      If it’s a chipped ECU with removable chip? U can have someone or a tuner burn u a nonvtec map to run but as is it’s will run with the current ecu will just throw a CEL when u hit vtec cuz it will be looking for the vtec solenoid signal hehe

    Putting together a stock high compression b20 block with stock gsr head. Is it necessary to replace b20 oil pump for gsr oil pump or a high pressure oil pump?Aren't the b20 and gsr oil pump the same?

    • @SRDmotorsports
      @SRDmotorsports  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think its fine to run the b20 oil pump as i always ran b20 oil pump
      i think it was the 96-97 B18a/b LS that had a weaker pump that running a vtec pump helped but i also think this could be US only production LS , we never got those and 98-00 Bseries all had the same oil pump part number i think so you should be fine just make sure oil clearances on the bearings are good
      remember too loose of a clearance on the bearings = lower oil pressure too so a balance has to be achieved

    • @jaimemartinez6854
      @jaimemartinez6854 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Should I change girdle? If so what girdle should I order? Also I want to thank you for advice and help!

    • @SRDmotorsports
      @SRDmotorsports  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@jaimemartinez6854 Oh amigo if it’s a good b20 it is fine with it’s own stock main caps we have run this way no problem a lot of b20 we build that was above 9,500 rpm no problem :)
      In theory yes with girdle is better but too much work for “align bore” and “hone” of the main cap to match the b20 when you can do the extra work in balancing pistons and rods :) so you are fine if you build it carefully your b20 :)
      Even add a breather to your block would work good

    Question about the bearings. What brand of rod bearings did you use on this setup? Also for ARP rod bolts, did you resize the rod?

    • @SRDmotorsports

      Bearings = OEM Daido/Taiho

    • @kmvguy
      @kmvguy 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@SRDmotorsports Thank you for the reply! Didn’t really expect you guys to reply so quickly. When installing ARP rod bolts to the B20 rods, do you guys normally have to also resize the B20 rods for out-of-round? Or is this not really a thing?

    • @SRDmotorsports
      @SRDmotorsports  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@kmvguy no worries just so happened I was browsing when you commented 😅
      On the b20 rods there are times it’s not needed as the torque rate is close to stock 23-26ftlbs on tightening
      But on a B16,B18c 9mm rod bolts it’s a must as the torque rate is higher tightening it oem is 30-34ft lbs and ARP suggests 50ish that gets it out of round

    Wonderfull learning. ☝
    question sir. what is the performane difference of b20 non vtec local from crv gen1 to b20 from japan?

    • @SRDmotorsports
      @SRDmotorsports  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      not much really i mean local is most likely cheaper and both locals have p3f and phk
      the comp diff between the two is not as big as emphasized by jdm lodi tropas
      p3h pistoned crv is 8.9:1 and phk is 9.5:1
      il take a fresher 8.9:1 than a surplus used condition 9.5:1
