I rescued my English Mastiff at 11 months. He was neglected and has made a full 180 and is kept slim, active, and very happy. He's my big boy baby and attached to my hip. I love y big ol baby lol.
These are such great dogs and they go great with children. When we had my son, our mastiff would sit near him and let him climb all over him. My son started to walk around while holding onto things and our couch was just too high for him to climb on. So one day our mastiff was laying down against the couch, my son walked up to him. Stepped on his head, and used his head as a step stool to get onto the couch. After that my son would call him over so he could use him to get on the couch. Watcher always went and let him. Afterwards he would just look at my wife and I with a "see what i have to put up with" kind of look. Then when we had my daughter, my son showed her how to use him as a step stool to get on the couch.......... He did the same thing as he did with my son. He was very protective of the kids. I love how they let their tongues flop down and look up with their cute eyes and crinkled foreheads. Tough on the outside, big softies on the inside. Adorable dogs!
One thing I will say for owning a mastiff that I didn’t really see a lot of on the internet, literally every single person that sees them, no matter the age, is going to be impressed and/or intimidated. I haven’t had a single person see my buddy on a walk and not say something. Also get ready for a lot of questions about how old they are. They grow so fast and get so big, that people are always wondering how old they are.
I had anvery large boxer that people thought was a mastiff. I carried a spit rag everywhere we went. He was originally a gift to my husband but during the divorce, I got the kids and the dog. I was his person although he loved is all. When my granddaughter came home for the first time, he laid his head on her and just sighed. His head was bigger than the baby. He was probably the best dog I ever had. Unfortunately, boxers are prone to cancers and when it came time, I had to have him put down. He sat in my lap and ate Hershey Kisses. I miss that big old boy every day. It absolutely broke my heart! Great family dogs!

I’m so sorry you lost her! I don’t know what I’d do if we lost our Presa, Zara or one of her pups we have. She’s the biggest baby and hasn’t met anyone she hasn’t liked yet. Zero sense of personal space and just like all mastiffs, is in complete denial of her actual size! Lol. I didn’t know about the breed until we got her and now I can’t praise them enough!!
Just rescued an english mastiff puppy! He is 10 weeks old now and doing so well! We also have a five year old olde english bulldog and they get along beautifully. Our previous dog was a cane corso mastiff and was an incredible dog

I had a brindle bullmastiff just like this mastiff from the clip . he used to love walking into shoulder deep water . he never started , but he never walked away from a fight either ... he used to whine when I got late from work ... he loved to cuddle with me ... well ... those were happy years ... his name was samson . my boy , samson . I used to call him names like "little tail" or "thick snout" . I still miss him after all these four years since he passed away and I will never forget him .
Lovely to see such a sound mastiff. The owner gives a lot of common sense advice. "Listen to your dog" is one of the best pieces of advice you can give to a dog owner. My wife and I have had them for 30 years. We started with two males of slightly different ages and we found that, as long as one is a puppy when they meet, they are one of the few guard dog breeds you can have this situation with. A word of warning...these remarks apply to English Mastiffs...other mastiff breeds or crossbreds can be totally different in temperament. Also, socialize your mastiff to strange people and situations...a shy mastiff is a misery for himself and his owner for his whole life. Finally, they have huge size, but not a huge lifespan, and sometimes that means you lose your best friend before you really come to know him (or her). Still, it is better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all.
I have an American Mastiff but loved watching your video. I also like that you feed raw since a lot of people are either uneducated about the diet or it just scares them. Cash looks great, thanks for sharing
Oh my gosh are you in San Pedro?? I just left there early this year. We were there 5 years. My dog Buddy is a classic neo mastiff/bully mix. Also a brindle! Turned 8 this year - still such an athlete. Finally had to do TPLO surgery for 1 knee but he lasted sooo long & has been like a tank. Literally the best dog ever!!! Enjoy. I miss it there. ;))
Now that’s an incredible gorgeous mastiff, fit and healthy. Very few and far between as most people go for these dogs so they can have the “biggest dog in the world”. This shows bigger definitely isn’t better
My mastiff is very sensitive you can’t raise your voice even slightly. Well at least not to my boy. His feelings get hurt and he pouts. He’s my baby he’s sweet, and kind and protective and loves the couch! Lol.
This is the fittest English Mastiff I've seen on YT! I've never seen one in person. I prefer dogumentaries with dog owners to dog breeders because the former are more upfront.
I had a male & female mastiffs several years ago and just loved them. I can relate to most of what you said, especially the drool rags and drool on the walls. An excellent dog for the right owner.

