This isn’t like a marine plywood or coosa transom. When you pour, there’s a chemical bond with all sides of the fiberglass making it one piece. The outer skin, inside skin and the sides. So there is no “weaker side”. You can’t peel this stuff off like you would be able to peel off layes of glass off plywood or coosa.

I have to agree. Anyone buying a new boat today should be doing a factory tour to see how the boat is made at every step. I think what’s more impressive with this boat is that it’s lasted so long without more rot. 🤙

We bring a bbq, propane tanks, generator, skillet, we have a bucket with a toilet seat and kitty litter that goes with a portable changing room. Hatch Air conditioner. Cabin mattress and all the fittings. Lots of fresh water. Fishing and diving equipment. A stern anchor. That sounds like most of it!

It was a coin flip really. But after doing some more research and another transom (we have a new video pouring another transom) carbon core and arjay 6011 are off gassing material which means you don’t have to worry about voids. With sea cast you’ll have to tap the transom with a mallet to make sure you get the air bubbles out. Also, carbon core and arjay are smooth pours. Sea cast is a little thicker because you add a chopped material to it making it a little harder to pour. Still a great product. Many have used sea cast. here in the comments people have had great success with it. Hope that helps! 🤙

I think it’s slightly better but go to FGCI’s website, their link is in the bio, and they have the prices up for 1/2”,3/4”,1” and 1.5” in sheets of 8’x4’. We love it!

We yanked it out by hand. It’s not foamed in so it came out fairly easy.

@perfectfitboating I have s 2981 G.W 24 offshore, and I unleavened it with tge ropes it looked like it was being held by.but it appears that it's stuck by foam .that's why I ask .also would like to rewire ir ...ant suggestions. I'm new to this

@nwrx247 is your tank in the rear or front compartment? If it’s in the rear you have more space to get leverage. I’d try to take out as much foam as possible first. Dig as much of it out as you can. Then if possible find a long enough piece of wood to go across the beam of the boat on both gunnels. Then tie straps to the fill and the pickup tube and tie that to a come along on that beam. Slowly ratchet up till it comes loose. Foam is a bear to release so try and get as much of it out as you can. Hope that helps!

We originally setup a standup portable ac unit. We have a video on that you can check out. We’ve since upgraded to a cruisair marine hatch ac. Haven’t used it yet but we’re getting ready to use it for a trip at the end of the month! 🤙

I have to agree. It’s a 26’ boat for that much money. Don’t get me wrong it’s beautiful. But it’s a lot of money. The beam on the Orion is smaller no doubt. I have to say the roll might be rougher but maybe that flotation bracket helps some. I know that hull is the formula hull that rides amazing so it’s compromise for sure. That’s also why it’s so fuel efficient being a 29 ft boat. Thanks for commenting brother! 🤙

@@perfectfitboating For the price they are asking I just cant justify even with the attention to detail. Its still a hand laid hull. This is why I have been leaning Cobia and sportsman since they use the Varis system when building the hull. its the same system that everglades, Seavee and front runner use when creating the hull. My buddy has the 295 everglades its 6 years old and we fish it real hard. Now things are breaking like hardware drawers which is expected no matter what quality build it is. having said that the structural integrity of the hull and ride is whats important you cant really beat the mid tier boats that are using the high end boat process without the price tag. Trust me when I say this my dream boat is the 29b Seavee but its way out of my price range. If I could afford it no doubt I would pull that trigger regardless of price.

I hear ya. We’ll be doing some factory tours soon on a lot of local boats here in Miami to show more of the build process and to give people an idea of how these boats are built. We’d love to do multiple brands to compare them. I’ve been on a 32 Seavee and man, what an amazing ride. There’s a reason they cost so much more than these other boats. They’re top of the line.

We filled the cap with structural putty not gelcoat. No need to glass it’s not going anywhere. Edit: I think you meant to say the gunnels. I understood cap to be where the transom meets the cap. We glassed on the underside of the gunnels, filled the gap with structural putty and finally filled the rest with gelcoat.

Thanks Dave! We actually upgraded our outboard to a Suzuki 250! We cruise at 30mph and get around 3.2-3.5 mpg depending on the load! We love it!🤙
