Hey Tanner, have you thought of trying to paint the fender flares yourself off the car with auto paint in rattle cans? I wound do plastic adhesion promoter as a primer, then custom made wrb (02c paint code) base coat in a rattle can (likely 3 coats), then clear with 3 coats of spraymax 2k. As long as the color match is close you will be golden but blending into the quarter panel would of course get you the best Result (but much more expensive ...). Worth a try before shelling out money for the paint shop.
Yeah, I would only do the flares with rattle cans (not fender). Clearing the entire fender with a rattle can likely would not come out well. It may be worth a try to see if you can get a close enough color match DIY (Mabey do a test sample on a scrap piece?). You would only be out $60 or so for materials and it may come out nice
Thanks you made that looks alot less scary. Have all the same parts waiting to be installed on my 05. Kinda surprised you didn't do the sway bars and end links while you were at it
When you did the axle seals, did you make sure to have the little arrow on the seals pointing towards the front of the car? They are directional and will leak over time. Ask me how I know... Also, one last thing. The AEM oil pressure guage kit, when you put the oil pressure sensor where the stock sensor went (above the oil pump), how did you wire it up? If it can help someone about the diff temp sensor. When i did fluid change it was a pain in the b☆tt, because the plug was full of sand and dirt.
A subie tech friend of mine told me to put water in a spayer bottle and shoot the plug to loosen parts of the dirt. Like so the connector would disconnect way easyer

