- Introducing to the channel the Cessna Citation 501SP! Join us as we put the short field capabilities of this airplane to the test, flying from Camarillo to my home airport of Reid Hillview, with a runway length of 3,100’! Flying into here is always bittersweet as it is where my aviation career began almost ten years ago. I hope you enjoy yet another new airplane to the channel, be sure to stay turned for more Piaggio and Gulfstream content!

I'm not a pilot, but what draws me to watch aviation vlogs is the professionalism and efficient manner that Owen, and a few other pilots conduct themselves. I really admire that. Not caring what seat your in. JR vogs are pretty good too:)
Thank you very much for watching!
@@FlyWithOwen I was wondering for future ref,do u ever take any passengers? ( obviously not for free) And I live in Vegas..
Owen is great, such a class act. I like 'Fly With Rich', too. Both are such genuine guys. I'm not a fan of the upload schedules though lol, but I'd imagine these guys are super busy, and aviation channels just don't grow as fast as automotive channels, so I can't blame them for not overworking 5 videos a week.
Have just over 3k hours in the 501SP and what I like about this video is the use of checklist not just memory and the discussion of speed, emergencies, etc before take off. The day you think you've got enough hours that you don't need your checklist is the day your should stop flying I was always told so respect for that. Finally got as glass cockpit two years ago and didn't realize how much extra work I was doing with just analog. Glass is amazing
I flew one of those 40 years ago. I didn't know any were still being operated. Great to see it. The scan of the instrument panel brought back some great memories!
Sweet! Yes they’re workhorses
It seems Owen is a very gifted pilot and he’s proven what hard work and passion can achieve. Having said that I enjoy watching all of his content no matter what he is flying. Keep the content coming buddy.
Thank you for the kind words!
You've come a LONG way ( literarily ) in just TEN years, Owen. I always enjoy seeing another perfect landing. I also like seeing the multi-camera views during landing - very nice editing.
Thank you very much!
Cessna 180 owner/operator here, I like the Piaggio and the Bo. All the content is interesting to me though. Thanks Jeff.
Thanks for watching!
Owen just love your content and professionalisme and yes Jets
Thank you!
Owen is by far the best ambassador for future pilots and current ones. I’m working on getting my currency up and running again to be a safety pilot for part 91 owners and operators. Owen inspires me with each video even after over 40 years experience. Good job my man.
Thank you very much!
Thanks, Owen love your videos for content and the great conversations
Thank you!
Great video man, loved seeing you go back to the airport it all started at for you 10 years ago - but in a jet! I got the same feeling when I flew back into my hometown airport I worked at the fbo at for 10 years fueling all these jets.... to land there in a gulfstream with my family (from vegas) , to meet the rest of my family (from mississippi) was such a surreal feeling. Proud of your achievements man, keep killin it!
Thanks for watching bro!
Love your Piaggio content probably my favorite airplane.
Looking forward to your next one. Safe travels.
Thank you! More Piaggio content coming soon
You are definitely my favorite pilot to watch. I hope you have a long and productive life as a pilot.
Thank you!
That was really cool to watch, I feel like I learn something every time I see your videos Owen. As a private pilot in 152's and 172's, the jets (and Piaggio) are an entirely different realm. Would definitely love more Bonanza content too!
Love watching your videos!! Great pilot!
Owen flys with such confidence! A real pleasure to watch! Great video as always…be safe out there!
Thank you!
What a great way to come back to the airport where you learned at. I took my private pilot checkride in the same airplane I had my first flight in 20 years earlier. Awesome video as always, that's such a cool airplane.
Yay more Owen content 🎉
This being your own plane, it would be awesome to see what your guests experience, see and hear the cabin noise etc. Maybe in a future video with your girlfriend(s)?
Thank you for watching!
Props to you Owen, pun intended.
You have the right stuff.
You have become my 2nd favorite pilot on TH-cam.
Cheers
Thank you! How do I become the first!?