A bit of advise. Keep the food and water outside if you can and have a rag at the door. Let them out when they ask and wipe off their jowls before they come in. Drool problem solved.
Super Video. the English Mastiff looks clean and athletic. the Staffy Chihuahua mix looks cool and funny. 1st time seeing that combo ! :). Thanks the owner and DogumentaryTV.
Beautiful dog you got there. I saw one tonight and he was a very big dog. I asked the guy how heavy he was and he said 235lb. I'm used to staffys 50 to 70lb. I'm very impressed with their weight, that's insane weight for a dog.
Great video. Real dog person. He'd do alright with whatever breed you can throw at him. Also didn't talk about the dog being aggressive or a bully or any of that bs-because he's raised his dog right. Not because Mastiffs are incapable of being those things. Good man. Also that dude's either tall af or his mastiff is well below breed standard height?
John, I had an English Mastiff, and they are very protective. As a female owner with another female small dog, Lhasa, at the age of 2, maturity, my mastiff became the male protector of the house. It was instinctive with him, he was trained from an early age, very important with a male dog/ female owner, to listen and obey. But this dog, hated men from the age 2 on. Except my dad and the vet, he would never allow men near us. He had knocked down wooden stockade fences to play with the children in the neighborhood, the moms and kid he would run to, the dads would run in the house. They all knew he loved the kids and women, and knew that their homes and families were protected with him around. He was like a kitten with the children and would allow no one near them, that he didn't know. It is just in his makeup, protective, but at the same time gentle. He was 233 solid pounds of love and protection. He lived to be 11 years old, and yes they need a strong dominant owner but one that understands his need to be protective and was great with other dogs and animals. Funny thing is, he was brought up and socialized around all types and ages of people and animals, male and female, but his protective nature and intelligence just didn't want any men around us. Talked to many mastiff owners about this, especially female owned, and they are pretty much all the same, with a female owner, will not try to alpha her so much, but will not let any males into her life, or any that will come between him and her. But I will tell you, my little 10 pound female Lhasa would run him and let him know who was boss, til he decided he had enough. But she basically ruled him. lol
We are on our 3rd mastiff.... love him to the end of the earth... Just got a Tibetan Mastiff..... She is 5 months old... can't wait to see her full grown.
I've wanted a mastiff for so long and have only had German shepherds cause it's impossible to find mastiffs where I live. This is awesome info, good vid!😁
Hi! Today I adopted my English Mastiff/ St Bernard, I named her Kenai. She was never allowed in a home, kept in a pen and Kendal and not allowed around the family. Was really neglected and just not loved (poor thing) She's 8 months old, and after 12 hours follows me around everywhere. However, she refuses a leash, isn't leash trained. And she isn't potty trained. I know she's going to be happy with me and she is laying on her first bed ever. But, I need help in how to leash and potty train.
I have a 5 month old mastiff and this guy is gold to me He is aloof but if I’m safe in his mind that person is cool to him. Personally you have to make them motivated or yes they ignore or look the other way. From the time I brought mine home it’s motivating him to engage into training, fetch, tug and just being with me and interacting with others. Start them early to get out and seeing people and dogs or that guard dog side kinda over rules. Agreed don’t over work even training, keep it fun and they stay engaged. They will let you know when training is done and time for a break. They tend to bond with one to two people but there is that one person. For mine it’s me, they like to keep an eye on their person making sure they are safe and in sight. Otherwise a very great dog can bring anywhere and gets along with those in his circle. They can be sensitive to food, and or certain situations, and can take things personal. But I love my pup and love interacting with his breed, naturally chill and not too hyper but not too chill
Awesome dogs, he covered just about everything. They don't eat nearly as much as people think, about Cantaloupe portion size, about the same size droppings daily,(buy the BIG pooper-scooper), also vet bills are substantially higher (shots are 4 to 5 times larger)= Money to the Vet. Annual check-ups for my boys were about $350/each+Heartworm meds. Mine slept 22 hours per day, and they always want to be in the same room with you. Oh yeah, and they fart A LOT!! Cleared the room when they both got going.
I have never had a dog as in tune with me as my English Mastiff, he feels my thoughts it's crazy. He's my soul mate ,9 yrs now, terrified of water and kids
Gorgeous colouring. We're considering getting a mastiff as our Dane x Mastiff passed away last month. We've got 5 young kids (3 - 10) and we go bushwalking virtually everyday so life should be interesting for the dog we get.
