I really appreciate this format in which you commentate and analyze a single, top-level game in great depth. I'd like to see you continue on with this style of entertaining, educational content. Much love Levy. ❤
For me this kind of content from Gotham stands head and shoulders above his other content. I would like to see a historic deepdive of Mikhail Tal games.
Because he is knowledgeable of the game and has good storytelling aspects to make it more entertaining. Overall good effort put into the right places makes good content
Over 4M subscribers, meaning a likely revenue stream of close to $1M a year, and potentially up to $2M a year, will do that. Not hating just admiring. Maybe a little envy too.
@@raylopez99 what do you even mean by this? Subscribers don't give revenue, views, timespan, clicks, do. He's getting the views he's getting because he's a good entertainer who knows how to keep the audience engaged. He explains every move with the most clarity and makes everybody understand what many people would not.
I definitely prefer deeper looks into single games rather than a recap of a dense round. Gives more breathing room for story telling! The history of an event/players/positions, analysis of alternate moves, explanation of why exactly something is good/bad, etc!
Back in 2021 Magnus sacrificed his queen to get 3 pieces when playing against Anish Giri and coordinated them very well. Maybe he was worried his opponent here would be able to do the same and his queen wouldn’t be enough.

Pushing that a pawn far up to restrict and trap black's pieces is a theme I saw repeated a lot in alpha zero's games. So cool to see Magnus using the same idea to get the upper hand!

The move NxF5 is CRAZYYYY!!!! And it took only 5 mins for Magnus to calculate all that!!! WTF I would not even in 50years find that move... This is so CRAZYYYY
The move is just Nf5, not Nxf5. There is nothing to take on that square. And that makes it even more impressive because captures are easier to calculate.
Nf5 is a thematic sacrifice in the Najdorf (and similar structures), so Magnus being aware of the possibility is unsurprising. Calculating and evaluating the resulting positions is what makes him the best.
One of your best videos in a while, keep it up. Love when people do what their channels were founded on and focus on appeasing their core audience rather than on what the masses like and what fads draw short term inconsistent views.
As a non-chess player, this is bamboozling (at first) and also completely fascinating. Worth watching just to see your passion and knowledge for the game.
"Younger generation" speaking of the OLD Magnus Carlsen, age 32, an age when Bobby Fischer was still Champion, when Karpov was in his best years, when Kasparov was at his peak.... Magnus to hand over the reign; Only if he gets bored.

And a chess app is more accesible than being handed a 100 million dollar jet.
When Levi explains: "He goes a6, takes, masterfully moves bishop D5!!!, then brutally checkmates." When Magnus explains: "Ahhh I just knew i had the position. It was just easy, honestly."

Damn, you're awesome Levi. I'm sure no one could, with such indescribable precision in every detail, turn chess from a boring sport into a source of adrenaline.
I’m 28 turning 29 next month. Started playing chess at the local club to be sociable instead of spending every day alone in my office programming / building my company. Now I’m in it to win. I wish I could see the board in these videos but I’m partially sighted, so can’t spot moves that aren’t pointed out. Do you do private lessons? Obviously I’ll pay. Don’t need to say you’re an incredible player and I’ve learnt tons from your videos already, and I’m going to get your courses. So long as I can mirror the moves on my physical tactile chess set, easy if they’re called out or if someone is on the other side of the board, I can easily learn. The club has multiple folks rated around 2000 or higher in their 70s and above. I don’t think I’ll be able to match Magnus Carlson given what you said about age, but I want to try. I’ve pulled off less crazy things before. Thanks for all the great content :)

You are an amazing ambassador for chess. Take it from a random nobody who doesn't even play it. Despite this, you bring out an appreciation for this game that I didn't even know I had. 4m+ subcribers is only the beginning. Keep at it, you will bring chess to the world.
The video reminds me of the first ones you made, sir. Just one game, putting the key movements in context based on the time available, showing the long-term strategy of what you are looking for with the secondary opening lines. Truly a wonderful video, congratulations. My bet is on 5M subs, before the northern spring equinox, just saying ;) The sky is the limit.
This game is remarkable because, aside from the Knight brilliance, most of these moves are rather straightforward and easily understood by someone who is 1100 like me. But he does it against a Super GM and makes them look simply foolish. Absolutely clinical performance from the GOAT
