The most unfortunate game of Pragg's chess career | Pragg vs Rapport | Prague Masters 2024

- It wouldn't be an overstatement to say this was the most unfortunate game of Praggnanandhaa's classical chess career till date. From a totally winning position in a game that he dominated, Pragg makes two back to back blunders which land him in a totally lost position. This happened at round 3 of the Prague Masters 2024. Check out the video to find how that happened with the commentary by IM Sagar Shah.

I'm impressed how hard Chessbase india is working this event, they got live coverage, interviews & recaps of different games with high quality, dope!

The most difficult thing in chess is to win a winning position
This quote is very dumb
@@claudiog7692Did you even play chess??
@@Jeffwaifei yes, I’d say winning in a normal middlegame a rook down is much harder and much more unlikely than winning it a rook up

Inspired my rapport, for not giving up and still fighting back with hope, 🔥🔥🔥
Pragg is one of the most interesting and exhilarating players of this generation. He'll definitely bounce back stronger.
Fantastic video Sagar! Thank you!!
Proud of chess base India for their dedication to the game. No chess community of any other country is supporting their players like you guys. 👍
when you blunder so bad even your opponent apologizes
no rapport is such a nice person !
Thanks! I noticed a short video of this and luckily you have the whole game.
tough loss for Pragg, but I'm sure he'll bounce back. he's one of the top players right now and the participation in the cadidates tournament is well deserved.

Very unfortunate 😢
Excellent play both 👏 👍
Well done, Richard!
Everyday is a new learning!!! Well played both :)
I have learned from Pragg Thanks Chessbase India for the vids❤❤
Ouch. Remember a year or two ago Pragg vs Rapport (maybe Wijk an Zee) when Pragg flagged because he mis-counted the move number and thought he had extra time at move 40, so he went for a walk and lost on time.
The same thing happened to Vahap against Pragg! So the karma had been restored

This game is best example for - 1 Move can destroy your entire game.
Chess is such a combination of tried and tested theory, players' attitude on a given day (aggressive or defensive), experience, and insight into self and opponent. For myself and other average players, Sagar's energetic commentary puts it all into perspective and brings the game alive! Thank you and keep up the fantastic promotion ChessBase India!
I felt the loss to my bones......you will rise stronger, pragg
Prag love u from Uzbekistan , good luck next time
Prag is young he will bounce back greater than before! Don’t lose heart Prag!
Nice way to cover classical games. Plz do on others also
Chess is Brutally Amazing❤😢
so sad to watch Pragg lose such a winning game😭😭Hope he bounces back soon
This is more heartbreaking than a break up !
nice sagar bhai
I can't believe I can be this sad watching a chess match 😢
Life humbles you in many ways. When you're on top, there is only one way to go if you can not maintain like magnus. But you live, you learn.
That hurts
Rapport is a fantastic player! Sorry pragg! These things happen. Still, he didn't lose his happiness after the game :) Great comentary Sagar!
Hajrá Ricsi!!!🎉❤🎉❤🎉❤🎉❤🎉❤
What happened to pragg😢it's completly winning position, but he lost the game 😢 .
Time control
@@manu-singh There is still 2:48
2 blunders in a row
@@comedefleurieu315 I wouldn't of expected this shock comeback from rapport, especially in this classical game. Pragg was dominating the earlier part of the middlegame but made some huge errors, the position got very complicated and I think he overlooked. A game like this at strong GM level is heartbreaking. Chess is a cruel game.

What a move from Rapport. Sensational turnaround
Pragg did blunder...he didn't play any genius move
@@mydad101 any chess game can only be win if your opponent makes mistakes, otherwise any game is drawish
@@mydad101 In the analysis which I watched, the commentator gave Rapport's move a double exclamation mark.
I feel him. Its completly disappointened make a hundred best moves then one single mistake
Rapport played a very solid and logical chess which paid off well
Pragg playing in prague
Nada sencillo de ver para un genio de mi nivel.
volume of the mic is too high, can work on sound quality
Prag return back to roots it will help you to bounce back
It has been a trend for him recently. He blunders all of a sudden, and gives the game off his hand. He needs to learn to control his nerves during bad times. He'll learn that with experience. We all r proud of him anyways. Best wishes!!!
That happens me maximum times whenever i feel ya this is it i am going to win and suddenly i make terrible blunders its important eye noticing for every move! well pragg also going to learn
Sagar is the new Agadmator.
Keep going pragg 🩷
Please someone explain time format
After playing bishop at e6(Be6)...white has a good move of playing knight at e2(Ne2)
Rook takes knight
Then king captures the rook now what?@@africanduke
@@inderjeetchhabra1587 in next 2 moves, pawn promotes as queen.
From my experience.. Pushing so much pawns in the early game mostly lead to losing game

