjusters to remove the slack. The uppers should not be affected by the lowers since you want the gyro to sit as close to the gyro tabs as possible. This is partially why I made my own upper cables. Most off the shelf ones have so much slack that needs adjusted out with the barrel adjusters. Making my own and using a gyro with screws means minimal slack from the beginning
Thanks for the help. I have watched your gyro vids but i have a problem cause my frame doesnt have giro tabs what could i do? I cannot buy i new one cause im f*cking broke
i guess i really have a different type of brake, i mean there’s no spring like that in my brake.it came from a mosh bikes and its not really springy unlike the ones u have
Does anyone ever have issues with their removeable brake hardware? I have an older Fit Aitken with Ody EVO 2.5s. My brake arms sometimes interfere with one another and my bolt-through brake hardware comes loose after 15-20 mins of riding! I honestly wish I had welded mounts, studier and less flex.
I used to have issues on a previous frame but things have been good on the sundays! Tack those effers on! hahaha Or maybe even put jb weld in the threads so they become welded-ish? Only problem there is that they would never come out if there happened to be a problem
One of my breaks is far out close to touching the rim the other is way closer and looks normal every time I pull my lever I get rub from my one of my break arms NOT MY PAD
Could be in your brake cables too. If there’s too much friction from dirt or other stuff in the cable or a bent cable inner, it won’t return normally or easily
@Brant_Moore the brake pads in the back seem to be very tight, I can’t peddle at full speed and it makes a loud noise like it’s just rubbing against the wheel I just wanna ride my new eastern sir :(
I won’t buy parktool products because they don’t support bmx. There overly expensive. And they make the tools so hard they actually destroy your components sooo...

Yo Brant good sh*t brother. I already got started on these because of this video. Hopefully tmrw I can ride with some half decent brakes
Damn I’ve saw so many tutorials, some by big time people or websites, and Brant definitely has the best one. Hell, I might actually try doing these brakes tmrw that I’ve been dreading forever now. lol this one honestly couldn’t have made it look any easier. 👍🤘
Those are some big compliments man!! Thank you!!!
This guy is a Bmx dude if I ever saw one. That being said this video proves it lol. Very well explained and a ton of help. Keep up the good work
turns out i just needed to tighten the tension and you explained clear enough to help me out. Thank you!!
Thanks for such a comprehensive and helpful explanation on the braking system!
What kind of brake pads do you suggest on black rims. I dont really want super loud ones. I'm just doing wheelies and riding around town. Thanks
Kool stop salmon color if you don’t want loud. Anything clear if you ever do
Kool-Stop Supra 2 White are also very grippy and low-squeak.
Better video than other channels!
Great video! I was pulling my hair out with set up I found that I had the springs in wrong side! Thank you....great straight advice.

@@Brant_Moore I already subbed a long time ago. When I saw that vid on replacing hub bearings. You deserve way more subs!
Oh awesome man thank you!!!
I lost the spring and cap from an old brake my fit Bmx came with could I use any spring and cap or would it have to be the original?
You can try one if you have one, but there’s no guarantee that it’ll work. I’ve used different ones than what came with a set of brakes before and had it work
Now I feel confident adjusting my brakes. Thanks.

Fantastic video! and well articulated. Now I am ready to go re-try centering the brake pads!
You’ve got this!!
And thank you!
Thanks....how do I release the tension in the leaves on the handle bars ?
I’m not sure what you mean
When you press the brakes on at the handle bars they're very stiff to pull on, I'm hoping I don't need new brake cables?
It’s possible the cables have dirt and debris in them. It’s also possible that they were bent internally and it’s causing friction. No real way to say without actually seeing it. I offer virtual help through the link on my instgram

Very true! I love helping other people dial in their brakes...obviously from the existence of these videos....haha

Haha that will be part of a setting up your brakes video!
Definitely important, and thank you!
Thanks again.
So many videos come in handy.
you have the best videos , glad to sub
Thank you so much!! Really appreciate you being here!!
thanks man that pad dragging was killing me at the park
Ahh I bet! Always happy to help!! Hope to see you in the comments again
What if you don't have springs? My bmx brakes are too tight and I can't quite get the adjustment right and dont have srings to change my tension
If there are no springs there’s really no way to adjust them

Super helpful. Thank you.

