Hi Danny, I went out the side because I could not install the tank any further forward under my trailer. I didn't want exposed pipes inside my trailer either. This method does not affect the capacity of the tank. Thanks for watching!
HI! Thank you so much for this video! This is exactly what I need to do in 1 of our Camper Bars. Question: in minute 2:10 you installed a grey rubber gasket/connector after you drilled the hole in the side wall of the tank. Where did you get that rubber insert?
Hi! That’s a 1.5” rubber tank grommet. Here’s the link: www.amazon.com/dp/B00PHNFEEC/ref=cm_sw_r_as_gl_api_gl_i_4AAEJDZGPMP1V8EYF0E6?linkCode=ml2&tag=shouldbegood-20
I didn't have it weighed but I estimated the weight of all the materials around 800lb so that I would put it around 2,000lb before putting in fridges/freezers.
Yes, they do make level monitors for these tanks but I didn’t install them because the grey tank is 15% larger than the fresh water so it’s impossible to overfill it. The grey tank should be emptied after every use. Good luck on your project!
@@ShouldBeGood Quick question. On the 1-1/2 Rubber Tank Grommet - does the PVC drain pipe go past the little rubber lip at the back of the grommet or is the drain pipe supposed to stop at the lip preventing it from going into the tank further? Thanks
Actually didn’t lose any capacity with a side inlet. The only negative would be a reduction in flow rate if the water level gets above the inlet. However, since the tank is oversized by 15% from my freshwater tank this will never happen.
Why did you go in the side vs. top and does a side tank install affect how much water the grey tank can hold? Nice video!

Charge question what’s name of the part that’s goes on the hole you made for the holes you made on the tank it seals from leaking
Awesome work! How heavy do you think it ended up being? Trying to build one too.

Is there any water level gauge we can install on this tank?

What pipe did you use for the vent pipe? Thanks
1/2” abs
@@ShouldBeGood Thanks... Unfortunately, I can not find any 1/2 ABS pipe, so I'm going to have to go with PVC or pex pipe. But great video!
@@mikesbackyardbarbecue yeah that should work just the same. Thanks for watching and good luck on your project!

@@mikesbackyardbarbecue yes, it is designed to stop the pipe from going in too far
Looks the tank very low to the ground .
Yes, it was low to the ground, which made me nervous at first but it is still higher than the axle of the trailer so it doesn’t cause any issues.
