Honestly one reason I like Adam is he gives me old rockstar vibes. Like a guy past his prime when he leaked years ago to the point no one cares or really thinks of him as a big deal anymore. It also make sense that’s a reason he acts this way imagine how you would act if god made you to start humanity then both wives made for you did things that caused them to be cast out of heaven and because you started humanity already heaven didn’t give you a third wife and just left you alone because you did everything you were made for and don’t really have anything else for you to do for them.
To be fair, he is the first man and it gave him an inflated ego. Not to mention, the first who got into Heaven. Also being the first ment there were no social norms to learn from. This doesn't excuse him though it just explains why he is that way. Maybe the angels should have tought him some maners.
Okay In response to the Nifty comment, I would like to point out 2 things, firstly he died to a Suprise attack secondly it is implied in the show that Nifty WAS AN OVERLORD, you can see her silhouette when the screen flashes Alastor's conquests.
What I love about Adam (and what I find missing in this video, sadly) is that he's a more intelligent take on toxic masculinity than 99% of "toxic men in media". His character, while there to be an easily hatable villain, is an exaggeration of reality instead of a strawman. Most of the time you have an evil toxic male character to beat up in your story, the character is just a strawman of manhood that looks like what Anita Sarkeesian thinks the average man is. It's a played-out trope with zero nuance and zero interesting traits. You kinda got to a similar point when you said "toxic characters can't exist in a vacuum." And you're right not just about fictional characters, but about real people as well. Adam seems to have been created by taking a realistic toxic man and playing him up to eleven because the entire show IS "up to eleven".
@SnakeMan448 I wouldn’t have used Anita Sarkeesian as an example, that feels like an unnecessary step towards a debate I’m not sure I feel like having, but I do understand their point. It’s a point I bring up even, how Adam isn’t there to be a straw man or exists purely for our female protagonists to kill to prove Adam wrong about women.
Adam: >In the show lore does not eat the fruit >Lilith left him due to "muh inequality" and he does not pursue her or plot revenge against her >Lucifer with Lilith return to Eden and fuck up whole creation >Adam is forced to watch for eons how perfect creation was lost to sin >daughter of the guy that fucked up reality and woman who created hell armies comes to you and tries to burden heaven with hells problem, becouse that is what Hazbin Hotel is - they blame angels for extermination while not dealing with overlords and sin in hell. >"But Adam is toxic masculinity" yeach and that is why he is the best character in the show, becouse fuck Demons, fuck Lucifer and fuck Lilith, they are responsible for everything, Extermination is just consequence of their decisions.
1. Lilith left because Adam wanted to treat her more like a servant than a wife 2. Lucifer and Lilith gave humanity free will, it was humanity that ruined things for themselves 3. Adam saw what was happening and decided that the only smart decision was to murder his own offspring, for fun even 4. The Overlords are responsible for making Hell as it is, but the angels are murderers, something that goes against what heaven is meant to be. And Charlie wants to protect her people, sinners and hell born alike. The show makes it clear by the way that since no one knows what gets someone into heaven, you could get stuck in Hell for some minor offense, thus if there’s a shot at being redeemed you should be allowed to take it, and not have to die because of it.

"After getting the shit kicked out of him by the angel who took *both* of his wives" 💀💀💀
Maybe that how his insecurities began; since lucy had his way with both of his wives

The reason Adam is so fun to watch is because Alex Brightman is awesome.
I liked Adam lol
Honestly Adam was a complete jackass but, I laughed every time I he was on screen the only character i liked more than Adam is Alastor.
He’s enjoyable because he’s an asshole
He is entertaining on screen, interacting with other characters. Doesn't mean I want to interact with people like him irl.
That's cause Alex Brightman's performance is the best.

he was created that way i dont
But the narrative that he just
became "sexist" out of nowhere Thats not how that works.
adam & lute are
The best characters
Ngl.
Id say hes more childish than anything else

What is wrong with Adam is not toxic masculinity. The problem is that he is a narcisist. Stop blaming everything on man and natural male traits.
I love Adam ❤

Anita Sarkeesian, really? Girl's been strawmanned so much that I don't think that anyone knows her actual words.

Nuff said.
toxic masculinity is a dumb term to umbrella all men
With negative traits which
is just sexism cause it almost
never goes the other way.