@@FlyWithOwen Guido Warnecke is my favorite pilot in your category. The accent has a lot to do with it.
I was born and raised an airport brat and spent as much time in the bonanza as I did in the family car. Dad would buy them and flip them, averaging 5 planes at a time. I fly for fun and fun only now.
You could say I'm a little jealous of your career. Be safe out there.
Cheers
Owen! You da man! Great video. Flew up there from KPOC to KRHV in a single engine Cessna many years ago. Loved the "Thanks for the show" from the tower. This Citation 501SP is one of my favorite Citations, old easy and just a good looking airplane. Keep'em coming....
Thanks for watching!
Wow. You are one humble professional pilot. Keep up the good love for flying.
Wow that was great with runway view landing!
Thank you!
I usually NEVER comment on anything on TH-cam; however, after a lengthy and colorful career in the U. S. Marine Corps in which allowed me tens of thousands of tactical air miles all over the world, you have actually given me hope for the future of American Aviation!
You are confident, professional, and very smooth in terms of your day to day life as an American Aviator!
Nice Work!!!
Respectfully,
Jim Chambers
Total top notch and professional..as always Owen!
Appreciate it!
Owen, you are about 40 years behind me in your career. By now you know in the corporate world who you know is just as important as what you know. Jets can do amazing things, the numbers quoted are at maximum gross weight, 15c/59f and sea level. Reduce the actual gross weight and most will reduce the required runway length in about half. I’ve had a Westwind 2 in and out of 2800 feet, also landed the G3 simulator on the short runway at SNA. Nice job.
Thanks!
The more content the better. Keep killin it 💨💨👊🏽
Loved the video. Have been training out of KRHV for the past year or so and it’s so cool hearing the controllers I talk to in the video haha. Hope to be in ur shoes soon. Cheers
Awesome! Thanks for watching
This keeps me motivated to keep going!
The best youtuber in the world is a FLY WITH OWEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you!
Awesome video as always!
Where does the time go. As always, not even enough time to finish a cuppa coffee riding along with you, Owen. Good to see Jeff hanging out in the right seat, haven't seen him in a while. Too busy driving one of his 15 super cars I guess, lol
Going to be some serious IFR weather out of Van Nuys this weekend, this will be a good weekend to stay home and watch the Yellowstone marathon. Great video as always, Owen. Take care.
Thanks for watching!
I’m about any and all types of aircraft so yes more piston works for me ! Great content gentlemen !
What ever you guys have the bandwidth for, love it all. Thanks for the Rides!
Thanks for watching!
Great video again.. Thank you.
Thanks for watching!
Owen has been doing great content on just about everything. Thumbs up 👍
Thank you!
Are used to fly over the top of Camarillo airport going into Oxnard back in the 80s when Camarillo was an uncontrolled airport. It was always so busy and kept me very busy looking for traffic shooting the ILS into Oxnard. I enjoy any of your content Owen no matter what you’re flying. Keep up the good work.
Me too! Mid ‘70’s. I miss it.
Sweet! Thanks for watching!
I’m not a pilot but I know competency when I see it, Owen is great to watch! More Piaggio content.
Love your videos man, almost finished w commercial then hour building would be sick to fly together sometime I own a cirrus! Keep it up such a inspiration
Always enjoy watching Owen's content. He is so very professional, and thorough while flying. Thanks to Jeff for sharing this content as well. Personally I love the Citation, although you'd have to win the powerball to fly much, with the burn rate it has. lol
Thank you very much!
Eclipse 550 content might interest many. I know it costs more but because of age it might end up costing less in the long run. It can cruise below 50gph which is same or better mileage than a piston Baron. While going twice as fast. It's quite unique in fuel efficiency. Unfortunate the company went under but I wrote them recently and they are back alive restarting production. You might be able to do some videos with them on that. I don't know how far along they are. It shows that we could all have jets instead of pistons, they just have to be pressurized to have comparable fuel efficiency. Holding that pressure is easy for composites. All planes should have become jets in the 60s and notice they did for airliners. Imagine a personal jet twice as fast as a bonanza with better fuel efficiency than a bonanza. And it could be cheaper than a bonanza because a jet engine doesn't have to be complex. And they last longer.
