As someone that has 6 Ferrets every single thing you said is Spot on. Mental Health especially I have NEVER bonded with an animal Before I had a ferret. They are the sunshine in my dark days!
My husband and I are thinking of getting a ferret, I’ve always wanted a pet ferret. I’ve been doing some research and I came across this one article saying they don’t make good pets and they are prone to cancer and other genetic health problems and insurance for them is expensive. Have you had any health issues with your ferrets? I’d rather ask someone who has experience with ferrets.
@@andreabautista53 I have 3 ferrets. Everything you said is true [except that they don't make good pets]. They are prone to cancer and other genetic problems. My first ferret was a 4 year old rescue. She was deaf and the sweetest thing- loved to cuddle and never bit. She got adrenal cancer within 4 months of getting her and we only had her a year before having to let her go. The meds cost about $100 a month and didn't work. But she set in our love for ferrets. It's worth it. We have 3 currently who are healthy and sweet and love to run and play. Insurance depends where you are. Canada doesn't offer any. I've seen people in the states pay only $20-30 a month. But you'd want to make sure things like adrenal or insulomna are covered. It is pretty inevitable that a ferret from marshalls will end up sick in it's older years. There are preventative measures. Check out holistic ferret forum and facebook for some good info. We are so smitten with our little friends we will always have one in our life. Each is very different in personality. I'd recommend if you do decide to get one to start with a male- they are much more laid back [even then it's like having a toddler run around] but my current little girl is a firecracker and that's pretty common. Boys also seem better at the litter box. The better you feed them the less they will smell. Raw is best but there are also ferret food charts for kibble. I brought home my eldest boy and bonded with him for 6 months before getting another. It's made him very sweet and cuddly but he was also getting a little restless and bored. We were having to go out for more walks to help his mental stimulation. When I bought home my other boy it was instant love and they've been inseparable since. I found it easier with two [or three even]. There's not as much "mom look what I can do." They still include me in everything but it helps that mental stimulation and they keep each other a bit more occupied. Good luck with your research and don't let the bad scare you!
I know this sounds weird, but one of the things that helps the bonding process is how helpless they are without you. They are like sheep in the sense that thru domestication, they have lost so many of their wild skills, they are totally dependent on you. I don't think I've ever seen a more clumsy animal lol. This is somewhat less with European ferrets as they are not Marshall ferrets, but unless they have some wild polecat in them, I doubt even they would survive in the wild. Contrast this with a cat, who while domesticated, can still survive for more than 5 minutes in the wild. This makes the fact they are illegal in CA so beyond stupid. Anyone who has spent more than 10 minutes around ferrets will know there is no way they could disrupt an ecosystem or form a ferral colony.
1. They'll make you smile a lot. 2. They'll make you smile a lot. 3. They'll make you smile a lot. 4. They'll make you smile a lot. 5. They'll make you smile a lot.
I just want to say I appreciate the modern ferret very much. You got me into ferrets! I started following your Instagram account before Newt and Albert arrived and I am enjoying seeing Elijah now. Keep up being an awesome ferret ambassador
Was a ferret owner from 1986 to 2018. Ferrets can be your best buddy ever. Ferrets are party animals. Ferrets love you hard. Ferrets know you better than you think. When you are feeling down, they KNOW. Also a PTSD sufferer myself-when you aren't OK, they will either get extra silly to make you laugh or cuddle extra. They KNOW. Also- Elderly Ferrets have mellowed out and just want to hang out with you. That's when you get all the cuddles you wanted when they were too busy. In the 80s, we called dooking chuckling.
Very true! The play hard, sleep hard, and love hard. Chuckling definitely fits more. Sounds like they're laughing. And people that don't have ferrets always think "dooking" means "taking a dooky" lol
My ferret is hell on wheels! He steals anything rubber or silicone! Never wants to cuddle and knocks over drinks and steals soda cans and baby bottles!
I have been a ferret dad for 8 years, I can only say that if one is infected by the ferret virus there is no way back. I now have a Dutch Shepherd and he is a darling, very intelligent but cannot match a ferret. I think your channel is fun and educational for new ferret parents. Keep up the good work.
We (as in "my wife") have 7 rescues and they all have individual personalities, I have lots of scars from Winnie who doesn't like men but she still let's me cuddle her when she's in the right mood. People need to realise they can have bad days will bite if they're feeling of. Thanks for all the positive vibes you're giving X
My ferret Lily escaped last night, through a small opening in the closed doggy door. It was late, dark and cold. I searched and called, all through my neighbors yards. Finally, around midnight, I gave up for the night. I left the doggy door open, turned on all the outdoor lights, and went to bed. I woke up every time a leaf fell from a tree. Long night. I woke up at 5am, thinking I heard her in my chest of drawers, ( she likes to sleep there), and went for a quick potty break before starting my search for her again. Then, I heard a pan rattle in the cabinet. I rushed to the kitchen, and she was calmly standing in the middle of the floor. I’ve never been so glad I let her play and dig in the yard, ( dragging a leash with bells), and allow her to walk herself home when she gets tired. She found her way home, from wherever she had her adventure safely. I’ll be double sure to check the doggy door from now on.
I had the same fearful experience with all three of my little thieves but since most people in the area knew us, we were extremely lucky to get them back. Just when you’re sure the place is ferret-proof, they’ll prove you wrong.
