Glad Peter sorted you out with the squares. Nice little build.
Yes, thanks for the heads up Paul. The squares make life a lot simpler for sure!
Great video and lots of detail -- but I'd love to see this actually using **basic** tools. Hand saw, plane, chisels, etc. - fundamental carpentry. The power tools you used require a huge outlay, that means this is in no way a feasible project for a beginner.
Thanks mate. I’m not really a hand tools guy to be honest. Buying good quality hand tools can also be quite expensive and keeping a sharp edge is a skill in itself.
I did a basic tools video where I advised on buying 5 key tools that you could build a table with and used a second hand circular saw for it with some other basics. The total outlay for all these tools would be well under £100 which is a good place to get started. It’s as much about being clever with your materials as it is the tools. Big sheet goods are much harder to break down than pre-planed and sized timber boards.
Here’s the 5 tools video: th-cam.com/video/j3iPC_QrU3k/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Slk4QJ5Szh8Idtqb
And here’s the side table video (it includes free plans): th-cam.com/video/RdUGW1QIQN0/w-d-xo.htmlsi=MXpJ-wMwS3axropt
Hope these might help mate.
@@lionandbearThanks for the links!
What time of hinge did you use?
I used Hafele 110° soft close concealed 64mm hinges. Here’s the link: www.screwfix.com/p/hafele-steel-110-soft-close-clip-on-concealed-hinges-64mm-2-pack/9205j
Your miter saw platform flexing like that cant be good. You might consider bracing that boss. Other than that, great video.
Yeah it’s only a roughy and ready one until i get something sorted but you know what it’s like. You do something quick and temporary and then end up keeping it like that for far too long 😂🤦♂️