Your a TRUE PROFESSIONAL❤
Video popped up in my recommended. I've been training out of RHV for the past couple of months and just completed my Multi ride with the same DPE in your picture. Aviation truly is a small world. 😂
Sup owen, im currently taking flight lessons out of Watsonville airport I live in santa cruz. its awesome to see your career progress youre a very professional pilot. ill be landing over at reid hillview very soon!
Whoa! We got to see Owen use his feet before flight. Might need another camera to show the feet movements, too. I'm glad the plane is doing well as are the pilot and co-pilot. 😄😄To answer Jeff's question, I'd like to continue seeing piston as well as jet flying with Owen!!
Thanks for watching!
So smooth every time 😎
Thanks!
Great content guys as always fun to watch… piston and jet content please enjoy both 👍 hi from Australia
Thanks for watching!
First time I’ve seen Owen nervous lol. I don’t blame him
I'm new to Owen's channel. I love the different types of airplanes he is flying and how professional he is with all of them. Definetely would love to see the Bonanza too. As a 68 y/o PPL that will probably never get IFR rating, the world above FL 180 is fascinating to me.
So Proud of it all Men. Staying focused always ahead of it. Be well, eat n sleep. Always have fun and Enjoy it! Onward 🌈 to making great choices n new adventures.
Great video and always loved that jet
Thanks for watching!
I`m not a pilot, but your landing is out of this world, really impressed. congrats
I love the Citation video the best.
Thanks!
Like always guys enjoyed the ride.
Great video together with Jeffrey. Stick some GoPros on the Bonanza and take us with you to and from work, like a commuter log book😊
Might have to do that soon!
Beautiful place ❤❤❤
I remember watching you all flying cirrus’s and now you’re both in a jet. Pretty cool!
Thanks for watching!
I learned to fly and instructed at RHV 40 years ago. I was the sole instructor at Nice Air when we started it up. So long ago that Amelia Reed would often be in the pattern at the same time. Even got chewed out by her once. It was a right to passage.
I hope to fly this Cessna and get a rating on a citation! Kudos to you Capt owen and JR! Hope to fly with you guys soon!❤🫡
Best
Vince
Pilot trainee
wow never been so early!! cheers owen
Cheers!
Piaggio content, Piaggio content, Piaggio content
Another nice video
Thanks
This kid is so blessed ❤
I definitely am!
Great!
Thanks!
Hi. I have 3 brothers. My youngest had his helicopter license and used to co-pilot for KCRA3. Both my parents had their private licenses. So, im the kind of guy who likes to watch all the private and commercial jets and planes fly over. I live up in northern California situated between San Francisco and Tahoe in the valley. I get to see all kinds of jets take off from MCC which used to be a military base, but now serves the department of forestry firefighters. One year we had the big 747 doing fire suppression which was really cool, but now its mostly DC-9's and 10's. Still very cool. But the majority of flights are private contract like NetJets, etc. So, my son is in college now and thinking about his future career choices and he likes flights of jets, airplanes, and airshows ad much as i so i suggested he should watch some of your videos and consider being a private pilot someday. You know, it runs in the family. Thanks guys. Oh, btw, the Reno Air Races are no more. 😢
Being a fully integrated fan hanging on every video, I feel the adulation, the excitement, the visuals as if I was onboard. Been in the real a few; nice flight and thank you.
Thanks for watching!
16:20 - Wise Words. Was true when I flew a C-152. 23N may have been a grass runway, but was a cutout of Class Charlie ISP.
Great thing about your videos is that they are portable to all level of aviation experience and complexity.
