  • This week we are bringing this Guards Red Porsche 944 back to life! It came in running but didn't have any service history. So we started out by replacing the timing belt and water pump. Then we got the passenger side window and head lights working. Afterwards we replaced all the wheel bearings, rotors, rebuilt the brakes, and replaced the koni's all around. Once all that was finished up we sent it to paint!

    Proud owner of a 1990 S2 Cabriolet….a gift to myself in 2004 when I turned 50 and made O-6 in the Navy. I drive it only during late spring to early fall (I live in western Massachusetts). Sadly, getting ready to put her back in storage for next six months. I love seeing these things on the road! So, thanks for saving the soul of yet another! And Bravo-Zulu…..on another great video.

    Funny how casually you mention that new vacuum hose under the intake. I replaced that same one recently and was like - holy cow this little hose is only available from Porsche and is over 100 dollars!

    Love your videos, really inspiring. How do you install the Porsche badges on the early cars since the nose panel is welded down? Thanks in advance.

    • @edredas
      @edredas  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are rubber grommets in the nose panel that hold the badge in place using tension. No nuts or anything is used on those. I hope that helps!

    Well done! When you popped the hood I was initially thinking, “This one looks pretty clean,” and then with the covers off, “Oh man!” I’m beginning to feel like most of these that have sat for awhile really could benefit from a full engine rebuild.
    So many little items to care for on this one, I’m wondering how long you guys had it from intake to delivery?

    • @edredas
      @edredas  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It definitely wouldn’t hurt. I thought for sure it was going to need a rear main seal but I guess we got lucky. However it likely is just a matter of time. That said, I want to say that his was close to a year, or at least ten or eleven months. Thanks!

    Do you have a recommendation on where to buy replacement carpet for a 944? Thanks

    • @edredas
      @edredas  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’ve never had much luck with reproduction carpets. They always seem baggy and ill fitting since the factory carpet was molded. So we will often get used carpet from a parts breaker that’s in good shape. That said, if you want brand new carpet try only944.com. However if you don’t mind used try plyhammers Porsche or 944 barn. Good luck!

    Great videos like always! I wish you were local to me in southeast Texas. Can you help me out with any tips or where to start?? I have an early 85' 944 and my tach does not work but the GPH does. I've looked under the dash in the driver's footwell and don't see any disconnected wires/ harnesses. PO said "it was a good day when the tach worked". Where do I go from here?? I want my tach to work!!!

    • @edredas
      @edredas  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The early Tachometers are a common issue. The only thing you can really do when they don't work anymore is replace them. Contact Elliott at 944 barn about getting a good used one and that should fix your issue. His email is egrafton944@hotmail.com
