Been playing this game since the Terraria crossover update and one thing I can describe about this game.. is a hidden gem! This is a mix game that you've all seem familiar with Terraria and Stardew Valley and this game has its charm to it!
eh, I don't know. as a diehard terraria fan this game didn't really do anything for me. the itemization seemed cool at first as it reminded me of some kind of MMO but that soon went away as found the same weapons/armor pieces drop over and over again, there's like 4 different armor sets and weapons it feels like, which appears to be true for the summoner and mage class. and that's another thing: it's obvious they have this particular 4 class setup from terraria, nothing wrong about it, but if they're going to introduce summoner with their release, at least make it somewhat on par with the other classes. I'm also not too fond of the graphics, which is totally subjective but I find the retro/indie style graphics in core keeper too pixelated if that makes any sense. oftentimes it's too hard to make out what some sprites are supposed to be. I dropped this game after the slime boss because it bored me to death, which is funny because I can play through terraria over and over again despite the progression being always the same. the game just grabs you by the balls whereas core keeper doesn't do that. it has potential but it's just not there yet and I suspect it will always linger in terraria's shadow.
I own and have already played this game but I just want to thank you for literally being the only video about games on my feed that isn't just miserable and pessimistic off rip
Core keeper is a wide but shallow ocean. I love the game. You’re probably gonna love the game too. It’s once you get to the endgame stuff you’re kind of looking for things to do and some of the stuff that you run into that should have depth really doesn’t and maybe needs it. I don’t know if it’s gonna be a 1.1 edition, or if that’s even in the plans, but still it’s a great and fun game. I definitely would recommend this 1000% to anyone.
I agree, I think with this 1.0 they have an INCREDIBLY strong foundation for the future. Much more than I'd like to see new systems I'd really appreciate seeing the depth of existing systems grow and see progression overall be worked on A LOT.
No one talking about the video quality so I'll say it. Amazing video Will definitely purchase the game, such a great overview. Looking forward to seeing your channel grow
Core Keeper looks very good and well done. I was kinda excited to check it out and I did during a free weekend on Steam. I don't want to hate on it or anyone playing it (again, it looks good), but I have to say that after having played Minecraft for thousands of hours and terraria for a few hundred and many other survival/sim games I just couldn't bring myself to do the same things like gathering, mining, crafting and building in yet another game. I'm fully aware those systems are the core of those games and it just makes sense to do it this way, but I wish there was a game that allowed you to achieve similar goals but in a new way. Don't know if that's even possible tho.
We bought this when it hit EA and stopped right when they introduced flooding the void, or something like that. I had been letting it cook and this video kinda made me want to try it again.
Just beat this with my 3 kids, ages 4, 6 & 8. It’s fantastic in difficulty scaling and wonderfully charming. It crashes a bit on my Steam Deck (top spec OLED) and joining friends requires using Steam overlay - kids need me to help - but otherwise I think it’s perfect. I also enjoyed it in early access with two other adults. I think the 1.0 release is solid besides the crashes. Great to see my 6 yr old figure out automation on his own (auto-smelting mine to chest factory line).
Happy to hear you've been enjoying it! A lot of my fondest memories are sharing games with my dad as a young kid, and a lot of those games became my favorites as I grew up. Keep doing what you're doing!
I’m praying that this game gets some actually substantial mods. If it can start to get mods that are deep I could see it being like Minecraft where I come back like yearly
first off: thank you big time for not spoiling so much. i'm meanwhile endgame and brought the game a couple of days ago, so still really fresh but seen a lot. the thing is, i think this game is pretty underrated and there aren't that many youtubers covering that game in a high quality manner, but most of those have shown off nearly all the games content, like bosses, biomes and stuff that is mainly giving most of the draw to explore the game for one self, and that in simple tips and tricks videos, or even beginner guides.. just as filler screenplay to text over. this is a game, where even looking up the wiki to check on items - a simple sidebar with links and thumbnails of bosses can flatten the excitement of your first encounter with them, because besides the crafting and progression mechanic gearwise, this is the CORE of what the game has to offer. stepping into a new biome and getting filled by curiosity what this place will introduce you to: environmental hazards, new enemy types, structure of the biome, wild animals to bring back to your base and even the moment you find your first resource for your next type of workbench. this is the stuff that KEEPS most players going to the endgame. i really wish for this game getting more of a proper spotlight and you surely contribute to that. and like you say in the beginning of the video - this game can really stand upright side to side with minecraft, terraria and stardew valley. for me also valheim and riftbreaker. and i hope more youtuber just don't forget even long after endgame, that this game has a huge first-time-emphasis on exploration and discovery :)
Both are worth playing. As terraria has been around longer, this is more base content and then a ton of huge mods on top of that. Just go with whichever looks more interesting to you right now, they’re not going anywhere!