Hey tanner I keep commenting on the latest videos, I would love to see an ej205 build to help out us 2.0 boys with built engines, do a 2.2 stroker engine I could use some of your knowledge please !
I've never been a big fan of thr 2.0Ls. I have a 207 that's been sitting for a bit 😅
STI looking sick. RX7 just send it for now paint can wait no?
I'd rather get it all knocked out at once so I don't have to do it again later 🤝 disassembly and reassembly I don't foresee taking too long since we already have everything for it
Lookin like RWB with the free ✋️ 🎉
My line drawing skills are mid tier 😂😅
Bro for future reference Amazon has a tool for I think like 19 bucks meant for the lower ball joints that it pulls it out its a subaru tool I by mistake snapped a steering knuckle doing it the way you did lol but then again mine didn't come out as easy as yours did but I love the content bro keep up the good work bro and happy new year and many blessings
Definitely going to snag one 😅 I haven't cracked a hub yet but would rather not if I can avoid it 😅
am i seeing this rite gear oil in the transmission
Man this build is giving me a real bad itch to get back into a GD... I would love to try a full rebuild car, where did you find this STi for so cheap?
Do itttt! Marketplace is a good place to look around. Snagged this one for $8,000 which imo was still a bit high for everything that's been wrong with it 😅
Thr blown up and clapped ones you can normally find for a deal
@@Smeedia Nice! not too bad. I still see those selling for low $20s at least! I live on the east side of WA and the only blown up cars the shells are just thrashed 😪
love the videos man! hope you had a good Christmas. STI sounds sick really cant wait to see actual numbers lol! This sti sounds good and looks great as well. your videos get me in trouble though because I want to dump all kinds of money into mine lol. 😄
Hope you had a good Christmas as well 🥳
This 07 has been a pile to have to fix all the little stuff. But the end result will be so worth it 🔥 I'm teying to only fix what's needed but that's kinda hard to do 😅
It will look good. Honestly those flares look fire on there I cant wait to see what they look like when they get painted. it is man when I bought my 16 wrx I had so much that was wrong and I ended up dumping way more than I probably should just to get it running right again.@@Smeedia
Mary Christmas and happy nws year tanner
Merry Christmas and happy new year steeve 🥳
Loving the gd content of course! Getting some work done on the chassis swap on my 04-05 blobeye as we speak 🫶 debating if I wanna do a rod piston 205 or build a 2.5 for it
Swap going pretty smooth? 🙌👀🫡
Imo I'd say go 2.5 unless you wanna stick with the 2.0L
@@Smeedia it’s going lol, been cleaning and fixing a little bit of rust(east coast) and can I use non AVCs cams and gears and plug the sensor location on the 2.5 heads?
U should go to subie fest in California
I'm going to be out and about with the 07 this year 🫡
The 17 STI is a bit harder to transport around 😅
@@Smeedia I heir that lol but it would be cool to see it heir but either way it would be cool to have u heir in Cali lol 😂
This build is really making me want to swap my GR for a GD
Can't go wrong with a GD but alot of them need alot of Love 😅
@@Smeedia 100% especially anything up here in Canada
My son's 2014 WRX has a trans dipstick. FYI. I'm not sure if his car has an older 5 speed installed though?
the 5 speeds should have them up until 2014. after 07 all STI 6 speeds did not have them
@@Smeedia Good to know, I thought my son had an oddity.
Привет. С наступающим новым годом. Успехов в таком не лёгком деле. Только вперёд. 🎉
Happy new year and thank you 🥳🥳
Those axle seals are directional.
Just learned this 😂 when/if they leak ill swap them again lol
@@Smeedia lol I'm surprised that they didn't tell you when you bought it.
Fender gore ahhhhhhh
😈😈😈🤣
@@Smeedia you need a content warning XD
@@Hakiri27lmao pre screen trigger warning 😂⚠️
how long do roll center kits last? i feel like my white line kit took a poop quickly
They shouldet poop out that quick. The set on Karma is still kicking after like 35K mimes
Do you have a preference of white line vs super pro?
Personally super pro just because it’s a bit cheaper
yesss 👍💪
🙌🙌😍
You know it’s getting serious when the gloves go on lol
No glove no love
I've seen a battery explode in real time right outside my house at a stop sign, it was an Impala "the cool old ones" guy had just got it running fresh paint the works, and the battery blew, the entire car burned to the ground because Fire Dept couldn't get to it in time.
Hot damn 😵 exploding batteries is something I'm going to try and avoid 😅
How much does the body shop usually charge you to paint the flares?
Wanna say it's $200 per flare for prep and paint
I am new to the Subaru world (07 wrx) and I noticed you don’t have the U frame under the car. Mine is trashed and I actually have been looking for one. Is it going to hurt the car if I end up taking it out and running without it? I’ve seen people do that but just wanting to get more advise.
nothing wrong with taking it out. The U frame only came on North American models for safety ratings. It helps to push the engine down in a front end collision. Aside from that they don't really do much
@@Smeedia I appreciate you taking the time to reply! Gonna get tossed into the bin asap!
Not to be off topic but tanner do you know anything about srt4s? Reason i ask is because you have one in your front yard.
I have a problem with mines and want you to look at the last short i posted man. Please let me know what you think the problem is?
Subie looks A1 clean!!!!!
I know very little about them but enough to get by 😅 what's up? I might be able to help lol
@@Smeedia i been told the timing chain then i was told my old owner pcm went out. Please check out the last short i posted. I forsure need your advice man.
@ReefyBmx lemme ask Matt dude knows way more about thrm than I do. I follow up soon 🫡
@@Smeedia thanks man! 🫡🙏🏾

That's why the uploads slowed down a hair for the holiday time 🫡 spending some time with the lady and pups 🥳
Hope you had a good Christmas Jeff 🫡🙌
Which cars are you selling?
Video on the first one going up should be live next week. Don't want to say too much yet
Rip FabAnDab 😢
His name lives on here 💔
An 04 isnt much different than an 02 right?
Wrx no not really any different I believe thr big cross over year was my05. Sti is sti though
For wrx they're not too far off from one another

I always wondered why the front flare only covers like half the arch and the rear covers the whole arch. Plus it would be more aero dynamically efficient

Yo just wondering what the part number was for those inner axle seals. Love all you builds, gives me the courage to tackle projects I’ve never imagined

Will u be my mentor plz? 🙏😅🙏
Talked me into it 😅
@@Smeedia Be forever grateful! Ha 🙌 teaching myself ATM going slow 😂
You really spray painted the fender arches without using primer. Really will be timeless when it rusts out lmfao
It's DTM paint with weld through primer and seam sealer. It'll be fine