@@janellehoney-badger6525 we have 5 adults in our house. No children. 5 dogs, mostly seniors. 3 cats, all middle age. And one 2 1/2 year old ferret. The ferret is the smartest. I’ve never seen so much curiosity, courage and determination. If she thinks she can, she will. If she does, she will never forget and will do it again. I’m so in love with my chaos noodle. By accident, i found she will react to squeaky toys. Now, when we go for an unleashed walk in the yard, and she is either escaping the fence, or doing something dangerous, I squeak the toy. She immediately stops. Another squeak, and she runs to me. Several squeaks, and she runs back in the house, or attacks my ankles. In any case, her escapes are pretty much solved with the squeaker. Even if she manages to escape the fence, I can call her to me with the squeaker.
Wow that has to be surreal levels of relief. The idea of these sweet animals being left to die in the wild because of an unfortunate accident is so sad. I love these beautiful creatures
@@spencersedivy-q7s this morning, on our yard walk, I can see her playing with what I thought was small piece of wood. I don’t follow her every step, the way I used to. I’m pretty aware of her possible escape routes, and I wear the squeaker on a cord around my neck. So she was a good 30 feet away from me, playing with her new toy. We have cats, and they are all killers, in the manner of cats. I thought I better get a closer look, might be a dead rat or something. It was a frog. A live, fat, healthy, stupid frog. Just sitting there, letting her claw and bite at it. That ended that morning walk. I brought her inside, under protest,to give the stupid frog time to go somewhere else. It did, and our second walk wasn’t marred by frog play. She did look for her new frog, but she couldn’t find the stupid thing. I have no idea if slime is a bad thing for a weasel, and you can bet, Lily doesn’t know either. Better to keep the frog and Lily separate.
I have had ferrets since 1988, can’t imagine life without one. Bruni is my current ferret, he will be 9 mo old in Dec. My last ferret was Sanuk & he was my Love, snuggled with me all the time, loved car rides & was so good with other people. Love your videos, very informative 💞
Any time one of my ferrets died, I rushed out and bought another one the next day, couldn't imagine a day without a ferret roaming around my house. My ferrets have been leash-trained since 9 weeks old, and I walk my current one 6-8 blocks every night.
@@michaelellringer5600I want to walk mine sooo bad... But my new girl is one of those ferrets with the very skinny, slinky type of build. I got the safest halter I could find, but I'm still so afraid she'll get spooked by something and somehow slip out! =( Any secret tips?
@@Anne_Onymous I had much more luck leash walking my male ferrets, a more difficult time walking my female ferrets. Being they're nocturnal, try walking your ferret at night, long after the sun goes down. Any time I try and walk my ferret in the day time, they try and pull me back to the house. Right now, with the heat, and ferrets being heat sensitive, I walk my ferret at the coolest time of the day, 3-4am, here in Tucson. Any time above 75 degrees you're putting your ferret in danger.
@@Anne_Onymous Female ferrets have climbing skills that male ferrets don't have. My poor male ferret, he tries so hard to climb a tree, he only gets about 2 feet upwards then comes crashing down. I have a female ferret who climbed my rose trellis beside the house and climbed up to the roof.
As a ferret owner for 35plus years I'm hooked. Keeping these is a long learning curve with so many different personalities. My wish is to find a completely safe way to stop jills coming in season. Summer is miserable for my ladies unless they are bred. My vet refuses to neuter any ferret and I've reservation about chemical implants.
I enjoy my evening leash walks around the University of AZ/Tucson with my ferret, he's good for 6-8 blocks a night. Since I've never, in 30 years, ran into someone else walking their ferret, we draw lots of attention, selfies, video's. Love hearing the comments: Seeing your ferret made my whole day! Being able to hold your ferret is the happiest day of my life! So nice to see you walking your ferret around the University at night.
I'm 100% in love w my ferrett.. I also have a cat & dog & they all live & play 2gether..ferrett & cat sleep on my bed every night. I put a cat door on my bedroom door which has been great. Love ur videos, thanks !!!
I read the weasel war dance is used to disorient and hypnotize potential predators. I think these critters have us all hypnotized 😂 but I don't mind. My 3 have easily captured my ❤️
My family recently had the immense pleasure of meeting Haley and her ferret, Elijah. Our exchange student from Thailand is taken with the ferrets at Petco, so, thinking it would be a cool Christmas gift for her, we began searching for someone local who had a ferret that she could meet. It just so happens that we live in the same city as Haley, and we found her thanks to my wife's connections in the local pet world, and Haley was gracious enough to invite us to her home for a visit. Haley is just as friendly and wonderful as she seems in her videos! I think we spent an hour and a half at her home, where we got to hold Elijah and watch him frolic in his ferret-proofed backyard wonderland. I also peppered Haley with every ferret question I could think of. They seem like very cool, very fun pets, and I just might have to get one -- someday. ;-) Thank you, Haley, for helping to make our exchange student's Christmas and American experience so memorable! (And yes, you'll be getting some photos and videos of Elijah from us.) :P
I have 2 ferrets that act as my ESA, I am diagnosed BiPolar1,cPTSD and Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder,Disassociative Identity Disorder with suicidal ideation. The ferrets force me to refocus my destructive thinking onto caring about them. Because I need to focus my attention outside of myself,it reroutes the ideation so I am able to function semi- normally throughout my day.
I JUST GOT 3 FERRETS!!! I’m so excited 😆!! Your videos helped me so much to take care of them!!! The girl is Bella on of the boys is pickle and the other boy is Peanut
Greetings from the former, and soon, the future owner of the ferrets! I really like what you tell and explain, it is very interesting, despite my 10-year experience in keeping ferrets, like companions, it is still interesting to always learn something new for myself. Thank you!
My ferret Trixie also loves to cuddle-- and her favorite toys are her plush hedgehogs. Love your channel, keep up the good work educating people about these wonderful creatures!
If you’re getting a ferret expecting cuddles, mine personally doesn’t until she’s ready to nap then she’ll come snuggle under the blankets but she’s still young only 5 months old so that might definitely be part of it. First ferret so definitely don’t let my comment discourage you. I’m so in love with my ferret she’s brought so many laughs