Me and my bestie are sooo onto that game... It's just that after the end there's not a loot to do besides collecting everything. Maybe they could do another dimension someday or something
105h in, just finished the first three bosses. Love this game exploring, farming fishing and finding new stuff... Neverending good stuff in this game, just love it :) Cant wait and see how the game will dev in the future
i even thought "it"s summoning item was just an idol to summon the regular boss that we first defeated due to the name. But i was pleasantly surprised when what came out was very familiar, and way more difficult than I anticipated because it wasn't the boss I was expecting lmao.
Thanks for the comment! I’ve found some of the references to other games (not all, but some) and decided to leave them out because they work really well if you just stumble across them.
@@CNRMRY_YT respect that, but some people would like t know there are other games references in game, you could mention which would be neet. But not the actuall stuff thats referenced if you get my point :) But still get where you where going with review for peeps to have that feeling of "wow thats a nice stuff" edit: amazing review btw
game is great, but it still needs tons of polishing and updates to make it a solid game. So far, my biggest gripe about the game is the class system. Everything aside mage feels so underwhelming and weak due to the lack of diversity in armor and accessories and good weapons. I hope they can reference how terraria went with where each class can shine on its own, feel different while doing good damage. Also, mobs in this game is brutal. They hit like a truck, hits super fast, and is literally everywhere, imo spawns too much and i think there should be certain hotspots where mobs are common and spots where they are less common to give a balance in exploring instead of breaking weapons every other exploring session
This game is so fun I am really enjoying it. Literally my only complaint is I think ore boulders should be infinite, or at least there should be a way to infinitely mine ore as it really kills the automation joy when I found out they are finite and break after a while. But seriously what a great game.
0:02 Terraria, Minecraft, and Stardew Valley; I've played none of them 😂 I'm waiting to play it on the Switch, seems like a better fit. Looking forward to it. Maybe it appeals to me more because unlike those mentioned, it's doing a bunch of things at once. Feels like a more varied, interesting experience. Though I'd probably at least try Stardew Valley, since I loved Harvest Moon as a kid.
What would be the name of the small music played in the first transition to the "Getting Started" part, I feel like I recognise it from somewhere but can't get a name on it.
My only complaints about this game is the summoning. There are only 3 weapons for summoners, but it wouldn’t be that bad if the targeting system didn’t suck. They barely attack the enemies /:
You’re fine starting with either. Terraria has MORE content, more community mods, but it’s a bit harder. I’m also biased. Either is good, just go with what looks more interesting to you.
In the full release Malugaz took the Hive Mothers spot, so now she's optional. I'm guessing they wanted more variety in the 3 starter bosses instead of all non-human/bug enemies.
Found no point in the rail system in my play through. I got to a point where I could make portals and place them anywhere I wanted pretty quickly. Just teleported around quicker then the rail system could.
i last played this in January, and to be honest after coming back for the final update i'm a bit underwhelmed. there's not much more to do that justifies me replaying the game. I'm gonna wait for some mods I think then give it another shot
yes its real good, but also its to fast at the beginning and to little loot later on. It needs a rarity system or something similar both for loot and enemies. And some unnecessary time consuming tasks must be updated, like they did with fishing. Fi6ing had a fun minigame, but it was so time consuming that i didn't bother to fish most of the time :D
Idk, it's fun but the bosses are piss easy and theirs really no build diversity since nearly everything is almost identical to some other piece of armor or weapons... Its fun at first but imo it falls apart once you get past the great wall, since I'm not a creative type i didn't care about proper base building since it's truly not necessary in this game and I think being like that really takes a lot away from the game
My only complaint with Core Keeper is that the Hard mode doesn't really do anything in regards to actually affect progression or difficulty in an interesting way. Just a general damage and health boost for enemies. This is fine in the early game pre-dropping the walls but the moment you get Scarlet you can pretty much immediately Speedrun to the final tier of item progression without facing any notable setback. Maybe dying to mobs if you aren't being careful but that's ultimately of no consequence, even assuming you self impose gear limits it barely helps because most of the bosses are so piss easy to avoid getting hit by if you have a movement trinket that the increased stats are more a matter of inconvenience than anything else.
I could definitely see a difficult game hidden within, Melee Only with no movement trinket and no golden food while self imposing gear level restrictions would probably get you there but even then I can't see the bosses being hard enough to not crumble after 2-3 attempts for the sake of testing parry timings etc.