This game is another piece of evidence! Psychology and mindset have lot to do
loss feels similar to gukesh losing winning position by mistaken 3 fold repetition with pragg
Wow
Massive Blunder
Clear Win to lost position in two moves.
Very Very worried scenerio before Candidate.
one bad move nullify 40 good moves
True
That's why chess is brutal
A life lesson, too.
@@striker44we're humans we can't get 100% rid of blunders
Great commentary, but dont spoil the result plz :)
Why not Knight on E2 after check?
What if Ne2?
10:44 knight jumps on E2 is best i guess pragg can still hold but difficult to win becoz pf strong pawn on g3 i guess if he did it so knight e2
Come on guy's been winning games after another some regression will happen. He's a star
Humbling game this chess.
Very sad to see this😢! If Pragg wanted to perform well in Candidates, he need to work more…..🙏🏻
Why didn't he block the check by knight? 10:46(I'm just 700 elo)
rook takes the knight and then bishop check on g4 wins the rook on e8
can anybody explain to me why knight E2 is not played by Pragg it stops the pawn from queening and if Rook takes then king takes rook... and pawn to g1 promote to queen. but it not check. Amazing game
My exact question too
I was actually thinking the same. because even if black did something like bishop to g4, prag could've played his rook to e5 to counter and got out of it. I'm not sure why that move wouldn't have worked though
Ne2 could stop the pawn, right?
Why prag can just put the Knight in e2 so to prevent the pawn?
Trust me,this kind of loss only makes him STRONGER
Grandmaster: All my moves are calculated you know
Me: Accidents happen you know
Knight e2? Does it save the pawn from queening?
No. Rook will simply take your knight. Then You can take the rook, but eventually the pawn must be queen.
Why not night came beside king after check 😿
Tremendous sportsmanship from both Pragg and Rapport. First, Rapport apologizes to Pragg while accepting the latter's resignation. Then Pragg offers to discuss what was possibly the most heartbreaking game of his career. So many lessons for all of us to learn from this gentlemanly exchange.
I've put my head on a silver platter many times.
Rapport is very Good Player
rapport a legend😎
What happened if pragg plays knight e2 after bishop e6,now if black takes the knight with rook then king takes rook, whats wrong in this, what am i missing can anybody tell clearly
That the pawn can still promote to a queen
@@batlerushirmoyai no u see,if pawn comes to G2 then my king comes to f2,now there's no threat u see
@@inderjeetchhabra1587 nope he doesn't
Let me show you the variation
1. Ne2(white), g2(black). 2. Kf2(white), Rxe2#(black). 3. Kxe2(white), g1=Queen(black)
And now white cannot check the king to capture to queen because bishop will take the rook.
That's why i have love and hate relationship with chess
I like Pragg wearing glasses, actually (yeah, I know, quite random comment)
A few minutes into the game and theyte already getting up to walk around?
😢
Pragg let his time get too low and then panicked for some reason. He needs to make sure his time management is much better at the candidates.
chess is brutal
I feel for Pragg. Is this normal for him? Is the Candidates pressure getting to him? Or is it the pressure of the corporate sponsorship? I feel he should relax and trust his natural style and intuition rather than relying too much on engines and prep. Bounce back, Pragg!
12:52 why can't pragg keep his knight on B4 square and stop the pawn !???🙄
Praggnanandha don't give up
You are the champuon
Don't worry
They wont
Human brains weren't designed for chess, but some don't want to believe it 🤣
Keeping game a aside ..there is a girl behind pragg ...such a beautiful ❤
What about night e2
Kurt Cobain is damn good
12:37 what if pragg plays knight E2????
Rapport can still push the pawn, then sacrifice the rook for the knight. Or he can just trade the rooks and take the a pawn with the bishop.
Pragg's time management is still pretty poor, like you play 15 - 20 moves as prep, then you cannot make 20 moves in 1.5 hours and blunder under time pressure.
Why these grandmasters resign without checkmate. But Richard Rapport knows he was losing the match but he fight till Pragnananda make BLUNDER. Chess game is alway fighter side.
No one knows pragg lost his interest in chess after fide finals with mag 😢
13:40 - 13:51 👀