i have only had one Ferret "Fern", we got her when i was about 8 which is way back in 1980 and we had her til i was 16 and she got a brain tumor. back then it was devastating to me because from 8 to 16 felt like my entire life and now she was gone, but now 8 years feels like such a short time to lose a pet you love which is why i have never had another one or another cat since i lost my last one like 12 years ago. i STILL miss Fern and think about her, she was so playful and goofy and incredibly sweet. but i cant have pets any more it hurts too much for too long.
My daughter bought one 2 months ago, she named her Stinker because of the smell legend. She is the sweetest animal in existence and she doesn’t stink at all. She runs around the house like she has ADHD but pauses to love on everyone. Best pet ever!!
So nice to remember my 3 Little Thieves, on seeing your video. We adopted one girl, who’d bite me but not my partner - Daddy’s girl, I guess. Then we adopted 2 boys & the size difference was a shock but they got on like old mates. Boston was the oldest male, we figured his age to be close to 13! He seemed to be more mature than us, it only seemed that way. The stuff they stole from us was endless. They were the most incredible animal buddies we’ve had. They sadly passed away after 10, 13 & 15yrs. It was too much to bear for us to adopt anymore, especially after Mex developed a lung infection & our vet was on holidays. With no other small animal vets around at that time, it was terrible. We located a vet over 2hrs away but the treatment came too late. Do your research into every health issue then go above & beyond to avoid these problems, cos they deserve our love & respect, all our animals do. I haven’t adopted another animal in over 15yrs now, I feel that I let him down. I enjoy the native visitors to our yard & look out for any injured ones in need of help. Thanks for sharing the happy moments.
Thanks for all the great info, it has really helped me with my own ferrets. I also wanted to ask where did you get the tube tunnels that you have set up on your wall? I would love to get some for my guys.
I am on my 7th ferret over 32 years . One at a time , Each has had free run of the house. Your video is just perfect. But I found that the younger the ferret is when you adopt them, the better the chance of bonding. When I adopt at 8 weeks they love to sleep in my shirt all day while at my desk. The current ferret, I adopted at 5 months old and she isn’t this close to me.,the first ferret was my best friend for 7 years. I still miss her to this day . She was pure joy and so smart . Keep Yo The great work educating people about these fur bundles of joy.
My grandma had a ferret rescue up in Alaska for people who didn’t want theirs anymore. She would take them in and take care of them until they passed. My grandmother would be taking care of as many as 15 at a time. SO many different little personalities. I even had my own special ferret who i called Snoopy. I built him a little dog type house and he would sleep on top of it. I eventually glued Woodstock to the top. I shared tons of fond memories with her and these fuzzy little dudes. Missing both today.
Ahhh!! It's so good to see new vids again. I used this channel among others to help me research if a ferret was the right pet for me. I now have three. I want more. ROFL.
I would love to do a ferret related video with you! I have Riggatoni and Marzcapone as my two ferrets. I think it would be cool to see the side of ferrets from the perspective of a Paramedic and a Nurse :) My female ferret, Marza, is deaf but I always hold her to my throat when I sing. Vibrations and all. Loves it :)
My deaf ferret, Costello, was the love of my life and probably the smartest ferret we ever owned. He was the only ferret who figured out how to use sound to call me -- I always suspected he could sense the vibrations.
Can you tell and show us the tubes connected to the wall and the tube mounts and stuff becauss i want to do that for my ferrets but i dont know where to get them and just every exact product you use and do a tour and in description give every single product you use also i love your channel i love ferrets and your the reason i got into it my ferrets names are Noodle Nugget Peanut I hope your channel keeps growing and you and your ferrets are healthy i think your the best ferret owner anyone can have Your videos have helped me so much with the care of my ferrets
Got 5 fuzzies and have had them from a little over a year now, got them from my cousins who couldn't focus on that many ferrets and young kids at the same time. They're absolute, delightful menaces. Going to work every morning is always full of them excitedly attacking my legs and trying to come with me before I go. Coming home is them refusing to let me go until they're too tired to weasel war dance, so they steal where I sleep on my bed instead. For as long as I can afford to, I'm always going to have ferrets in my life
I’m going to my first ferret show in about two weeks! I’m super excited and can’t wait to see what it’s like. I’m entering my rescue ferret in a few rings!
Just want to say thank you I have two ferrets now and because of your knowledge I am so much more equipped to handle these beautiful friends of mine they mean so much to me
One of the favorite lairs mine frequent is under my dresser, and my youngest will push open every other drawer from inside and climb them like stairs until she's at the top
Just FYI: The reason people think ferrets smell is because in Europe you can buy them when they have NOT been de-scented. Those ferrets still have their scent gland and those secretions do have a strong smell. In the US, most ferrets are sold having already undergone two surgeries: to remove the scent gland and to "alter" (spay or neuter) them. That's why you see two "dots" tattooed in a ferret's ear. Each dot is for a surgery they have undergone. Clearly, I am the proud owner of ferrets and have been for decades. Aside from ferrets we purchased at stores, our family also took in unwanted ferrets for many years. My point is that I have experience in owning dozens of ferrets. I feel all of the information provided here is completely accurate and I appreciate the quality of this informational video. I just subscribed and I have never subscribed to anything else before.
Where did you get those blue tubes behind you!?! They are so cool! I’ve been buying the see through 4 inch tubes off Amazon and they are really expensive. I’d love to do something similar to what you’ve done, mount them to the wall. Anywho, thanks!