Great video and I had the same DPE
owen looks like tiger woods with them shads
Great flight Owen, back to where it all began, amazing! If you don’t mind a quick question, what kind of climb performance did you get on this flight? Nice to get that compliment from the controller at the end. And the split screen landing, including ground perspective, perfect! Thanks for taking me along, much appreciated!
Thank you for watching! I don’t recall exactly but at least 1,000FPM
Man I wish I could fly, I love it. I would definatly would of made a career out of it if I knew sooner
These videos are cool. Not a pilot just super interesting to watch. Keep posting and we will keep watching. Should’ve made a video. I flew four different airplanes in one week.
Thanks for watching!
Bonanza content is awesome! Baron as well if ever available!
I’m watching Owen, nothing with JR. They are night and day.
I miss that Bonanza but
I enjoy everything you do Owen. But ya it would be nice to see that Bonanza again.😊
Thanks! Might throw up some Bonanza content soon
I'm 72 and retired. I've flown a lot of them, I can't even guess. Bird strikes from behind, I love it!! LOL At least you weren't being towed by a flock of pigeons. 8) I haven't looked at the market in a very long time. I wonder of that was less then an older TBM? The TBM would be easier on fuel and maintenance at about the same, or close performance? Nice landing there!! 8) --gary
Learned to fly just north of where you did in Oakland!
Cool small world!
Really smooth flying and RT perfection. Any chance of filming some bad weather flights? Always seems blue skies over there. Is Jeff ever getting his license….
Great video! How do you stay proficient and all those different aircraft’s? First legally (ratings etc) but also remembering all the checks flows etc…
We want to see more Bonanza traffic for sure!
The ashtray was interesting.
HEY OWEN RIED HILLVIEWS A GOOD OL AIRPORT. I FLEW OUT OF THERE ON A CESSNA 152 WITH MY FRIEND DIANE.I ALSO WORKED WITH THE COUNTY ROADS & AIRPORTS THAT WAS ONE AIPORT WE MAINTAINED. COOL BE SAFE GREG
Any content is good, but love the jet stuff!
Thanks!
All aircraft types he flies 😎
Happy Easter Owen.....lots fans at KRDU....let us know, lunch of me!
Happy Easter!
Respect. I fly into there with a SR22T here and there and even to me the runway feels short. 😅
Thanks! Definitely gotta be on your game
Baie mooi ! Wünderbar
Both!
Enjoy your flying videos. Any plans to attend the 2024 SUN n FUN & which days? Hope to see you there. Aloha! Pilot Phil✈️
Let’s see some more bonanza content!
Any recommendations around the Bay Area (Mountain View) for getting my pilots license? You've helped convince me to becoming a commercial pilot. I really enjoy your videos.
Amazing quality as always, thanks Owen!
Are you going to Sun'n'Fun this year?
Thanks! Not sure I’ll make it this year
@@FlyWithOwen all good! It's a bit of a trek and your schedule seems jam-packed so it makes sense. I'll try to make it to Oshkosh as well this year, hope to see you there 🙏 Keep up the great work dude!
I'd watch Owen fly a wheelbarrow. He puts up great content. Some piston content would be great.
Jet content . He makes look so easy
More jets, less props. Love the multi-view landing.
Thanks for watching
Owens the man 🤙
Thank you!
I’m like in AWW for someone like you!! You should surprise one of your subscribers to a trip with you as co pilot and tell a story and document the experience!!
Thanks for watching!
@@FlyWithOwen I have this liking for being a pilot all of a sudden.
That’s a clever little radios panel, combining the standby between the two comm radios. Never seen one of those before, what company supplied/produced that panel?
I think it’s factory from citation.
I prefer the Piaggio content, that is my favorite turboprop twin
Bird strike from behind 🤣
👍🏼✈
Any advice for a CFII with 1000hrs currently in an Airline Pipeline program that would eventually like to get into contract flying? The consistency of airline flying seems nice, especially with the flight loan but the freedom of contract flying is also appealing. What would be your first steps to get into contract flying if you had to do it over again? Love the videos!
