Thank you for covering them. I am a proud father of a 3 year old DDB, he weighs whopping 150 pounds. They are laid back when they are around family but very active when it comes to guarding their territory. Have been keeping dogs for 28 years now but they are my favourite so far because of the experience he has given me.
These dogs will touch your heart. So deeply, we've had 2 of them. Their lives were cut very short. We got 6 years with Clyde. ( Cancer) and 5 with Max ( Heart Arrhythmia). It was an absolute gift being around this breed.
My girl is 8 and still going strong. Kennel Club put life expectancy at 10yrs but mine has ancestors that made it to 12 for a dog this size that's not bad. It will break my heart when I lose her she is the best. 💖
As someone who had some of the only working Bordeaxs in the UK (premise guarding) I love this breed with all my heart, sadly since the French breed standard did away with the upper weight limit it has become harder and harder to get them with a good life expectancy meaning I will no longer have them(thanks show breeders) I now with the aid and exposure to the episode you did with BoarBoel I now have them in training and they are incredibly similar in so many of the best ways but “hopefully” with a vastly improved life expectancy.
We said goodbye to our DDB four months ago. Miss him dearly. Truly a protector of our children and a gentle giant in general. Don’t think I will ever own a more balanced and lovable dog than him again. But I will for sure not miss the daily house cleanings though.
I took on a rescue pup of a Bordeaux who was beaten and no hair from very bad mange. Took me a year to earn her trust but turned out to be such a beautiful dog. Just be ready to mop the walls as well as the floor.
I had one in the 90s and yes, they drool everywhere but he was the best dog. He was so good with my kids when they were younger and his best friend was my potbelly pig.
Imagine being fully grown by age three only to pass away two years later. I could not deal with such heart break, especially with my dog turning six in a few months
Did it twice. First 4 years from the second 1 wk before his 8th. He had cardiomyopathy n so so wanted him to make to 8 but ultimately that was just love n my selfishness n he died in my arms at home n the pain of loss was truly unarming lost a part of me truly. Couldn't get a dog for 4 years. Always had a dog n he (Tyson rescue name) went everywhere with me, work, toook my van seats out passengers went in the back, he loved the pub had that place locked down for perperami's, n on the bench like a stone lion guarding the pub. I rescued a ddb 4 year ago. She is 66kg now most loving loyal cuddly gentle giant in the house. She had no social interaction when I took her on. She is temperamental with new people in her space or near us . She is friendly with puppy's and her tone of bark changes from friendly to protective. I walk her off lead as I semi trust her. She doesn't venture far as she needs to see me. Her recall is hitty miss
I've had 3 of these beautiful creatures. They are absolutely beautiful dogs. They adore and love the family and people in general. They are stubborn and devout. Gorgeous dogs. I just wish they had a better life span
As a former Dogue de Bordeaux owner, I can say everything that was said about them in the video was correct. Their short life span is due to the fact that the gene pool the current Bordeauxs began with is so small. One thing about them that I wish were emphasized more before I got mine (and would be helpful to any prospective owner) is their heat intolerance. They are not suitable for hotter climates and can die from heatstroke due to their inability to cool themselves because of the shape of their muzzle and palette. They must not be outdoors for extended periods during high temperatures.
This was an excellent video that I’ve watched 3 times. I’ve had 6 DDB in the past 20 years and would never think of getting any other breed. They are extraordinary. Thanks for sharing.
I love all dogs even though I got bitten in both of my legs by 2 large dogs when I was 12 years old. I was playing and running on the street and the stray dogs might annoyed to see me like that. Luckily my mom was there, so she quickly save me. She even told me not to run in front of dogs and she didn't even blame the dogs because most of the people in my country knows the dogs don't like someone strangers running in front of them. There are a lot of stray dogs in my country but most people including me love them. One of the good things about the stray dogs is they can alert you at night by barking when some thief come near the house or some strangers who are not from the quarter/village entering the area. That's why most people feed the stray dogs and let them live as they please.
Makes me miss our Bordeaux pitbull boxer mix we had. His dad was a Bordeaux pit, and mom was a boxer pit. But he took his dad's traits on, and yes, the drool is real lol. Dum dum drooled uncontrollably and i miss that. Bordeaux's are such an amazing pup. Can't wait to get a full blooded Bordeaux
We have a DDB. He's a great dog. Theyre really affectionate and loyal. They really love their owners on a different level. That love and devotion makes the slobber worthwhile!