So glad to see you back you and Mose are the reason I feel in love with our. Thank you. Sorry for the lose Mose he will be missed🥰 Which one is the training video
@@TheModernFerret I heard the Marshall Ferrets and Petco ferrets are notorious bad in health. I heard that private breeders produce the healthiest/healthier ferrets than pet mills breeders.
IMO people get turned off by ferrets thinking they smell bad but they really don't if you take care of them. Water baths, consistent litter changes, and cleaning their bedding often keeps even small apartments (like mine) from smelling at all. I actually think my cats litterbox room smells worse than our ferret cage.
My cats litter box never smells. With correct sand. And they are 2. So ot makes me worried for the ferret girl I am considering because of they say them smell.
@linaulnes7498 I meant it to say that the smell of a litter box that a cat uses is more noticeable than a ferret cage, but that's when you take care of them. Obviously, like any other animal, if you neglect their hygiene, they're going to smell bad. But I have 4 ferrets in a 2-story cage in my living room and you'd never know they were there because we take care of them. They have litter pans cleaned out multiple times a week, the cage liners are taken out and scrubbed down once a month, and their bedding is usually washed every 1 1/2 weeks. They don't smell the way people expect them to, I think some people have a bad impression of ferrets because they met one being cared for by somebody who didn't take care of the hygiene part of pet ownership. Imagine the first dog you ever met hadn't been bathed in a month, was regularly outside, and you got the impression that all dogs were big, slobbery, stinky animals and swore off ever owning one. It's the same scenario with ferrets, not a lot of people own them, and some people don't take care of them properly, so when people actually do see a ferret for the first time and are around one, they get the impression that all ferrets must be nasty, smelly animals because the owner doesn't look after them.
As long as it isn't rubber they should be fine. I use a waterproof fabric that I sewed into a cube. It works wonders! I'd also suggest getting some ferret cage pan liners depending on what cage you have. I also sewed those and they've really helped.
I like ferret smell 😅❤ Great video, very informative. Ferrets accompany me since 2007. These are wonderful animals. Even if I love dogs too, ferrets are special and unique. The best pets ❤
did anyone else watch the cons video first before the pros video? lol I already decided after the cons video and some care videos that this is the right pet for me.
i recently got a ferret an have an issue she wont eat anything but the pellets she grew up on i have tried chicken, 5 different flavors and brands of treats, coconut oil, salmon oil, and even some dried liver treats that i happened upon. i am just curios if you have any suggestions
I recently got feret virus when i saw some at pet shop. I cant wait till i get up to 4. I want 4 so i can name them merry pippin fordo and same 😂. Is their any way to ferret proof apartment or make it at least safer?
Hello, I've been doing some research because I want to buy a ferret and I want to be a good ferret owner. Someone in my city is giving one up for adoption, the lady says she's a very sweet ferret, but she's 5 years old. Do you guys think it's a good idea to adopt a 5 year old ferret if it's the first ferret I'd own?
Loved this video, was so absorbed in all you said. Unless you are blessed with being an actual ferret owner, one can't have a clue about how much fun they truly are. Actually that is a misnomer; just watch ferret videos and their ridiculous antics. I liked your comment describing them as "joyful menaces"...ferrets in a nutshell.
When you said funny I was like not mine. One try’s to bite my foot off by they are still young. So I’m not expecting them to be fun loving all of that.
I have 4 disabilitys, and what you said rang true about yer friends, i wake up at night somtimes from nightmares or night terrors unfortunately from P.T.S.D from being homeless for 10 years plus. I get meds, sure, or speak to a great therapist as my duties to ensure healing in my community and supportive towards others that are the same.well, the new ferrets have given me a happy wake up in the middle of the night till it passes. I feel stronger with there help!! 😮😂🦡🐾🦦🐾🌹
Lifespan as a pro threw me for a bit of a loop. Curious the quality of life ferrets, with no medical issues, above the age of 6 have? Only had one reach 6 but he had been diagnosed with cancer a year prior that, unlike my others who got dealt lymphoma, progressed slowly. Around the age of 4 is when pet store ferrets' age seems to catch up with them and they have to slow down or face injury. Kept round pet beds the ferrets used unwashed for smelling purposes to help work through the grief period. Surprised no mention of grape tail. Was me and my mother's favorite smell that they produced! Worst unanimously had to be the ear wax! Even our vet is impressed with how bad it smells.
I have gone so interested into ferrets that im starting a gaming channel about ferrets! I love Ferrets lot and they do not deserve to be very low popular
Know where they are at before you use a bed, seat or step on a rug or anything. Had two long ago, they loved to find a way into clothes dressers, furniture, bags & anything on the floor, then go to sleep. If they find a comfy dark space exploring, they may just decide to nap there on the spot.
I’ve had ferrets my whole life, more or less. I agree with everything she said. But this whole time I’ve been lucky enough to only ever had three Sick ones. Two had to be put to sleep at the vets, that was heartbreaking, one has adrenal implant.
Oh, it is both and I miss my ferret terribly. High school, my parents got us a ferret, Bandit. He attacked everyone's toes but mine. Instead, he would bounce down the hall, huffing and puffing and then just lay down, looking up to me until I caught up. He would nibble on the hands of everyone that picked him up. Not me, he loved me petting him. He quickly became my ferret and his care, cleaning and feeding became mine and I never once complained. Then one day when I let him out of his cage to run around, I didn't notice him after a while. I lifted up the couch and chairs and started looking in drawers. There, under the sink, was a hole. The floor was particle board that rotted away from water dripping down onto it. And once Bandit fell down there, there was no way up but a way outside. I blocked it and checked for days but he was gone.

