Love your strap idea. So many first class tips and procedures in your videos.
You're a technician. Not a mind reader or a magician. There's no way you could have known about the input bearing issue when the vehicle came in with the wrong clutch disk installed. The customer has another decision to make after they pay your bill.
Not true. Just have to know EXACTLY what to, look for.
Things happen, that was good work Kenny.
You are the last of the honest mechanics. Good work on your part.
no he isn't.
Not alot of them left. At least not here in Norway.
Brother Kenny, I think I know you pretty well. It appeared that you were a little bit frustrated and a little bit disappointed as you sat there in the driver's seat at the end of the video. It's not your fault brother. They need a new transmission with a warranty.
Thanks Glenn Bob! You're right. Thanks for watching & keep wrenching 🔧
Good evening Mr Kenny, hope y'all are doing well. Great video sir and thank you for sharing.😊 Be sure to tell Meg I said good evening. Your videos have taught me so much and I appreciate them.
Well Kenny, your work was done properly and the owner/operator should have provided additional information. Thanks for the tip about battery maintenance and where the corrosion begins.
When you had it apart and turned the input shaft in the first video it sounded like it had bad bearings, especially when you put it in gear and showed the output turning. Wondered then about the trans bearings, but that's not the job you were asked to fix. But surprised you didn't notice it.
Good catch! I did hear the noise but many transmissions are incredibly noisy. You can hear noise while it's not in place which is why I didn't pay much attention to it. I think those noisy transmissions had pilot bearings while this one did not. Thanks for watching & keep wrenching 🔧
Another great video. Noticed it looks like the rocker panel is sitting on the lift arm. Possibly camera angle?
High Gear Transmission shop in Memphis does a great job in rebuilding Toyota and Jeep Manual transmissions. They ship!
as a retired mechanic i wonder how old you are?,great channel by the way!!!
I remember that stuff too
Nice work Kenny.
The shaft bearings dont have to be very worn very much to make a hell of a racket. Rather than replacing the faulty bearings, it is probably more cost effective to get a Reman gearbox. At least you know it has warranteeeeee.
That's not necessarily true. I had a 5 speed transmission rebuilt by a professional shop. Didn't last 1000 miles, took it back they refused to honor their warranty. I rebuilt it myself. (I didn't know what I was doing) I just followed instructions in a service manual. Never had any more problems. I paid the professionals over $2000 to do a bad job. And cost me another $1000. For parts plus my time.
I heard the noise when you turned input shaft it sounded noisy
I learned in the USAF to lower the torque wrench to the lowest point on the torque scale engraved on the wrench, never lower than that.
Thank you for your service! Keep wrenching 🔧
You’re gonna make an excellent technician out of me yet, love your videos. Hey, Kenny needs a brake clean sponsor.
Thanks for your kind words! I do love my brake clean 😂 thanks for watching & keep wrenching 🔧
could the last guy that put the wrong clutch in somehow damaged the bearing putting on necessary strain on the bearing?? Great Job Kenny, really learning a lot on your video's.
it was on the way out long before that misadventure.
Do what we did back in the 1980s and put some fine sawdust in the gearbox, that should 'cure' the noise!
ep 85/140 , that'll help !
At least the clutch doesn't have to come out again.
I thought the bearings were bad and the transmission
oh dear , multiple problems stacked ontop of each other !
The last guy who put the clutch in didn't have the clutch disc aligned properly and drawed the tranny in with bolts instead of pushing the tranny all the way home, and drawing it in with bolts will take the input shaft bearing out!!!!!
I bet the other shop heard that noise and told her it was the throwout bearing and clutch, then only put in the wrong clutch
That is almost guaranteed what happened.
All the bearing parts are sitting on the magnet in that box, as it is all steel so stuck there leaving clean fluid.
The original fluid appeared to be old, but I didn't notice anything in the fluid. No glitter or anything. Thanks for your comment! Keep wrenching 🔧
Never bang on the battery terminal. You will break the seal and it will leak acid.
After seeing you working that axle with 2 pry bars I'm sure you can work a pair of chop sticks eating Chinese food.
😂 I can't use chopsticks to save my life. Thanks for making me laugh & watching the channel. Keep wrenching 🔧
I see people go both ways with terminal brushes 😵💫

Why so many ads on this video?
Where do people dream this stuff up? Bulk oil is just used oil? Wow!
Mistaking it with ' crude '
Years ago, re-refined oil was available in some locations. I think some people confuse bulk with that garbage. We had a local discount gas station that carried re-refined oil, cheap. My old car leaked plenty oil, I was one of their best customers.
What a disappointment! And I know you hate to tell the customer that now they have a transmission problem. 🙁
I bled a clutch on a 2009 Jetta and I couldnt get any fluid so I put a rubber hose on the bleeder and the other end in the master cylinder reservoir and pumped the pedal 30 timrs tightened the bleeder and it was done and had a great clucth pedal!!!!!
Hydraulic clutches on old Escorts were hard to bleed correctly ( I used to see it over and over on forums ) when doing mine I noticed the hydraulic line went on a roller coaster ride, went way up then came down. It was obvious that if done slow the air bubbles would just keep going to the top of the hill. I got a wrench on the bleeder and loosened it , put my finger over the end and being very careful so as not to inject brake fluid into my skin I had my wife pump the pedal all the way down and all the way up about 8 times then tightened the bleeder.
This made the air bubbles go downhill and keep right on going all the way out.
I had probably one of the only air- free clutch lines on an Escorr.
Sad, but not uncommon. I ALWAYS check the input shaft for play, incorrect movement, or any non-smooth rotation. Rebuilt a few of them (all new bearings and seals)
I almost time tagged the olt that DID NOT seat.....
That vehicle is messed up and probably should have never been accepted but how much money would they have wasted if not properly diagnosed/fixed correctly.
So you Would've Junked It For A Bad CLUTCH INSTALL/OTHER DAMAGE!!! THIS IS WHAT SHOPS DO BRO.. NOT JUST OIL/BRAKE'S
@@watchinglclowns9890 Where in my comment does it say to junk the car?