Minus the loot. Thats my biggest holdup for this game because unlike similar veined games, you might use the same armor or weapon hours upon hours later. Summoning is an after thought, but also has a dedicated skill and set gear? The skill panel isnt full and the skill trees themselves seem unfinished. It really doesn't have that many customization options either, even Starbound on launch a decade ago had far more real choices in making spaces. Core Keeper is not really 1.0, its missing a LOT of content. There are so many breaks in between new content patches between each tier that I struggle at times to even play. Is it a bad game? No, in fact I bought it 2 years ago and to this day still have feels for it. I hope that the 1.0 goes off so well that development and developers for it can be tasked to make the actual final product. Its worth your time and is a good explorative experience. I hope the dev can reach the "final patch" someday this decade.
One issue I personally had with the game was with the late game furnaces. There is 0 need for ores to take so long to smelt, it is to this day the only game I ever had an issue with this sort of stuff.
As someone who never player or liked Terannia or Minecraft aside frim Valheim, Core Keeper is the next step and I LOVE the game. If they would mqnqge to put a working first person camera that would take it 2 steps ahead.
I like pixel graphics but not when they're so 'low-rez'. I can't _care_ about the game much when the graphics are like this. Otherwise sounds like a great game
Minions seem flawed so far into my playthrough, beat the poison slime boss and getting ready to face some lake boss, the skeletons are 100% useless compared to bats since they have trouble detecting enemies and even when they do they dont do much damage. Upgrading magic weapons is almost pointless since the increase in mana cost is brutal compared to the increase in stats. Fun game but combat is annoying me at times
Poison slime boss can remove and replace orange slime with the poison slime so i can't cheese that way and run around with the equipment set that makes you immune to orange slime slow down effect but I can just place down rails in a square around the bosses spawn point and shoot at it with no issue since it can't destroy rails. Explosives seem 100% worthless compared to explosive gun you can get, maybe later they get better but I doubt it
I can summarize this game in one sentence: Go, grab stuff, come back, make a farm, go next place, grab stuff, make a farm, rince and repeat. And not in a good farm way as Stardew Valley type of game.
This game is good but it feels unfinished. It has some serious issue with gear and weapons in comparison gear in Terraria is just abundant. In Core Keeper rarely get something that i can say, wow this is so good. For example i am still using Octarine Axe which is craftable weapon, and is still better than that legendary weapon that you can craft together. This game needs about 3 times more weapons and gear, I guess this is a problem when you have classes and you need more gear. Bosses and biomes is a bit too random to me, I actually never killed the first boss yet, since i found his chest and he died by himself. The conveyor belt and robot arm are a nice touch but it feel like it is underused. They should update this to be a bit more like Factorio.
Idk, I never really liked Terraria and I feel like I should've refunded Stardew Valley when I had the chance. Minecraft was pretty good though. I just feel like this game probably isn't for me lol.
Then why act on the fence? Pixel games are for you or not. Stardew was made by 1 guy and is $15, I think your money was well spent whether you liked it or not considering that the price of a whopper meal for someone’s passion project
I am playing it on the steam deck right now my only issue that is that it drains the battery pretty quick the performance-wise all it looks great it plays great no stuttering nothing it is perfect I have the steam deck OLED I don't know if it really matters but yeah it's runs good on the steam deck don't worry Also I don't know if this is one of the things that were you or not but I will let you know the controls for this game with the steam deck are absolutely amazing they're not bad they don't feel weird they feel just perfect
Runs great on my OLED, Ive limited the fps to 45 though and get about 3-4h of battery. I also play it docked on the tv and that's a great experience as well
@@AffablyAndrew that's the one thing that I am happy about I was playing on like a pretty decently sized TV last night and with some of my games with the steam deck if I do them they don't look good like I tried monster hunter world and it just didn't look right but this game it looked perfect in docked I have a pc just use my steamdeck more
Gotta love how Malagaz is now a story boss instead of an optional one and you can actually just track him. When he was an optional boss, I was practically raging at my screen and pulling my hair out since I couldn't find his arena. Took me literally 7 hours scoping through my map just to find him.
If you have Game Pass you can stream any S\X game on Xbox 1. They lose a little visual quality but I've never had any input lag or anything. If you don't have Game Pass you can get 14 days for $1.
I disliked terraria because I was trying to keep a corruption from taking over while random bloodmoon zombie swarms. It just got to be ridiculous. Was I playing it wrong??