I've kept ferrets the majority of my adult life and I actually think they make quite good apartment pets, but can be really challenging in a whole home. It's so much harder to keep them out of trouble in a big house than in an apartment consisting of a couple of rooms. Of course if your apartment has holes in the walls anywhere even very small ones it can get weird. My downstairs neighbor once rang my doorbell to tell me my ferret had come down to her apartment to visit her. Meanwhile my ferret had climbed back up to my apartment through the wall and was feigning innocence. Everything you say here about their personality and what makes them interesting is dead on.
On smell I think a lot of their bad reputation comes from people not cleaning the cage. They do have a smell, but the nasty stink is the uncleaned cage. The mild musk they have naturally is pleasant to most people.
Hey,I have 2 ferrets that are extremely attached attached eachother both around 2-3 years and I can no longer keep them,it's not my choice and I don't trust the petstore either because I know they'll just give them to anybody so I was wondering if you could possibly take them?I really need someone to give them to that I can trust and I know your really nice and know what your doing,I could give them to you for free so you know this isn't a scam, they're both males and named arrow and ghost, please consider❤
We used to have 8 ferrets and we love them so dearly. Now, got down to 7 because of a virus hit them. They are all dying and it really breaks our heart especially my husband. They got corona virus and the vet told us it’s not curable. 😢
Every person I’ve ever visited with Ferrets had a very smelly home. Most people keep them in kennels at night or while away from home. This means that they have to either poop and pee in the corner of the kennel in their substrate or litter box. And it is extremely pungent. They also get into everything. My friends actually somehow got inside the walls of his home and was crawling around every room inside the walls and it took days to finally get it out. I tend to enjoy pets that are trained to use the bathroom outside and I just don’t like feces being inside my home constantly. The smell of urine in their substrate and litter box is strong so it has to be constantly changed or your house will stink like a pet store. Most ferret owners get used to these smells and aren’t even aware of it. So a lot of them try to deny this. If you don’t mind your house smelling horrible and constantly cleaning up poop and urine then by all means get a ferret. Ferrets are extremely lovable and fun but you will definitely have some strange smells in the house and I don’t care how clean you think you are. I love pets but ferrets are just too smelly, even after they have had their scent glands removed. Don’t tell ferret owners this though, they get all butthurt.
As someone that has 6 Ferrets every single thing you said is Spot on. Mental Health especially I have NEVER bonded with an animal Before I had a ferret. They are the sunshine in my dark days!