Is so gentle with other puppies and people and considering she was 45kg at 14 months, was not small.
Absolutely the best dog breed I ever had and showed love I think backyard breeders maybe spoiled the breed and how much they wanted for a puppy that's my taught and one day I mite be lucky again to have a puppy

Same. I have a 2-yr old male that is also an incredibly picky eater. Meanwhile the food he eats is better than some humans. Every day I hold my breath to see if he eats.
I have learned that stubborn dogs are actually super intelligent!!! I had a bunch of German shepherds that were super stubborn but man were they smart!!!
I’m so happy that you know dog breed is well-known for Disney’s 1989 film series Turner & Hooch with Tom Hanks and not to mention its recently Disney plus television reboot with Josh Peck.
Very nice video Anneka. Have you heard of the Danish Broholmer? It's a mastiff breed but without a brachycephalic muzzle and not prone to drooling. Thought I'd suggest it to you for your channel.

@@SonRS84 I'm sure there are Broholmer breeders who breed dogs for human companionship. I think it really comes down to what they find out from clients and what their intentions are.
Can someone please answer this, I'm trying to find a dog that's got a ENORMOUS head, I heard this ones got a big head, but I see pictures and stuff in comparison and it just doesn't look as big as the bull mastiff, I just want to know if someone has seen both bull mastiff and French mastiff males and tell me witch is bigger please
Some friends of mine had a sharpei. He used to grab me by the arm and mouth me all the way up and down my arm. Not mean just saying nom nom nom! He was a good boy! I think he loved me. LOL!
I am a really! Very big dog lover and puppy lover forever and ever ❤❣️💌💟💝💖💗💓🩷💜💚🧡💛🩵💙💕💞🐕🦴 I have a really! Very big dog lover and puppy lover Since I was 5 years old
I’m sorry but “ don’t walk your dog till 6 months” is not good, I’ve have 60kgs + mastiffs and they all got walked plenty since 3 months, not mad long hikes but good decent walks with plenty of play, all have been fine..
We have Dogue De Bordeaux his name is Choppa 16 months love play and cuddles always but very very guarding at home and his territory and aggressive with others dogs
@@Animal-Watch Choppa is longer and slimmer, he is very agile for a French Mastiff and he is all muscles, he is very playful, but very very guarded, and also aggressive with other dogs as soon as we meet someone he immediately gets into position attacking like lions does not want any dog to get close or at least most
I have a hard time picturing a vegetarian like Hitler, hurting animals, when he passed the first animal protection laws since Ancient Egypt. We’ve been told many lies about the man himself, and especially about who he married, and her genetics. But He did love animals.

Shucks
We use breed DBD . So beautiful all of our where dark red with just a white blaze on chest . You can purchase slobber cloths definitely a must . Our all lives over 10 . They really are great with kids and love getting dressed up ours always went to sons football matches with their own jersey 's . Such beautiful cuddly dogs but they do try and get on your knee for cuddles.
I bought my boy freddie from her he's amazing she's a great breeder
We lost our DDB in July, Hollie would of been 9 next month, I miss her so much, she never left my side, I lost my best friend 😥

& there was one on a very obscure TV series from the very early 90's Tequila & bonetti animal watch. 😉
Bonjour
What a wonderful experience
♥️
Can someone please answer this, I'm trying to find a dog that's got a ENORMOUS head, I heard this ones got a big head, but I see pictures and stuff in comparison and it just doesn't look as big as the bull mastiff, I just want to know if someone has seen both bull mastiff and French mastiff males and tell me witch is bigger please
I'm on my second, my first died in April and it broke my heart, he was truly man's best friend but I'm so smitten with DDB's I got another one
That’s so sad
Some friends of mine had a sharpei. He used to grab me by the arm and mouth me all the way up and down my arm. Not mean just saying nom nom nom! He was a good boy! I think he loved me. LOL!
I am a really! Very big dog lover and puppy lover forever and ever ❤❣️💌💟💝💖💗💓🩷💜💚🧡💛🩵💙💕💞🐕🦴
I have a really! Very big dog lover and puppy lover
Since I was 5 years old
Awesome dog mam❤
Thankyou
Mine only drools when eating
I’m sorry but “ don’t walk your dog till 6 months” is not good, I’ve have 60kgs + mastiffs and they all got walked plenty since 3 months, not mad long hikes but good decent walks with plenty of play, all have been fine..
Haha I’m soaked in dribble. beautiful dogs. If you can’t afford to buy one then you probably can’t afford to feed one.
We have Dogue De Bordeaux his name is Choppa 16 months love play and cuddles always but very very guarding at home and his territory and aggressive with others dogs
Is he? Wow
The most loving breed you could be lucky enough to have in your family❤... life expectancy is the only drawdown as it will break your heart when they leave you😢
I know! That’s why I couldn’t have one!
