Dear Kostya, I have a question regarding game 1: what strategies can be employed to overcome the apprehension and fear that arises when facing younger and underrated opponents? This is a recurring issue for me and I would appreciate any advice you can provide.
Same here. I am playing a 1800 rated 10 year old tomorrow. I know he’s probably 2000 strong. What I try to do is not think much about the rating and appreciate the fact that I’m probably playing a future star. One kid I played years ago and drew is now a 17 year old NM. That is something I cherish more than beating old overrated people
Kostya, long term fan of your game analysis videos here. I'm concerned about the mindset with which you approached game 1 and the analysis of it. Never seen you make such weird, passive moves and think so negatively. You are an awesome player and calculator so please back yourself against the underrated kids!
In the first game around 5:00, after Bd3, Bxd3, Qxd3, Qxb2, Ne2, can't black just take the rook at a1 or am I missing something?
Oops Rb1 first of course 🙂
Thanks for the recap...playing e4 in game 3 was a bit surprising. Eager to see the rest...cheers.
Aw, I almost attended the competition! It's been ages since I talked to Dojo people

Same issue, scared of kids now.

Watch "Million Dollar Baby" if you want to learn how to handle underrated youngsters.
Who is this "we" you refer to at the beginning of the video? lol
Interesting analysis and insights but a pretty disastrous start to a tournament.
7:25 I think not going deeper into such lines and exploring them (instead just dismissing them as engine lines) is really self-limiting