@@onthespiral4054 yeah, it's genuinely a masterpiece, I have been playing since realese and the game just gets better because practically there is infinite amount of content, If you're actually struggling with zombies they're easily kited if you get used to their speed which shouldn't take u long, if melee is a hassle u can just craft a bow and arrows from wood and stone and you practically have an okay starting gear, I recommend u check the wiki or look for terraria guides there are optimal starts that I usually go for and I never really worried about corruption, your goal in the game is to kill the end boss which I won't go in detail to not spoil anything as for the corruption if you really do care u can just get rid of a huge chunk of it after you've already finished the game
This game is already a 10/10 but would be an 11/10 if they added a homunculus growing mechanic (Edit) Oh My Gosh Guys! Thx so much for all the likes!!!!

Cause terraria has depth and one of the perfect progressions a game can have.
Minecraft is just empty.
@@korcidiamond3623 minecraft is a sandbox creative game but people treat it like terraria
I hope they continue to work on it like the terraria devs did, right now Corey keeper feels like terraria when skeletron was the last boss
Funny sinxe the game looks mike an amalgamation of them
I like pixel graphics but not when they're so 'low-rez'.
Explosives seem 100% worthless compared to explosive gun you can get, maybe later they get better but I doubt it
Bubble minion seem useful for killing groups of monsters stuck behind a wall, finally a way to cheese monsters zerg rushing me randomly
I’m seriously about to blow my core
Idk, I never really liked Terraria and I feel like I should've refunded Stardew Valley when I had the chance. Minecraft was pretty good though. I just feel like this game probably isn't for me lol.
Then why act on the fence? Pixel games are for you or not. Stardew was made by 1 guy and is $15, I think your money was well spent whether you liked it or not considering that the price of a whopper meal for someone’s passion project

Cnrmry fans rise up
is it steamdeck friendly?
I don't have a steam deck, but the game isn't very demanding, so I'm sure it's amazing!
I am playing it on the steam deck right now my only issue that is that it drains the battery pretty quick the performance-wise all it looks great it plays great no stuttering nothing it is perfect I have the steam deck OLED I don't know if it really matters but yeah it's runs good on the steam deck don't worry
Also I don't know if this is one of the things that were you or not but I will let you know the controls for this game with the steam deck are absolutely amazing they're not bad they don't feel weird they feel just perfect
Runs great on Lcd steam deck except it's a battery fryer !
Runs great on my OLED, Ive limited the fps to 45 though and get about 3-4h of battery. I also play it docked on the tv and that's a great experience as well
@@AffablyAndrew that's the one thing that I am happy about I was playing on like a pretty decently sized TV last night and with some of my games with the steam deck if I do them they don't look good like I tried monster hunter world and it just didn't look right but this game it looked perfect in docked I have a pc just use my steamdeck more
IM BOUTTA UNLEASH MY CORE ALL OVER THIS MFER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
For me, it did get old fast. It's just more Terraria.
Gotta love how Malagaz is now a story boss instead of an optional one and you can actually just track him. When he was an optional boss, I was practically raging at my screen and pulling my hair out since I couldn't find his arena. Took me literally 7 hours scoping through my map just to find him.
why is everyone suddenly talking about it now ?
1.0 just released
Is this game on console by any chance?
Yes
Real
First game to sell 10 Corillion copies
My friend gifted me this on my xbox s then my 2yr old nephew broke my s. So i had to go back to my one for the moment and i can't play it😂😢
If you have Game Pass you can stream any S\X game on Xbox 1.
This has to be rage bait lmao

@@Yugenai it isn’t
I’m genuinely asking because the guy that made this video said he loved it and I’m wondering if I didn’t give it a proper chance.
@@onthespiral4054 yeah, it's genuinely a masterpiece, I have been playing since realese and the game just gets better because practically there is infinite amount of content,
If you're actually struggling with zombies they're easily kited if you get used to their speed which shouldn't take u long, if melee is a hassle u can just craft a bow and arrows from wood and stone and you practically have an okay starting gear, I recommend u check the wiki or look for terraria guides there are optimal starts that I usually go for and I never really worried about corruption, your goal in the game is to kill the end boss which I won't go in detail to not spoil anything as for the corruption if you really do care u can just get rid of a huge chunk of it after you've already finished the game
@@Yugenai no I’m saying I spent so much time fighting I couldn’t build anything
Does someone knows how this compares to Necesse?
I think I kinda enjoy necesse more coz of the raids and how you have more alive automation, the villagers are so awesome

This game is already a 10/10 but would be an 11/10 if they added a homunculus growing mechanic

9/10 ;] and could be polished much more :]
it could use some more weapon variety! but hey! its still just in 1.0 so theres time to expand
What is homunculus growing?
...Terraria, Minecraft, Stardew Valley...
...so rudimentary blocky pixel graphics ? 🙂
Can you make a top 10 cores video? or top 10 keepers?
missing too much quality of life stuff for me
Is the game good with Controller?