They still include me in everything but it helps that mental stimulation and they keep each other a bit more occupied. Good luck with your research and don't let the bad scare you!
@starrsaen SQ😂❤z5472 CC❤

I walked into a customers house once and immediately said “you have ferrets don’t you?” 😂
I just want to say I appreciate the modern ferret very much. You got me into ferrets! I started following your Instagram account before Newt and Albert arrived and I am enjoying seeing Elijah now. Keep up being an awesome ferret ambassador
wow you are so sweet! I don't know if people realize how much of a different these kind comments make!
@@TheModernFerret can you do a cage tour? I just got here 🙂
Was a ferret owner from 1986 to 2018.
They KNOW.
Also-
Elderly Ferrets have mellowed out and just want to hang out with you.
They are truly unlike any pet I've ever had.
A Siamese Ferret.

Any secret tips?
@@Anne_Onymous I had much more luck leash walking my male ferrets, a more difficult time walking my female ferrets. Being they're nocturnal, try walking your ferret at night, long after the sun goes down. Any time I try and walk my ferret in the day time, they try and pull me back to the house. Right now, with the heat, and ferrets being heat sensitive, I walk my ferret at the coolest time of the day, 3-4am, here in Tucson. Any time above 75 degrees you're putting your ferret in danger.
@@michaelellringer5600 Yeah I definitely noticed a difference between the male and female personalities. I'll try thanks.

