Not necessarily but it helps tremendously. If you don’t remove the water pump you still need to remove a lot of other stuff to get it out and it’s a very tight squeeze.
at the 8:55 mark you describe testing for vacumm leaks. Did you make that connection/fitting "white piece" for the compressor line to fit into the intercooler boot? Great video and thanks for sharing your skill and knowledge on the awesome 944 series!
I mean, the cup things were kind of fitting… every beer variety in Germany is assigned a special kind of cup. Kölsch, for example, comes in a slender 200-milliliter glass, while Hefeweizen is drunk out of a tall, half-liter glass with a bulge at the top, or the traditional mug. A Pilsner glass looks more like a wine glass with a beer belly. Perhaps the prior owner was so particular about his/her beer drinking cup that it warranted advertisement of said peculiarity? 🤣 🍺
Nice car, lucky for you it's almost brand new since the last owner almost never used it ! If you should loose anything it's the turbo sticker - anyone can see it's a turbo on the front, anyways.
@@happyfox711 The turbo sticker on the right fender is a factory installed decal, part number: 951-559-221-00. To remove it would reduce the car’s originality and therefore its value. To your point though, getting something like a personalized license plate with “TURBO” written on it might be going too far. 🤣
Hi there. Great video and thanks for sharing it with us. I have a quick question please the lower balance shaft housing. Do you put silicon around the O-ring on the back to help seal it?
Brent another detailed, beautiful work! Thank you for sharing. It is amazing how many issues can crop up, even with the vehicle which seems in mint condition.
As far as we can tell. Trying to pinpoint the leaks can be a headache so we always replace all the seals and then check to see if anything is still leaking. I don't think we've ever had any leaks after replacing all the seals and you don't have to worry about other worn seals going out soon after.
@@edredas Been trying to islolate a leak in the same area every since I rebuilt the engine. Thought it was the oil galley plug behind the water pump. Replaced that using lock tight and epoxy, but still dripping a little after the engine runs. I did have that same balance shaft issue but left it (hard to turn). Just thinking
Hey sorry I've been busy lately and just trying to catch up on emails and comments. That could be your issue there with the balance-shaft. As soon as I corrected it it seems to have solved the issue. I also put some of that loctite on the bolts that went into the block where that bracket is. I hope that helps!
Hey. I'm trying to re-do all the bolts, clips etc. that are holding the dashboard, but can't seem to find any info on what kind of bolts/clips should be there (sizes etc?). I've tried the parts catalog, but these are the only bolts that are not listed there :) (the ones near the steering wheel that you mention in the video and the ones on top of this trim - 3 pieces). Do you maybe have a list of the sizes? Apparently the screws are 3,5x16mm but not sure about the clips :( Thanks for doing an epic job with the videos! They helped me fixing up my 944 a lot!
Most hardware stores carry the clips/speed nuts that will work. That's where I got these. While they differ slightly from the originals these will never fall out and get lost. Thanks!
That front plate needs to go, it blocks airflow to the radiator. If you really drive these cars, you'll need all the cooling you can get. But Nice car and Good informative video. Like always.
Nice, I have an 87 951 with the same rims in Nautic Blue. I would love to get it to you for a PPI before I sell her . You are in the Charlotte area also correct?
Hello. Do I need to remove the intake manifold to remove the oil water separator
Not necessarily but it helps tremendously. If you don’t remove the water pump you still need to remove a lot of other stuff to get it out and it’s a very tight squeeze.
Thank You. I really appreciate the fast response
Nice work!
owners brought their car to right person
Wow, someday I'll get my 928 down there. You do amazing work
Hope so
Wow, I've never seen a clean expansion tank on a 944T
The new tanks used to be rather affordable, but they have since skyrocketed in price...
Amazing work. We are doing a turbo conversion and THIS video is essential. Thanks for posting.
This car was really well kept. Here's to it lasting another 30 years
the word is unused - less than 60.000

Yes, I it is a roughly 2" pipe cap from the hardware store that we threaded a air fitting into. Thanks!
What fuel lines did you use to replace the original fuel lines?
We use the Rennbay kit
This Turbo is the sister to mine, thanks for the great video
Very nice, i only have a 924 myself but it's going for an mot next week so hopefully one more back on the road don't be discouraged
I love my car! Thanks to your and your team for amazing work! And yes, I have removed those Cup things. previous owner...

@@happyfox711 that's a factory sticker. wont be losing that!
Not sure why, but seeing fuel lines being replaced makes me happy.
That’s the thing about fires… some people see them and some people don’t.
Car looks amazing! Good job Racer Racer and team Adredas.😁
Hi there. Great video and thanks for sharing it with us. I have a quick question please the lower balance shaft housing. Do you put silicon around the O-ring on the back to help seal it?
I don’t use any silicone there. I just add a thin layer of oil to lubricate the O-ring to keep it from tearing during installation.

Absolutely! Never hurts to comb through and make sure everything is in good condition even on cars that seem to be in good condition! Thanks!
So was the lower balance shaft seal what was causing the oil leak on the power steering bracket?

@@edredas I'm hope. I will tackle it. Better that than the front oil galley plug
wow, what a beautiful example, nice work!
Thx for the great video!
Hey there I noticed you changed out the fuel lines. Where do you source them from? Thank you in advance.
I order them from Rennbay.

Trying to locate an ISV for my 86 951. Any leads? They seem to be on backorder.
I tried for weeks to get an OEM one. However I eventually had to go with the new one 944 online carries.
@@edredas and saved a bunch of dollars

Yup, I live in South end. I don't have a lot of time but maybe we could work something out where we meet up.
Nice job ! Now this turbo is ready for a long time !
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Puts out a 12 minute video and it's almost 1k per minute for the repair cost! lol
not even close. Edredas is extremely fair...
Great for you, not much to do.. but excuse me - who the fuck has had this car without driving it ?! It's blasphemy to any motorhead.