Same bro. Had questions for years
Thanks m8 it helped me I can actually ride my bike with good brakes
Thanks for the great content and help, Brant!
I’m always happy to help! Glad to hear that it may have
The one pad on both front and back pads won’t spring out ?, I’ve tightened the spring but it still sticks on the rim any ideas?
You went the wrong way
But how to remove the slack from the upper brake cable like you said to do before anything with the lower brakes?
If you’re using gyro cables you can adjust the barrel adjusters to remove the slack. The uppers should not be affected by the lowers since you want the gyro to sit as close to the gyro tabs as possible.
This is partially why I made my own upper cables. Most off the shelf ones have so much slack that needs adjusted out with the barrel adjusters. Making my own and using a gyro with screws means minimal slack from the beginning
When ever I pull mine the brakes losins my brakes are tight too my bike is a subrosa 26’
Hmm that sounds really odd. I would take it to the closest bike shop and have them take a quick look at it for you
My guy, this helped so much 🙌
Always happy to help!!
great video mate very helpfull
Thank you! For the kind words and for watching! Hope it helped you out with whatever you needed
Thx brant lol had trouble fixing it myself
Always happy to help!!!
why is it that ehen i pill the breaks the left one doesn't comeback
One question why does my brake pads bot retern after i pull the brake
Sounds like there is either not enough spring tension, or too much friction in the cable not allowing the springs to bring them back properly.
Thanks man i figured it out my barrel adjuster was way out of alignment thank you for the support.
Amazing video
Great video broseph! !!
Thanks man and thank you for subscribing! Just saw the notification
Thank you so much!
Thank you, I didn't know you had to hold the nut while you tighten the allen wrench
Why is it when my son pulls the lever it's super hard. It hurts his finger. Really tight
Sounds like the spring tension is too tight making them harder to pull
Thanks for the help. I have watched your gyro vids but i have a problem cause my frame doesnt have giro tabs what could i do? I cannot buy i new one cause im f*cking broke
People drill them and it seems to work okay
You can get gyros with lower cable stop plates for non integrated headsests
Thanks man your really helpful no cap
My brake arms are really close on a stolen casino 2017 I want to tighten my chain more but it will rub
Gonna have to either get a smaller tire, different brakes made to fit bigger tires, or take a link out of your chain
I’ve tried everything can’t get my pads to stop rubbing I’ve been working on it for 12 hours
Great tips dude - thx. Rad!
Thank you!
Hopefully they help enough to earn your subscription!
Thanks dude
Thank you
This was very great
Hope it helped you!!
Fly Manual Springhanger is worth looking into.
Thanks Brant! Great informative video, it helped me realign my brakes correctly.
Awesome to hear! Glad your brakes are good now too.
Hopefully it helped enough to earn your subscription
Questions, are your brake pads on the reverse way on purpose bro? Or have I been putting mines on backwards lmao
Thank u!
i guess i really have a different type of brake, i mean there’s no spring like that in my brake.it came from a mosh bikes and its not really springy unlike the ones u have
My brake doesn’t spring back and the spring isn’t broken idk what to do.

I was hoping this would be easy hahah
If you’re Bmx you tuber does not look like this guy, don’t trust what they say.
❤️ Thank you!
I still have to to manually push my brake handle back out. Very frustrating
Could be in your brake cables too. If there’s too much friction from dirt or other stuff in the cable or a bent cable inner, it won’t return normally or easily
What if your brakes are too tight?
Hmm, can you give more information?
@Brant_Moore the brake pads in the back seem to be very tight, I can’t peddle at full speed and it makes a loud noise like it’s just rubbing against the wheel I just wanna ride my new eastern sir :(
Check your barrel adjusters. If they can be adjusted in a little, try that. If not, check out your local bike shop. They will be able to help.
@Brant_Moore I’ll check it brother, thanks for the help I’m subscribing now lol
@Brant_Moore yo dude, I did what you said, it’s real smooth again, thanks my guy!!!
Holy guck I'm confused. *thanks auto correct for not allowing me to use foul language.
How can I help?
