    Great review Richard. Nice to see regular cars being reviewed.

      Thanks Andrew, not that we'd say no to a Ferrari, but it's much more important to review 'regular' cars for people.

      I wouldn't say no to a Ferrari either :)

    great car. been driving Toyota's since I got my first a starlet in 1998 loved it and had starlets and yaris' since. I would like to see the 1.2turbo go under the bonnet tho. that would be great!

    I find mine drives well around town but on poor road surfaces or on a windy day it dances almost uncontrollably! Side winds are not your friend in a Yaris! Also the warranty is next to useless as whenever something has gone wrong on my 2016 car Toyota have refused to pay out. As a customer you can't even speak to warranty claims, and the dealer who I was towed to refused to call them on my behalf. When the finance is up it will not be replaced with another Toyota! Good review though you clearly take the time to understand a car rather than judging it off what everyone else says!

    Thats a very short paintwork warranty at only 3 years. Any concerns with Toyota paint finish or rust?

    looks more attractive than its counterpart from ASEAN

    "The infotainment is the main attraction....!"
    No, it isn`t....well, maybe to a narrative driven would-be journo, not to a driving instructor.
    The main attraction is.....low insurance, reasonably nippy, very reliable, handles ok, decent mpg, holds it`s value, reasonable service intervals etc.
    Only bit of tech of any use on the infotainment on the Icon is (For ease of bay parking)...the reversing camera.....was it mentioned?

      Your 4K iMac/MacBook will handle it. Your internet speed is whats lacking you. 4K Video requires a minimum of 8Mbps download and 12Mbps is reccomended.

      Thanks for clearing that Dylan, it works fine on our test devices at 4k.

    I had the 2005 Yaris before i got the 2016 one, i really really detest the current dashboard when compared with the older models central display (phased out as older people didnt like it, morons (i'm 50 so don't get stroppy))... mileage is better though. :-)

      Has a 2002 1.3L 4sp auto for 14yrs & now a 2015 1.3L CVT, i do agree with you. Best i got for the new Yaris CVT was 58mpg which is great as the old Yaris i got best 49mpg.

    I was shopping between a Yaris and Auris(outgoing model, so very good deals), but decided on a Hyundai I20, looks better, better cabin materials and nicer to look at and be in + very good to drive.
    Toyota could do with a stylist, specially the interiors are very ugly and the materials look cheap.

    • @jayman7037

      Agreed. Toyota needs a European design chief like kia has done. I think its chief designer is chinese.

      @@jayman7037 The cars definitely look more Chinese oriented!

    Needs better engines like the new 1.2 turbo which replaced the 1.33 litre in the Auris, alas not available in the Yaris. IMO that would make it more competitive. As it stands, not very good IMO!

    • @TheDominator74
      @TheDominator74 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      MelCanuck Did it replace the 1,33? Not in Finland. Own both the Auris 1.2 turbo and the 1,33 yaris. As a citycar the 1,33 is fine as it is.

    • @MelCanuck
      @MelCanuck 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, i understand Toyota will not replace the 1.33 in the Yaris with the 1.2 Turbo. This compares with the Honda Jazz which should be getting the 1.0 Turbo from the new Civic (which produces 125hp in the Civic). Yes, the 1.33 Yaris is fine, but could be much better!

    40-45 mpg? You definitely don’t know how to drive a manual economically doing such numbers.

    It's a bit outdated really, they've updated the looks but that interior is horrible, as with all previous yaris' (Yari?)

    Tempted by its reliability , but completely put off by its styling, especially the truly nasty dashboard.