I just had my English mastiff pass away. And let me tell you. Fricken great dogs. She was the most protective and awsome dog... until she got older lol. As she turned 10 she became really lazy (dont balme her shes old). But she lived till 13 1/2. Which is old. And i loved her so much
WoW that's the most both beautiful and fit eng.mastiff i've EVER seen!!!!!! AND he retrieves!🤯 Wow, wow, wow!!! I REALLY hope you take puppies on him!!!
Great looking dog. They look so great, especially when you keep them as fit as your dog. I have an American Bulldog and they have the same issue with weight. I have to make sure that she stays 80 lbs. or less, once she goes over 80 lbs. she looks heavy and she loses energy and even has more issues with her breathing. All of these mastiff type dogs have issues with the heat. Congrats on a great video. This is very informative and really well done. Thanks for posting.
nice to see hes still got his tackle, my ddbx rott is now 12 months and full of attitude my vet advises getting him neuter i just cant do it nothing abit of hard work wont cure.
Beautiful Mastiff, just like I keep my boy Dom, lean and in shape. We'll hike miles and he's good to go, most folks keep their Mastiffs obese and destroy their joints and cut their lives short.
Congrats on your English Mastiff and also on the way that you are handling him! I relate to everything that you said in your vídeo. My NIKK, a Portuguese Livestock Guardian Dog (with some Irish Wolfhound blood) x Great Dane mix of 70 kg and 185 cm tal on his hind feet, is an extraordinary dog - actually, he's more than "just" a dog or a friend: he's my Guardian Angel. I take him with me almost everytwhere I go (he loves being driven).
Beautiful color Brindle with some fawn mixed. My English Mastiff is 6 months old weighs right at 90lbs. They are very smart I taught mine to open fridge get me a Coke. Say bang bang and falls down and your normal tricks. But gets anxiety when I leave and has destroyed a few things.
That is the most athletic english mastiff i ve ever seen. That is a great owner for a great dog! Thumbs way up!
Also my EM Gunner is built just like this dog only bigger!

But she basically ruled him. lol
He does seem very fit for a Mastiff. Well done.
We are on our 3rd mastiff.... love him to the end of the earth...
Just got a Tibetan Mastiff.....
She is 5 months old... can't wait to see her full grown.
His chihuahua staffy mix is a neat looking little dog.
But, I need help in how to leash and potty train.
how did it go for you? Did you manage, or gave her away?
Hatts off mate. Really good job done. 👏👏👏
I have a 5 month old mastiff and this guy is gold to me
He is aloof but if I’m safe in his mind that person is cool to him.
4:15 you can see the owner check what the dog is looking at, he knows his dog well and saw a sign that he should look around as well.
Very beautiful mastiff well done
every dog needs that dog toy!!!!
Great friend to have He is a reverse brindle like I had. A lot of your stories are just what I experienced with mine over his 10 years he was with me.
You should do Living With Working Line German Shepherds or Dutch Shepherds
Not a pure bred EM but still a beautiful dog. Very athletic and mannerly. And still a very informative video!!
And i loved her so much
I do love the big block headed, smooshy faced dogs!
What a specimen of an English mastiff hes a beaut, so athletic too for a mastiff what a dog
WoW that's the most both beautiful and fit eng.mastiff i've EVER seen!!!!!!
AND he retrieves!🤯
Wow, wow, wow!!!
I REALLY hope you take puppies on him!!!
Congrats on the quality of the videos you produce!
Very cool video I think this is my dog. She’ll (because I want a girl) will make me get out of the house and work out or do something productive.
The little pitbull mix was interesting. I heard of that mix but never seen it.
I have a Mastiff and you're right he is very protective of our land
My female is so active and fit like this dog we love our Mastff
great video guy, I love my mastiff!
FIRST! :)
You sir are 2nd. Nels beat you to the punch.
impossible!
Incredible Dog Channel. That's a first for us dog lovers; that's a title you can have.
Dogumentary TV thanks for everything great work best dog channel hands down
Dogumentary TV why are there no small breeds , like dachshunds??
He is beautiful absolutely love the breed
awesome video. excellent work as always.
Great Vid as Always, I Love Mastiff breeds Keep them coming Man!
That's actually a good looking mastiff. Not too big or too little.
nice to see hes still got his tackle, my ddbx rott is now 12 months and full of attitude my vet advises getting him neuter i just cant do it nothing abit of hard work wont cure.
Awesone videos! Keep up the good work, sir!
When is a video with "Living with a Great Dane" coming up?
Beautiful color Brindle with some fawn mixed. My English Mastiff is 6 months old weighs right at 90lbs. They are very smart I taught mine to open fridge get me a Coke. Say bang bang and falls down and your normal tricks. But gets anxiety when I leave and has destroyed a few things.
