    AIN editor-in-chief Matt Thurber evaluates Textron Aviation’s flagship Cessna Citation Longitude super-midsize jet. The aircraft was certified in September 2019, and the company had delivered 31 copies of the model as of the end of 2020.
    Although it shares the flat-floor cabin width and height dimensions of the Latitude, the Longitude is a fairly big step up from its smaller sibling. With a maximum takeoff weight (mtow) of 39,500 pounds, the Longitude is longer, by about three and a half feet in the cabin and nearly 11 feet overall. Also, the Longitude’s extra 8,700 pounds in mtow enable it to carry another 3,706 pounds of useful load, most of that fuel. Total mtow is 14,500 pounds or 3,106 pounds more than the Latitude's mtow). And that translates into significantly added range, allowing the Longitude to carry a full-fuel payload of 1,600 pounds (1,000 more than the Latitude) and fly 3,500 nautical miles, compared with the Latitude’s 2,700 nautical miles.
    Powered by two 7,665-pound thrust Honeywell HFT7700L turbofans, the Longitude has a maximum cruise speed of 483 ktas and a maximum operating limit speed of Mach 0.84, putting it way ahead of the Latitude’s 446 ktas and Mach .80.

      That's great and all, but the Praetor and this are not directly comparable aircraft. The Longitude is designed to be a mid-range 12 passenger configuration aircraft with trans-continental range. The Praetor, though fly-by-wire as you say, can typically hold 8 passengers and range is effected with the number of passengers by a significant margin. Just something to keep in mind.

      Nope Praetor 600 and longitude are direct competitors in the super mid class both beautiful and capable 12 passenger planes
      The Praetor does have some advantages
      1 Praetor 4018 nm mile range
      Longitude 3500 nm range
      2 Praetor fly by wire
      3 Praetor has slightly better short field performance

    • @jlalbee
      @jlalbee 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Preator 500/600 are just Legacy 450/500 with new avionics and winglets. Let's not forget that Embraer is firm on its published price, while Cessna will discount 20% or more on a sale. Then again, I suspect you won't be in the market for any of these aircraft.

    • @naughtyUphillboy
      @naughtyUphillboy 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jlalbee NO, Preator series has additional fuel tanks, better pressurization. I recently flew on lineage 1000, loved it, only short range. Embrear products are great, I heard Preator series is best handling aircraft, the light jet are exceeding 10 mil new(CJ4/PC24), stretching a little & acquiring Preator 500/ latitude gives more capabitlties & standup cabin, many of our customers want stand up cabin, we operate from Singapour. Lack of twin toilet in Preator series may be an issue.

    • @MrNikerunner40
      @MrNikerunner40 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Worth the money. Praetor 600 is a pig - slow and can't climb especially in hot conditions. I heard a couple of Praetor 600 customers hated them and bought Longitudes instead! lol
      I know for a fact the pressurization is within 200 ft at FL450. No one can tell a difference between the two. I'd say, unless you really need 200 nm more (that's all the more range P600 gives), buy a Longitude.

    Jet is nice and smooth but this is a bus. And about 25x more fuel burning per distance than an efficient ICE car. Say you are only moving 2-3 people, it is incredibly wasteful. No matter what I could afford, I'd want something more efficient. Way more efficient. I think we could really benefit from car config 4 seater ultra light twin jet. Like a cirrus sr22 but sleeker, lighter, pressurized and two small jets. If you have 4 seats and can do mach 0.7, that to me is much greater freedom than a bus burning 10x more fuel. Even if you want transatlantic range, it can be built for range, not just big.

    • @redcat9436
