  • In this video we show you how we strip our boat's cabin of all its carpet then clean the cabin walls in order to prepare for paint. We discuss the special tools we use to make the job easier. We use 3 coats of rustoleum topside paint to completely cover the boat cabin.
    In addition, we show you how we restore out boat cabin door. We show you how we sanded the doors, then used a special cleaner to prep the doors for teak oil.
    Lastly, we install the doors and show you the finished product,

      Thank you! We got lucky! If not we’d have to buy more starboard and the price of that stuff is getting ridiculous!🍻

    When i did my cabin and sanded i ran a 6 inch vent duct pipe thru window and had a inline grow room extractor fav pulling all the dust out of the air Fast!!!! I still had mask but it was 100% the way to do that.

      @redartisanwolf6716 oh bad ass! Absolutely make videos and post them! People love all that and they can learn from it! Not sure we’re youre located, I’m guessing up north east coast, we’re blessed with year round boating down here. Check out the latest video we did about FGCI fiberglass store, it can help with your project too. Lots of info! 🤙

    Great idea to work around sanding in between the louvers. I'll do it for mine here soon. Question for you though. I see people ripping out the carpet and painting all the time. It looks great, but I always wondered if the cabin walls would sweat when you wake up in the morning just like it would when you wake up after sleeping outside in a tent. Do you find yourself waking up with sweaty cabin walls in the morning?

    • @perfectfitboating
      @perfectfitboating  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hey Andrew! We haven’t experienced that, but we actually put ac in the cabin. What we are going to do is put up a mold resistant headliner because as it sits it traps a lot of dirt and mold making it look ugly and smelly. The company is called sailright and they sell the fabric by the. Yard! 🤙

    I am in the same process. Removed my carpet out of my Sea Fox. I am using the same tool but I have a 5" steel brush on a angle grinder. I will switch to 3 inch and the drill when I get to the ceiling.

    • @perfectfitboating
      @perfectfitboating  ปีที่แล้ว

      Man I gotta tell you. This was one of the WORST parts of building this boat. It was absolutely awful! Years of crap built up and all the dust from the work we had done from ripping the stringers out. Use PPE and Godspeed lol hope it comes out awesome! 🤙🍻

    • @darrisb1727
      @darrisb1727 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@perfectfitboatingMy Sea Fox I think I grind about 15 minutes and was tired as hell. Still ongoing, I do a few sections at a time. I rebuilt a 79 weekender Grady 19ft. I did transom, stringers up until the helm. I had a thread in iboats forum doing the build. The rest was ok under the cabin. Added sister joints to attach the stringers to the original stringer. Laid the deck and added the floatation foam. I did not paint, sold the boat and bought the 24ft Sea Fox as it had everything I needed. I was trying to add live well and bigger gas tank in the grady and realized it would not fit. Went from 19 gallon tank in the grady to a 120 gallon in the fox. Gosh

    • @perfectfitboating
      @perfectfitboating  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Man that sounds like a huge project! At least you have everything you need now in the bigger sea fox. I feel 24ft is the perfect sized boat for a single person or couple to handle.
      We’ll be doing the transom within the next two weeks before we hang a 4 stroke on this one! 🤙

      @@perfectfitboating I am just upgrading some items in the Sea Fox. Wiring, battery placements from stern to the cabin. I have foam stringers and composite transom in the Sea Fox should not have to worry about rot. I like 2 strokes less work when putting the boat up for a few months but would like to get a 4.

    Hey. I’m watching a few of your videos. It’s probably a bit late. But they have Tia stuff. It’s a penetrating Apoxsee. You drill small holes about 2” apart. Then you inject it into the rot. I bought a quart for a soft section on my transom. I haven’t used it yet but everything I hear says it’s even stronger then the original. Expensive though. But a big time saver. And never rot again. My project is definitely on a lower scale.

    • @perfectfitboating
      @perfectfitboating  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey thanks for that tip! I recently found some more rot on the bow of the boat where the anchor holder is and I’ll more than likely use that so thank you for that! Just subbed to your channel that’s a nice Grady you got. Alieys parents just found one like that for a steal! I think it’s a 19 dual console with a 115! Sweet little boat!

      @@perfectfitboating thanks. Yes it’s a nice boat. Big deck area. Perfect for my area. In Rhode Island. And off the coast of Newport. I ordered that penetrating Apoxsee on amazon. Was hear in two days. A few TH-cam videos on it. Pretty interesting. Good luck with boat. I’ll be looking for new videos to see it in the water

      Hey John thank you so much for the tip and for sharing the video! Definitely cheaper!
      Since we’ve been using the boat, we’re thinking of using a mildew and mold resisten carpet. We just get way too much mildew here in south Florida.
      Thanks for the comment! 🤙