I just sat down and watched it with a hot cup of cocoa and it was just so relaxing, thanks for being awesome!
They also have (as a rule) really soft fur, which feels *wonderful* when felt! I always liked petting them.
This channel educated and prepared me so much before i got my two 8 month old Kits, I'm glad that you're back
We didn’t know what to expect when we got Cinnamon & Sassy. Now we wouldn’t trade them for anything 🤗
I couldn't agree more! They are such a blessing in my life too.

I literally expect cuddles from every pet i get :(
i have only had one Ferret "Fern", we got her when i was about 8 which is way back in 1980 and we had her til i was 16 and she got a brain tumor. back then it was devastating to me because from 8 to 16 felt like my entire life and now she was gone, but now 8 years feels like such a short time to lose a pet you love which is why i have never had another one or another cat since i lost my last one like 12 years ago. i STILL miss Fern and think about her, she was so playful and goofy and incredibly sweet. but i cant have pets any more it hurts too much for too long.
Where did you get the clear tubing in the background?? I love it!
I used al ot of your videos for information on ferrets, and now i own two! thank you for posting useful and helpful information about them!

You are back!! Welcome back :) so glad to watch a new video from the Modern Ferret!
My daughter bought one 2 months ago, she named her Stinker because of the smell legend. She is the sweetest animal in existence and she doesn’t stink at all. She runs around the house like she has ADHD but pauses to love on everyone. Best pet ever!!
Yey! I love my two ferrets! Thank you for this video 💖
Thanks for sharing the happy moments.
would love so much to get one but my home is way to small and a healthy ferret is so expensive i always love watching them and your videos
Where did you get the tubes for the wall? I would love to create tube city for mine

Thank you for sharing this information and the work you put into it 👍👍
My grandma had a ferret rescue up in Alaska for people who didn’t want theirs anymore.
Loves it :)

Love the wall tunnel how do you pit it on the wall?

@@TheModernFerret I’m so happy you responding!
Wow! that really means a lot! Thanks for contributing your comment. I hope you continue to give us your insight on future videos!!

@@dbdgirl-o3i That’s true
Where can I buy the set of tunnels you have on the wall? been searching with no luck..
Mine was a very young girl ferret and we bonded the very first day of meeting she stole my heart ♥
Hello love your ferret videos I am geting a ferret soon is it safe to get a food mat for under there food bowl will they try eating it?
As long as it isn't rubber they should be fine. I use a waterproof fabric that I sewed into a cube. It works wonders! I'd also suggest getting some ferret cage pan liners depending on what cage you have. I also sewed those and they've really helped.

Ferrets are like noodley cats :D with a lot more chaotic energy. I never had a ferret but i think they are super cute.
😢
I agree. People dont like the way they smell while people who say that have cats and Dogs- no different than them!

My Houdini was a cute, violent psychotic who feared Nothing. Except birds, he was terrified of birds. You can guess how he got the name Houdini.
Do you free roam?do you leash walk,? What is your food of choice
We used to have 8 ferrets and we love them so dearly. Now, got down to 7 because of a virus hit them. They are all dying and it really breaks our heart especially my husband. They got corona virus and the vet told us it’s not curable. 😢
