Great tips from Shaun. I just fitted some V- Brakes to my Supercross and this video helped a lot! The spacing hack was brilliant, I was definitely struggling till I saw that technique 👍
Loved this brake hack,I just changed out my SE brakes over to Box and was struggling with the alignment and then I just adjusted everything as you did in your video, problem solved in less than 10 minutes, hats off to you guys 😎
Just remember folks on ANY brake system be SURE the wheel is CENTERED on the frame or fork BEFORE you make any adjustments. 90% of the time your brake pulls to one side over the other is because your wheel is not PERFECTLY centered, so check that FIRST! :>0
Hey I was wondering i have a big flyer with maxxis and I need to get a whole new brake caliper and I don’t know which one to buy or size could u help me!
I honestly don't know. This is where a local bike shop would really help. They can look at your tire clearance and suggest some options for you. I'm assuming the tires are wider and are rubbing the caliper arms? Shaun from Phoenix Bike Co is a great resource. You can google the shop phone number and give him a a call and ask him what he suggests.
I can’t do it live, but I’ll gladly install new brakes and do a full video on it. If you’re struggling, unscrew both tension screws and then start tightening the side that needs to go out… make adjustments and see visually what it needs to be center. If one side doesn’t change it, unscrew and tighten the other side. They work together to balance and center your brake arms.
What I do is back them out and start over. Tighten the side that’s not reacting as well and then tighten the opposite side until you get the right balance of spring tension. Good luck!
@@BigBikeBMX yea they are the $130 ones and they system works pretty nice they are easy to install and honestly they are really good brakes but they aren’t for everyone since not everyone likes how they are kind touchy
I don't really see the need for them if you're doing normal big BMX bike riding. Meaning, wheelies and normal BMX type stuff. The brake boosters are designed to stiffen up the brake boss and in theory reduce flexing making for better stopping. Most of us ride these bikes and need to feather the brakes to wheelie or slow down vs stopping on a BMX track. I'd save your money and invest in decent brake pads and that should do it. Great question!
Isaac Irvine Yo Isaac hope all is well with you guys. With regards to the hex bolt I use to always set the spring to max setting so the calliper arms would be harder to push in that way the break shoes are always being pushed away from the rims at the highest setting. P.S. always screw the screw, don’t let the screw, screw you....😎
Ugh. Very informative video but man, but I still cannot get my brakes to “pull away” from the rim on my PK. I tried the screws but they didn’t do much to get the pads away from the rim. So frustrating!!!

Interesting hack with the noodle setup technique.
5446moto I agree. I’ve never seen that myself.
This video saved me, that's for the great overview
Will have to save this vid for future reference. Big ups to another great vid.
Thanks Dominic! I really appreciate it.

CarbonAce Great! Those brakes can be tricky. Hope it helps🙏🙏
Shuan is the mann, could you guys do a video for disc brakes?
Paul E Doggs absolutely

Same fucking problem bro, bought some $70 ones don’t fit right. Cannot find anything that fits the se big flyer. Not even a manufacturers oem
I wish u could do a live show of actually adjusting a bike that needs it

Thank u for the tips! I had the shop aline the brakes for $25 and true both rims $60. But the brakes still squeak loud .
The screws on my V brakes dont seem to do much to do the breaks when i turn the screws... any suggestions???

Haven’t had rim brakes in so long and I just got a blocks flyer for free and I gotta adjust them
My brake is too tight how do I make it loosen
unpopular opinion: rim brakes can be just as good as disc if dialed properly with good pads
I completely agree. You're not wrong.
@@BigBikeBMX yea and also btw I seen ur videos and I reccomend the Magura Hs33

Love Clark's elite pads on both my MTB v brakes. Have mechanical discs on the 29er but not as sharp

I just built my big flyer brand new brakes from city grounds back wheel was in there brakes already on they squeak

I'd love to interview them. We have some fun OG riders lined up for the upcoming shows :)
Next video how to tighten a chain on a bike stand😁😁
Looks like I'm not the only one trying to figure out how to adjust my Big flyers brakes haha
The brakes are definitely a downgrade from the Big Ripper, but then again so was the price of the bike.
@@BigBikeBMX yeah I'm most definitely guna upgrade the brake system. Yeah my big ripper has way better components.
